"Take Me Out to the Ballgame" by E's Jammy Jams is RU-vid Studio free music.
Some scenes were filmed at the Missouri History Museum and Busch Stadium III.
*Sumner(which isn't in this neighborhood) opened in 1875, but Ittner designed the current Sumner H.S. in 1908.

I was born in north st.louis in 1939 so that now makes me around 84 years old... Used to play corkball and also fished in the lake at fairgrounds park. Graduated from Jackson School on Madison and Hogan streets in 1953. graduated from Hadley tech 3years and O'fallon Tech in 1957. My wife and i lived on Dodier street not far from sportsmans and i used to go to go there to see Stan the MAN, Ken Boyer, Bill White, Curt flood, and numerous others... i moved to Los Angeles in 1962 but remained a St. Louis Cardinal Fan

I knew a family that attended Beaumont High School. One set of twins graduated in 1980. I love how you give such good commentary and historical facts of buildings and areas. Also the baseball history. I live in west-central MO, so it's very interesting to me. Thanks for all you do‼️

We had 3 Vashon High Schools the first one my parents went to and I went to the second one and they tore it down and James Cool Papa Bell moved on Dickson and we had a huge party for him to welcome him and they changed the street name after him. I got to meet him when I was a kid I used to see him all the time. He was my neighbor I grew up on James Cool Papa Bell. My grandparents help to build Jeff Vander Lou with Mr Shephard. I was born and raised down there.

I'll never forget standing on Frozen Fairgrounds Lake in the 1960s when all of the ice started to break around me. Luckily my Dad ran out grab me and got me off of the ice before I fell through😢

I attended Central High in the 60’s. As a young boy I walked to Sportsman’s Park from my house and watched the Cardinals play. Bleachers seats cost one dollar. My grandfather was a Browns fan. Watched the Cardinals win the World Series in 1964. It’s a pity that “white flight “destroyed the neighborhood. Hey I forgot to mention how much I appreciate your videos about the neighborhoods of St. Louis. I have watched many if not most of them. Thanks for taking the time to make them.

Another great video! Loved your history and stories! I live in Florida and I swear there is an old high school that was recently renovated in Sarasota that I would bet was designed by William Ittner. Looks like it was transplanted from STL. Wow a lot of churches. I think that old Masonic Temple used to be known as Mount Mariah Temple. My mom went to an osteopath just down the street in the 1960s. My mom grew up around Fairgrounds Park and went to Beaumont High School. Her family then moved to Garasche off of Goodfellow by the old small arms plant. My mom was a member of the Knothole Gang at Sportsman's Park and sat in the bleachers at a lot of home games. Loved that IBEW footage and that memorial. I did not know about that. U mentioned Maxine Waters I covered her a lot as a reporter in Washington and travelled to Africa with her on a trip with President Clinton. Always love your videos. Keep up the good work. Reminds me of my days in STL and I went to Southwest High like u said, I think it is a fine arts academy now. Take care and keep the videos coming!

@@doyleholloway1818 The streets are labeled correctly at 6:56 and I showed where Carter Carburetor was at 12:55. Home plate was in the southwest corner at Spring and Dodier and center field was at Sullivan and Grand. Some people just try to cause confusion- but when I asked what was wrong, he didn't respond.

hello again, born in early 50's dad took me to sportsmans park to watch the cards play around 1957... he bought a souvineer pack of cardinal player pictures...it was a manila envelope about 10"x12" full of black and white photos of the team. my mom kept it for years in her cedar chest and then it disappeared ...sometime later dad got a foul ball and got a bunch of cardinal autographs on it like mike shannon, ken boyer, dal maxvil, curt flood, ray sedecky this also disappeared over the years ...love your vids thanks

I remember all those players. How about the 1963 all star game when the entire National league infield starters were Cardinals? Bill White at first; Dal Maxvill at second; Ken Boyer at third; and Dick Groat at shortstop. I looked this game up to find out what the final score was (National League won 5-3). My memory failed me though, because Bill Mazeroski (Pirates) was actually selected to start at 2nd base, but because of injury, Cardinal Julian Javier replaced him. Dick Groat had an rbi and Bill White scored the winning run. The NL had a formidable pitching staff with Coufax, Drysdale, Spahn, and Marichal among them. Ok I’ll quit being a rambling old man now. Thanks for your videos!
