Remarkable; my 8 year old son was sitting quietly listening as I played this video and I didn’t realize he was paying attention. Then he suddenly started telling me how much he loved the message and it made him feel good. I was struck with a little disbelief, I wasn’t sure he really got the message. He’s 8!! So I asked him if he understood it, and he emphatically said that he did and he liked the man in the video. So I asked him to tell me what he thought the message was, and I was a little shocked when he nailed it 100%. Truthfully, I’m no Calvinist. I don’t find the theology of predestination in Scripture. But what I struggle with is that I often find Calvinist sermons to be more biblically sound than the churches I’ve attended recently.
I go to Apologia Utah, also not a Calvinist but agree with most of the TULIP. I will say, there’s some elements of predestination very clearly stated in the word - in particular that the Lamb had the names written in His book of life before the foundation of the earth. This would imply a certain level of predestination. Additionally, the portions of the Bible where a child and their particular works are prophesied would also imply a certain level of predestination (Joseph, Jesus, John the Baptist & many many others). Anyway, we love our Apologia Family. God totally blessed us with good faithful Bible teachers. If you’re in UT or AZ, definitely consider Apologia. It really is an amazing church body.
So God didn't give man a plan of redemption from the start? The Gospel is literally proclaimed in Genesis 3. How is there no predestination in light of that truth?
@@rodneysparks6442 that’s not what that means. You’re conflating. Yes the gospel is in Genesis. By taking the position that God gave free will does not reject the gospel in any way. It is more true to the gospel. Predestination says you’re just a program and the outcome was already determined for you. You’re going to come to Jesus and there’s you can do to stop it nor is there anything you can do to make it happen. It also means people that are not elected simple cannot be saved. Evangelism is still relevant because we can’t know God’s election and His plan may be for someone to have been saved by hearing the gospel. But ultimately, you’re just a program executing a script. That in no way is biblical. He knows who will and will not be saved, but that is because He exists outside of time and sees the end time just as clearly as He sees the beginning. The fact that He knows the plan, and its outcome already doesn’t equate to predestination. It just furthers the point that he’s not locked into linear time with us, His creation. People have to choose to put on the Holy Spirit and receive salvation through Christ. They can turn the offer down. That’s why evangelism is so important. But can I just say, let’s not spoil our unity on an issue that doesn’t change our salvation. We’re all saved and brothers in Christ and make up the Church (big C body of Christ) Let’s focus more on that and be grateful.
@@rodneysparks6442 no, I’m explaining predestination in the exact terms of the Calvinist definition according to my education in School of Divinity. Sorry we can’t reach agreement. But it sounds like you may want to reconsider your belief in predestination. Happy to discuss more, maybe not in a public RU-vid thread.

I needed this slice of humble pie. Ive had a rough week and it was mostly due to my unwillingness to die to self if not entirely. I even lashed out and punched a hole in my bathroom wall over nothing. Ive been unteachable this week for sure and i repent. Christ is my Lord, my savior, my teacher, my strength. This is so powerful for me at this moment in my life. Man the holy spirit really does give you guidance if you listen. I was just asking how do I talk to someone about the word when they challenge me on every step of my faith. Thank you I needed to hear this.

My ex refused to even speak to the pastor. He had a call scheduled and didnt answer and refused to communicate with him. Once i discovered the dating sites on his phone (as well as sexual pictures and videos) it made sense why he was leaving me... but all my attempts to reconcile were ignored. i have been a scoffer in the past but i do not despise correction any longer, by the grace of God. Everything Pastor Jeff said is absolutely true.
This is a great sermon and explication. I recently had to punt a scoffer from a group of fellow young men that I tried to put together as a discipleship group where we could all grow together, since I ran into similar issues with some people at my small congregation (I still go there, but some of them have thankfully moved on or are having their unfulfilled needs fulfilled to produce peace). I gave the guy several chances, to the point that even one time he ruined an opportunity I had to talk to a young woman I was interested in because he repeatedly got involved behind my back despite my having told him ahead of time not to get involved at all (hence his doing it behind my back). He wanted to be seen as the wise one even though on a maturity scale he just isn’t there, and he still does (though thankfully away from me). Even then once that fell apart, I still had mercy on him several times. It’s really sad, but I’ve had so much peace and less strife with him not in my circles. Lately I’ve just been thinking on how I don’t feel guilty, but also how I can maintain Scriptural reasoning (which God has been providing before this video) since he retells stories with himself as the victim, and I know he’s doing that now. Thankful for this breakdown of the “scoffer.” Used to have to read Proverbs every day as a kid, and so I have a lot of these verses simply in my head as wise sayings and counsel. But this breakdown is a reinforcement Godsend!

I didn’t need to tell that particular offense, I could have told several others that I just lumped together in passing, but they would involve other people and be less concise of a story. It’s more a tale that I told to provide an example for spotting narcissists. (Kinda like guys who make it their business to comment on the internet about people telling business on the internet.) It’s also a subject matter in the real life of Christians that ought to be discussed a bit more frankly and as a matter of fact. I just an hour ago had a Catholic friend admonish me on Facebook after telling other Christians to not watch The Chosen because of it's Book of Mormon insertions and alterations of the Gospel, just because of the good "fruits" it brings. This sermon was perfectly timed. Hallelujah! ♥️🙏♥️
A narcissist is just a tag word to hang upon another to demonize them. It's modern DAILY usage should show that adequately. We are really just talking about people behaving and living a self centered lifestyle. You can be a victim and be self centered.

The part about the people in the valley hits home. My little brother has been a scoffer as long as I can remember. I'm 58, he's 53. Heavy drinker for as long as I can remember. Enjoyed nothing more than being drunk. At this point, he is broken, but too late. Even as his life ebbs away from the liver damage, he refuses to come to Christ. "Jesus is for after when I die." Whatever that means. Perhaps digging in as a scoffer also twists the mind, much like being given over in Romans 1.
1 Corinthians3:18 speaks for itself. Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
This resonates with me deeply. I was married to a scoffer /atheist for 13 torturous years. The smug, arrogance can not be penetrate. The irony is that our children are coming to god on their own will. Despite his atheist dogmatic Indoctrination. This man is more than indifferent he is hostile towards Christ. His children are wiser. And he cannot control that, which is the ultimate justice. It makes him crazy. But still he maintains his smirk. It’s infuriating. I try to pity him.
You have to disassociate from him he controls you. God is his judge. He will get to him when the time comes. More importantly NO 1 comes to God of their own will all of us need sound doctrine and teaching and to be constantly immersed in his word. You made a mistake, he deceived you. You were probably young. You cannot undo the past. Got to study the word implement it and teach it to your kids.

I believe what the bible says. And the bible and jesus said He is the Son of God who sits at the right hand side of the Father. Jesus quoted david from book the of Psalms. Where's the verse for "sanctification is a lifelong process"? (just after the 10.00 mark). I know it's an ingrained tradition (Calvinist?) but... I prefer Scripture: "And such were some of you: but ye are washed *but ye are sanctified* but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God" (1 Corinthians 6:11)
In no way does that negate the idea that sanctification is a lifelong process. “Ye are sanctified” there’s simply not enough context to state this is a lifelong process or instantaneous, based on this isolated verse. This is where rightly dividing the truth comes in, if scripture tells us we cannot be free of sin in this earthly body due to the curse, then we cannot be completely sanctified(purified from sin) until death. So sanctification therefore must be a lifelong process.
@@calebbasile2219 "Sanctified" doesn't mean "purified from sin". Who told you that??? Not a dictionary, that's for sure! It literally means "made holy/a saint" and holy means "separate/set apart" and obviously someone who has been born of the Spirit (definition of a Christian in John 1:12-13) is different and separate from the world. Having the Holy Spirit indwelling (another definition of a Christian in Romans 8:9 etc) makes a person different! The fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) most certainly does. Christians are referred to as "saints" (literally: sanctified ones) over 40 times in the New Testament. The whole notion of a "process" is a concept by MEN. And since it contradicts Scripture, it's a dangerous lie. (As for sinning, read Romans 6, John 8:34-36 & 1st John chapters 3 thru 5).

Jesus had anger at the 'blind leaders', unteachable teachers, and today being biblically stupid is running rampant all over 'churches'...as Paul calls it, 'spiritual wickedness in high places'. Too many "bible answer" men that are at 'variance/debate' daily, a 'work of the flesh' and 'contrary' to the Spirit of Christ. They usually just ignore what they think to already know better than others on...sadly. (Ps.149:4).
This young fellow makes sense. God bless him but no one helped me in fact in rehab they stole from me over 2000 dollars and right after took that money by their director got caught buying cocaine and sniffing it at the rehab , and another that started to help me and I was doing good then said I can't pray for you anymore and yet another and another Church!!!!!!!!!!! God knows but yet I am still here by the grace of God ALMIGHTY through Christ and yet no church or state or whatever has asked me to join them to help the poor and abused . Do any of you know how it is like to be beaton every day as a young child up to the age of 17 ???? Spit at and stripped naked and slapped and kicked !!! The scoffer will try to deviate from having to take responsibility for their behavior by attacking the victim to avoid responsibility. The scoffer is a vile , manipulative, malicious slanderer. They will stop at nothing to destroy you. Mark and avoid . Todays psychology calls these people malignant narcissists. Satan is the ultimate narcissist. Just like Satan lurks around to find someone to devour, the scoffer (narcissist ) is doing the same exact thing.
These co dependent women almost always play the victim when they have gone back to them over and over and need to receive self pity as a victim over and over. They usually have enablers also when they redundant behavior leaves them devoid of legitimate excuse.
