People write into our site all the time and ask what does Jeff Cavaliere’s meal plan and workout look like? As we approach our 1,000,000th subscriber I thought it would be a good time to show you an example of my daily diet and workout. From the time I wake up at 8:00 in the morning until the time I go to bed at night at 1:00, I show you what a typical day of my diet, supplements and workout would look like.
To begin my day, I wake up at 8:00am and have breakfast by about 8:30am. For some this would seem like a very late start to the day. I would probably agree with you if I wasn’t getting to bed every night at 1am. That said, I start my day with breakfast of pumpkin oatmeal, scrambled eggs and salsa, some fresh kiwi slices and a glass of skim milk.
From there it’s off to work and I get started right away on my duties as the owner of ATHLEAN-X. This occupies a lot of time sitting at the computer and being as active as I am, I sometimes feel as if I want to come out of my skin not moving! It is very important that I make the time to work out later in the evening to help me feel as if I can get some blood flowing again and undo the damage of sitting on my butt for the time I do when working on the business.
The mid morning snack comes up fast, and that for me is a Rx-2 protein shake mixed with strawberries and banana. On days that I know I am going to be especially busy, I take the post workout shake as an additional snack to ensure that I get the nutrition I know I need without having to prepare an extra meal to do so.
Back to business as I usually spend the next few hours catching up with my athletes that I need to communicate with long distance. Skype is my best friend, as it allows me to not only conference in with my athletes or the teams I consult with but to visually see what is going on if I need to be able to evaluate something that may have come up since the last talk. As always, I prefer to save all diagnoses for in person evaluations, but in a pinch, the internet allows me to look at the exercise or injury from afar and get the client on track before I arrive.
Lunch follows with a grilled chicken and veggie wrap with extra sun dried tomatoes. I also have a Greek Yogurt (I’m loving the new Chobani Oats yogurt) and some sparkling water. The sparkling water is a great way for me to forget that I’m drinking water and makes it much more appealing to me and easier for me to drink the amount I need to support muscle growth. If you find that you struggle to drink enough water during the day, try to swap in some sparkling water and you’ll be surprised at how much you will drink.
The afternoon is consumed with training my athletes in person. Whether this be at the XBOX in my home state of Connecticut or on the road as shown in the video, I find that I do most of my training of clients in this afternoon block of time. I do quickly follow that up with an afternoon snack and on this particular day I had some black bean, vegetable and onion soup. It is portable, easy to heat up and makes for a good snack.
Back to work on the business for a few hours before heading home for a dinner and some time with the family. I think it’s important to have someone to come home to and look forward to coming home to. Work is my passion for sure, but the drive to succeed at what I do is strongly rooted in the family I have and it’s what makes me tick.
After this time, it’s the start of the big moment of my day…my workout. A typical Jeff Cavaliere workout would of course include elements of strength and conditioning. In this particular video, I did some quick monkey bar work for upper body agility and jump rope for lower body footwork and conditioning. This led into my shoulder workout that consists of the following exercises:
Landmine Shoulder Presses
Barbell Clean and Press
Plate 8’s
Plyo Side Lateral Raises
I was able to complete this entire workout, including the conditioning, in about 45 minutes.
I followed this workout as I always do with my RX-2 post workout protein shake. I like to mix my blend with cinnamon following my workout.
Before I go to bed however, I make my most important shake of the day…my Rx-3 night time recovery drink. This helps to provide my muscles with the exact nutrition they need during the time when they absolutely need it the most, as they attempt to recover from the workout earlier that evening.

Great video. Summers here got some vacation coming up and I feel it "throws off" my routine big time. Anyway you could do a quick video on some tips for when your on vacation, trip, cruise etc. and you wanna eat right and exercise right without your normal amenities.

Jeff I started to change my life last November. I had to get a life saving surgery. I weighed 530lbs. After surgery I decided I had enough. I started eating healthier. I began doing DDPY and found your channel. I use a lot of the information you put out. In 7 months I've lost 120 lbs and have a new lease on life. I'm far from done and will continue. I appreciate what you do.

@@respiratoryfailure3780 -IF can be just a prolonged night fast -no evening snacks and grazing throughout the day. And JC is just doing shakes between meals at regular intervals, no sweets and chips and pizza slices. Often the insulin resistance is the culprit and the reason why the fast might be beneficial to normalize the system.

What's wrong with that? Did you workout before eating? If so that's a good thing. Exercise while in a fasted state is optimal, don't think so? Ask the military, they always PT their recruits in boot camp before feeding them.

I do it. When I eat I'm on a Keto 20/4 IDF... (Intermittent Daily Fast) then when I'm not doing IDF I do a full water/black coffee only extended fast. I'm doing that now and I'm in Day 3. Hunger pangs gone... but I did something different than last time, last time I went 19 days and suffered through days 2/3. Yesterday I let myself have 1 Keto Coffee without MCT because I think it's expensive... so I made one of those when I was really hurting... hunger pangs were going nuts. It put them down, and I feel like I'm now in the clear when it comes to hunger pangs. I'll never do it any other way in future. I was worried it would stimulate hunger after putting it down for a few hours, but here I am the next day, hunger gone.

Bojan Dordeski Why not? Jeff has an impressive physique. No homo. As men, it makes a statement that you are disciplined and capable of staying on a course to achieve a goal that is not easy. It requires time and dedication. The mind and body are a complete unit so it improves confidence and gives him a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment. Unlike many, who will shoot drugs into their veins and take a short cut. Sure, they still have to do the work but their also taking short cuts and being massive is not what it's about @ Athlean X. Maybe Leo plays a sport that he wants to get stronger and more agile in. The overall physique is just a byproduct of sheer hard work and sweat. Surely, you would know what that's about, or do you? That's my take...I'll let Leo reply to your question. And Leo, I agree with your comment as well :)

lol I really feel like I should be paying for some of the information you put out. I would classify myself as an intermediate/advanced lifter and all I do before the gym is research your vids. There are like 15 just for your back! I was doing some of your tricep tips tonight. People in the gym usually kinda stare when I do a lot of your stuff, in a good way. Like 'whoa, that's pretty smart', I guess you could say. I'm not giving you any money, Jeff.... but you will always be a bad ass in my book.

I religiously thumbs up all his vids, and have posted some of his vids in various places on social media. I got some good responses from a lot of people. I think a lot of folks are like me and appreciate the no bullshit approach he has to his content. He just gives you the info, the science, tells it straight and clear, etc. Best fitness channel on RU-vid imo.

As a soldier and a father my days start at 3am wake up and get ready then be at the gym by 3:40am workout until 4:50am then i have my protein shake with eggs and toast, i then get into uniform and be at pt formation by 620 finish at 730 then go home to get son's breakfast ready for my wife to feed him at 8am and then I head out to work from 845am-5pm depending on the work day. Any time I have after 6pm is family time and planning for the day after. It's not easy having a routine but all you need to do is just start and stick with it, this is my routine because this BEST fits my busy schedule.

Jeff, I found this super inspiring as I do most of what you put up here on your channel. We've had to clinch the purse straps as my wife and I both try to transition to new careers and it's been a challenge to take this thing wide open as Id like to. Thanks to your guidance here, I've managed to improvise and move forward. I up my game as the budget allows and have seen noticeable results along the way. I've completely changed my lifestyle and discovered a "me" like I've never known. Keep on keepin' on because it's what you do that inspired me to pursue a career in training and help others achieve personal fitness goals.

I don't ever take the time to comment on RU-vid videos, but I truly appreciate these videos. Thank you for being so direct and for sharing this knowledge. Many people like myself, have no issue working hard, but never had access to such a concentrated source of, How to, as well as why. The message about rescuing dogs was great, I have only had one dog from a breeder and she was great. But every rescue we have had has been wonderful.

I subscribed to your channel because you show exercises while you are doing them, and while you are lecturing on muscle and body mechanics science that you are experiencing first hand. Your best attribute, IMHO, is the first hand advice for things that do/don't work for you. I enjoy your videos very much.

Pre-workout/caffeine in the evening messes up my sleep pattern like nothing else. Instead of asleep around 12am I'd sleep around 4am.
