Seeing a picture of Jeff on RU-vid one late night with RIP written across it was an out of body experience. This must be a joke.....no joke. My heart broke, my soul was shocked. Blow by Blow came out in 1975, the year I graduated high school (!) I saw Jeff in 1976 at Day On The Green 💚 what a rush- with Jan Hammer no less! Next was 1989 with Stevie Ray. I saw him many more times with the final show in 2014 with Z.Z. Top which was fantastic. They jammed at the end of their set. Forever grateful for Jeff's unreal guitar artistry. 🕉 🎸

How do you like it? I have a '94 Stratocaster Plus, maple neck gold lace sensors. I would prefer a hot rail sound at the bridge, so I might go for the red lace sensor there and maybe for all p'ups.
@SmelOdies
@SmelOdies Год назад
@@mahatmacote6478 It’s great. It was a huge upgrade from the Squier that I played prior to it. Squiers in the ‘80s were really shittier than the Squiers of today (I assume), but I liked my Squier at the time so you can imagine how thrilled I was once I upgraded. For me the Strat Plus was elegant in comparison. Now a couple years before I got the Fender I did upgrade the Squier pickups to a couple Lace Sensors in the neck and middle and a Seymour Duncan Hot Rails in the bridge. Also, in 2010, my Fender Strat Plus’s locking tuners were missing so I had to have them replaced. You can see and hear it on my channel.

I remember the first solo Jeff Beck Album I bought was Side By Side and then I bought Wired. I still have those albums from the 70's till this day. What do you say when a music genius , a guitar virtuoso passes. Rolling Stone Magazine said he was # 5 of # 100 guitarist in the world to some he was # 1. One thing for sure no one else played or sounded like Jeff Beck . He was an original and will be missed. Play on Jeff 🎶Rest Easy🎸

I don’t even play guitar (since I was 12) but found this post compelling listening as I love guitar sound and adore Jeff Beck’s music. I listened to every word and watched every second. I found this post as I was trawling for Beck tributes and have been doing so since hearing of his death last week. His passing is a momentous loss to music and everything related to music but also to mankind as he was such a focussed and determined man who knew what he wanted. It is a terribly sad time and I know this post wasn’t intended as a tribute but none the less, it helps his legacy be understood. RIP Jeff Beck ❤🎶🙏 condolences to all his family and friends and fans

I saw the JBG on the Orange album tour. Max Middleton played about a 3 minute intro and then, 'Going Down', exploded. Jeff had the stripped Strat, no strap, and did this thing where he put the headstock on the stage and then used the whole guitar and did a press-up with both feet off the ground, The sound was beyond the beyond. The amp heads were hidden but he played thru 3 Bluesway cabs... each with 8 ten's.

So many stolen/broken/missing guitars...!! 😱 I assembled myself a JB - type guitar: Warmoth basswood body, USACG roasted tight grain maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, abalone inlays (match with the matte Sonic blue paint), White Luminlay side dots that glow in the dark, compound radius and stainless steel frets, LSR roller nut, hipshot griplock staggered tuners (best in the market I would say), Wilkinson V 100 n trem and a tortoise HSH pickguard loaded with 2 Al 2 humbuckers (PAF 7,6 K like) and a central SD Ssl 2. One of the tone pots is a push push that triggers the neck pickup in all positions, the other one is a push pull that splits the humbuckers' coils. 🎸👍🏻😉

While recording Guitar Shop, Jeff used an early 60s Fender Stratocaster he got from Seymour Duncan to record the album with. (read in a musicians mag back in 89) Photos of the guitar show that is was dirty yellow/beige in color with a rosewood fretboard. A problem arose while recording "Where Were You": There is a middle section where he hits a harmonic and pulls the note up more than a whole step. Tying to do this with the standard note didn't work. Thus, the Strat Plus was used for that section. (has a Wilkinson roller nut) The note would sustain with the metal nut.

When Jimi played Jeff's Les Paul it was the only time most likely he ever played with the strings upside down. Many people seem to think Jimi played upside down since he's on a right-handed guitar. There are players that have learned that way with no left-handed guitars available. But....Jimi knew better and re-strung a right-handed guitar for his use! Revelation! So its interesting to see him play that way- not easily done.

My best friend ever, Bernard Brausewetter had a band "BB and the Stingers". Bernie passed in 2007, but I'll never forget the story he told me. He was at Les Pauls 90(?)th Birthday party at Fat Tuesdays in NYC. He said he was handed a guitar and asked to play to the crowd. He told me the guitar was like an egg slicer, but he didn't have a slide bar with him, so he did his best. I remember him saying to me..."Bill, I walked off that stage after playing, and there in front of me was Jeff Beck, he gave me this big smile, and a thumbs up!" he continued saying that his body temp probably went up 4 degrees and he almost puked! "Billy! Jeff FREAKIN Beck gave me a thumbs up!" A week or so previously, (though he was a Fender guy, like JB) he got his black " Gibson Les Paul" signed in white by, guess who? Les Paul. I don't know what made him shine the greater... Les signing his Les, or Jeff Becks thumbs up. I miss Bernie terribly. Friends since 1st grade, best fishing buddy ever. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SOAOADtB6oU.html

This was great, love Jeff’s playing and all his guitars are super iconic, I also have a Strat that has Jeff and Eric Clapton’s Lace Censor pickups. I’d love to see one of these for David Gilmour of Pink Floyd or Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top, that’d be an awesome episode for this series. Keep up the great videos, Ramon, and peace from Canada

One of my favorites Ritchie Blackmore and Jeff Beck two of the greatest not more famous than Page or Clapton I think better. I know those two by there fist note that's the way it is. Not so much with others. Only effect I think he used is a flanger am I right ? Cozy Powell rip a top 4 drummer in the world. Just bought Cozy Powell's book can't wait for it to get here.

Thank you for this. Your comment that Beck gifted the John Owen Tele to Page has prompted me to comment. According to research I did for a feature, Beck, who at the time had his Esquire and Les Paul, loaned Page, who owned a black Les Paul Custom, the John Owen Tele when he enlisted with the Yardbirds. When Beck was fired from the band, that Tele stayed with Page. Beck apparently tried to get it back, though to no avail. Eventually he gifted John Owen with a JB Signature Strat. And Page gave Beck a Maccaferri G40 plastic guitar. Beck has said that he was quite upset, thinking it was a joke and Page was mocking him. But no, it turned out he loved the guitar and I read that he plays it a lot when home. In BB&A Jeff tended to play a white Strat and the Oxblood Les Paul he acquired whilst recording the 'Orange' album, which was produced in Memphis by Steve Cropper. Worth noting that Cropper said he was constantly amazed by Jeff's playing, wondering - as Hendrix had done when asking Billy Gibbons - 'How'd he do that?' Regarding the Steve Marriott Strat, I have read where, despite it not being favourably so portrayed in your video, Jeff said it is the favourite of all his guitars. Also good to read Seymour Duncan's confirmation in the comments here re: Beck's longtime manager, Ralph Baker, delivering a bag of guitar parts to him. This counters Jeff's own explanation which included his Esquire walking out the door with Duncan, though possibly he did not mean that in the literal sense. Worth noting that at that time Duncan, an American, was working in the repair shop of the Ivor Arbiter-owned Fender Soundhouse (Ringo purchased his first Ludwig drums from Arbiter's Drum City), a short walk from where 'Blow by Blow' was being recorded. Jeff's guitars have never been documented to the degree you have done here. There were some surprises, which is always good.

So very sad that a legendary guitar god has left us today :( R.I.P Jeff Beck (1944-2023) Of course the wonderful musical legacy will live on, but it's very sobering and saddening that we won't get to hear any new stuff from this true legend :( Jeff Beck was, and always will be, the undisputed King of the whammy bar. A terrible loss, taken from us far too soon :(
