I sat in an Elders meeting on CSA where Elders didn't want to go against the majority opinion. The victims Father had a business bone to pick with Elders and it affected the direction and opinion of the majority. The lead detective for the Sheriff's dept saw right through it and even affected our efforts in the local door to door ministry. What a shame and a lack of care and responsibility for our tender age Kids

I have to say on this forum as I have said on others it was the realization that this issue was being covered up institutionaly that led to me finally waking ⏰ up. It was the KM School of 1998 where provision was made for a 15 hours of additional instruction at the Circuit level and I was chosen as one of the instructors that it became evident to me that the organization was systematically covering up CSA (child sectual abuse). When the Leslie Stall interview of one of the Governing Body helpers was done on national television 📺 about a year later it was confirmed. Thank you for your efforts to help us wake up to TTATT and the provision of a forum where brothers and sisters can go to be heard and get help 🙏

This is a mirror image of what led to my stepping off the body of elders... In my case it was a letter sent by the society and read to us as a body...It was the procedure to be followed if a report was made to any one of us regarding c.s.a.... It was obvious from the letter that the intention was to keep the matter in house, only inform the branch and not the authorities... This was around the year 1989... The letter did not sit well with me... Within weeks I stepped off the body....Months later I began to fade....

Unreal the incomptence and ineptness of the elders and the headquarters. Is it surprising though? It's right in their manuals. They won't stop you from reporting CSA, but they won't do it themselves. Good for her for pressuring and doing something about this. Great video Lady Cee ✌🏼🙏🏻

What is completely insane is not pedophilia as such because unfortunately there have always been cranks in all "religions", no, the craziest thing in all these dramas is that some of these criminal witnesses of Jehovah had been appointed by the holy spirit of God to become an elder. With their new status, these elders had become beyond suspicion. They have been able for years to extend their hold over the poor victims. These holy spirit-appointed criminals prove one thing, and that is that the god of the watchtower loves little children and cares especially for their well-being. Disgusting.

This is why we have mandatory reporter laws. So many people talk a big game about what they'd do to a perpetrator if they found out a loved one was abused, but way too often the perpetrator is also a loved one, and too often the bystanders/witnesses back down real quick, and leave their loved one who was a victim to languish in their trauma, and the rug sweeping is quick and thorough.

I’d love to see expanded requirements for mandatory reporting. Expand who is or becomes a mandatory reporter because they know, or have reason to know, a crime is being committed against a child. Throw everybody in the pool!

@@catballou5384 this is the law in my home state of NJ. All adults are mandatory reporters. No clergy exceptions. This is why one of the small number of CSA cases I know of in a JW congregation the society told elders to report was in NJ.

Way to go, Lucille. Any time there is a reported case of sexual abuse against a child in a Jehovah's Witness congregation, it should be reported to police, who are trained to investigate cases of such a crime. Sexual abuse against children is a CRIME, no matter where it occurs, whether it is within the organization or outside of it. Thank you for sharing your poignant story.

So true about the happy, sing-songy way that people at HQ speak. That should be a sure sign of a cult. Reminds me of the documentary, “Keep Sweet, Pray and Obey” about the FLDS church. Also, the LEGO movie where the theme song that everyone sings all day long is “Everything is awesome!” Thank you for shining a light on the deer in the headlights apathy that so many Witnesses have. I am currently dealing with the fact that JW relatives have abducted my mother who has Alzheimer’s. My parents have been married for 50 years. My dad is a terrific guy other than he no longer believes the religion (questioned whether the flood was really a global event.) So family members figured they needed to take my mother from my father, which will have disastrous health & financial consequences for my parents and their children. I called the police to make a report when this happened three months ago. The weird thing is my dad is still under the JW spell and freaked out because I contacted the police. Now I’m trying to send a letter to the criminal family members through attorneys, and Dad’s freaking out again. He thinks all we need to do is be super sweet and somehow everything will work itself out. Speaking up is apparently the worst sin of all!

Sorry to hear of your dilemma. It seems that your dad has no willingness to address this issue, and until he does, very little movement will/can be achieved! Your dad’s a great example of the problem of proximity. Not enough distance between him and JWs. Distance airs out the way we think, speak and act. Helps us divest from whatever we’ve been made to believe and changes the balance of power. Proximity keeps us thinking, speaking, acting and invested in [fill in the blank] messages. In my work we’ve learned the best way to change the entire course of a child’s life is to change the child’s entire environment. It can be extreme, but showing them a different way to live works. I wish we could do something like this with our JW loved ones.

Have you seen the WT letter that's going around that told a congregation they have no obligation to report a guy in the congregation that was known or confessed to "several murders and crimes" from before he was baptized. But reports of smoking weed would get him a Judicial committee

@@50shadesofnewlight73 I haven’t seen that, but it sounds familiar. I had a Bible Student who’d been involved in human trafficking and he’d had a person killed in retaliation for reporting him to police. The local elder said it didn’t matter since that was before he started studying.

The "Two Witness Rule " needs to be exposed. I brought it up to my sweet JW friend and they had never heard about it and was angry at me thinking there was ever such a thing allowed in their organization. The Two Witness Rule needs to be addressed and made public as much as possible. Most of the public would never allow this this organization may fall much faster if the public knew about this horrific part of this organization

i was baptized as an adult into a JW congregation in Washington state and i remember the first time hearing about CSA that involved at least two elders, in a congregation in the same circuit. I recall it being talked about amongst some sisters in the car groups, at the same time, we weren’t permitted to inquire more deeply about it. I also recall a very laissez-faire attitude, perhaps even an attitude that it was vicious slander against these poor elders. Fast forward about ten years and it was reported on the local news that two JW elders were arrested for CSA- one for rape, from that very congregation, and he was sentenced to 45 years in a Wash. state prison- the other one got ten years. i think back to that time and i wonder to myself over and over and over- why didn’t i call the police when it FIRST CAME TO MY ATTENTION. This was the 1990s and I struggle with this still today. What was i thinking. 😢

That’s a very thoughtful poem, well said! It’s such a shame that honest, trusting children are being preyed upon by these horrible wolf-like “elders”! My prayer is that these criminals will get the harshest sentence applied to them! A life time in prison seems right! They have taken away the innocence from babies & children & hopefully the victims can get help to move beyond their horrible pain & grow up healed from their trauma!🥲

Curious to know more about what had to be established with CPS in your state to get them to open a case jacket. Especially when the caller is reporting second or third hand. We all want to be able to make such calls.

Thank you Lucille for this information and your bravery. I have heard and know JW recruit sex offenders in jail. This does not help their problem of ignoring CSA cases. See story on Phil Garrido was sex convict got early release because he became a JW then married a JW pioneer, Nancy .They lived in state of California & Kansas. Phil and Nancy Garrido kidnapped a 8 yr old girl Jacey Dugard back in 1991 who he had 2 children wiht in back of his home. Also some professional career types if known of CSA and not reported can be fired.

Thanks for sharing the info. I applaud Lucille's outrage. Although I am not a too knowledgeable about Law enforcement tactics, I believe that if she had reported this to the zealous police (at least) they may have done detective work (as in murder cases) to locate the culprit.

Child Protective Services is the reporting agency in our state that handles all reports of child neglect and abuse. I reported to the correct authorities.

My wife did the very same thing that this sister did. We were both treated very badly because the brother had just become a circuit overseer. The elders held it against my wife and I for trying to expose a huge cover up. It involved the molestation of two of my sisters when we were young by the very man that was studying with us which happened to be a family member. He studied with us while my parents went visiting in gallivanting around. So we were left alone I think we studied the paradise book for about 10 minutes and that's when he would send me to my room and get to the business that he was really there for. I never really liked him. A lighter found out that he was accused by someone else another mother of molesting her daughter at the same time that this came out involving my two sisters. He is still serving as an elder and I was in the organization for 25 years I was a ministerial servant for 14 years. There was additional information that would have proved that he was without a doubt lying and I was told that if I open my mouth about it I would be disfellowship. It took about 6 months for that too sink in before I finally left for good. I also found out that there was a pedophile ring but then the organization between three major cities in Louisiana and the brother that reported that never gave apart on the assembly again. Why do they punish and blame the messengers? This organization is not God's organization because he would never allow this to happen. Falls predictions, false prophecies, CSA, hypocritical organizational behavior like owning stock in the Philip Morris corporation. Joining the UN it became clear that this organization hands are filthy.

A brother in our congregation went mad , and the elders said they can't do anything about it because is his personal life ,and he has to come to them to ask for help , that same week the elders called me to counsel me on my hair because it wasn't speaking well of a witness in the territory, so what am i going to do about it , i told them plainly that i won't do anything about it , because how is a haircut a bad witness but leaving your mentally ill brother to roam around isn’t?

@tini96 they didn't, but they removed my name from the trolley list , because " it wasn't giving a good witness " , I use that opportunity to go all out and did exactly what I wanted 😉 with my hair , I even stopped preaching and they called to encourage me to preach more , I told them if am not good enough to stand for hours on a trolley, how does it make any sense for me to go house to house, they are trying to convince me .

I can certainly see a situation where the congregation had a little "special" talk about fully entrusting and sharing everything to the elders, [insert nonsense bible quotes for it here], and that people should not bring cases against one another [insert quotes here again], and that tainting their god's name unnecessarily is a bad thing. All while quoting magazines and some biblical principles - oh, I forgot, the bible does NOT speak against CSA... for all we know, their god likes that kind of stuff, and they allow it. Gosh this makes me mad.

When all csa incidents from the past to the present are exposed, the business corporation of the Watchtower organization will finally be greatly affected. The Watchtower organization will lose so much money due to lack of donations, other revenues, and droves of people will leave afterwards waking up to the real truth. The bottom line, the Watchtower organization is protecting its assets instead of the innocent victims. Well done Lucille for fighting to protect this child!!!

In our state, Child Protective Services is the reporting agency that investigates all child abuse and neglect. That's why I reported the alleged abuse to this agency.

What pisses me off is the response of the child protection. Nothing is being done for the child. Plus. We all know children taken away from abusive homes don't end up better, but it didn't even go there.

I can't help but think that the callous attitude toward finding and stopping an abuser for risk of accusing an innocent person, is at least partly due to how Watchtower doctrine affects JWs emotionally. The belief that their God of love permits suffering - so much suffering! - to settle an issue of sovereignty, doesn't really motivate JWs to think that intervening to stop a situation of current suffering is always/necessarily the obligatory thing to do. The notion that God will resurrect the faithful to an eternal paradise free of pain and suffering, which will make present-day suffering pale to insignificance, also serves to minimize present suffering and can motivate many JWs to permit suffering as a means to a more noble end like protecting the image of the organization. That's why it's more important to the elders to handle the accused judicially than to immediately get the police involved to safeguard children. It's a kind of religiously indoctrinated, artificial, cult-mind psychopathy.

After elders handled a case internally (no disfellowshipping though), I informed the police through a detailed letter (with elders involved names, addresses, email and phone numbers) a brother in his 20's that molested his younger female relative. I also wrote a letter to his congregation to let the elders know that I and others were disturbed that he was not reported to the police.

Excellent job dead! I myself grew up a witness and was never touched or anything but I heard about things that never really kicked in till I was older. I left In 2012 and haven’t been back whatsoever! I even heard about a women in another town having sex before marriage with her soon to be husband and she herself told me the elders brought her in the back room and asked her very dirty questions that almost made me puke at the time. She even had to tell them if she swallowed or spit it out 🤢 thanks for the story and the info people should and need to know! Unfortunately many witnesses won’t hear this out of fear of death lol but fucking sad

Mount Gilead NC Congregation Elders work with the local Government and DSS. They have people that help them hide CSA in Montgomery County NC. Can’t even call the police because the Elders work with the DA and the Magistrate here. Smh 🤦‍♀️
