Disfellowshipped Jehovah's Witnesses - Millennials Speak Truth, Why Are So Many Leaving? 

That's one of the best comments I have heard: 'They build a world around you and then threaten to take it away from you'. This absolutely sums it up in a nutshell.

The thing that is really SICK is a person who speaks out against the organization revealing the TRUTH about it, it is viewed as an unforgivable sin.. But a brother who is a pedephiler which is a serious crime!! They are forgiven!!!

Why Are So Many Leaving?..........Simple answer..the internet..knowledge is power

We did not leave 'the truth'. We left what the org/jws told us was 'their truth'. Their truth is a lie. IMHO, if you can, I think it wise to start making friends before you fade/disassociate. If you are dating someone in the org and you start waking up, realize you may have to let go. It isn't worth spending the rest of your life in utter misery. Move on. You will find someone who loves you for who you truly are-yourself!

You are absolutely right JT. People outside need to know. I was raised around JW'S. My mother studied. My uncle's wife was a JW. I looked at JW'S as really nice. I joined not knowing and arguing with my family and friends that is was not a cult. I was raised catholic and when I became a JW no one stopped talking to me in my family or otherwise. Learning people's own parents or siblings will never talk to them again is crazy and a cult. It is a cult.

This will be the downfall of the organization. Intelligent, aware, empathetic, critical thinking young people. Blessings to all concerned in this interview.

My mother came into the “truth” when I was around 4 years old. I’m the eldest of her 5 children, so my siblings were born in the organization and know nothing different. I was born in 1958, so in 1962, JWs had racial undertones reflective of that era. I had an affinity for music and was allowed classical piano lessons. By age 12, I was “privileged” to lead the congregation in song for every meeting, with piano accompaniment. I also played at the circuit assemblies until age 23 when I was disfellowshipped for conduct unbecoming a Christian. Although I graduated high school with a 4.0 GPA, 3rd in my class of 1977; my mother discouraged all secular education. My white JWs peers were encouraged to pursue college, however most JWs of color were not. I wanted to major in computer information science which was the trend at that time and even predicted the organization would transition their printing presses to a computerized operation. And they have. Needless to say, I felt lost at age 23; I was banned and shunned away from my entire world. I appealed the disfellowshipping which was a precedent! The judicial committee was stunned and had to seek help from the society. However they did have a circuit overseer decide that the decision stood. I told them I wouldn’t EVER return to their unjust and evil organization, and I have not. Most of you only know of the over-orchestrated recordings on vinyl or the cds. Piano players were no longer given that “privilege” to accompany the congregation after I was disfellowshipped as far as I know. I have done my own research into JWs and learned of the masonic dogma and rituals, misinterpreted scripture, racism, protection of child abuse and other mandated reportable abuses, amassed real estate fortune, without any outreach to its dedicated publishers who’ve donated their entire lives and the lives of their children unto JW dot org. (Spelled out as to NOT create a link.) My mother and two siblings are still in the organization. Over the years I’ve tried to question them in a way that might provoke questioning the organization themselves. It’s very difficult to say the least, and the conditioning is so complete that any questioning of any kind as to the organization is a sin. Every exJW sharing their personal story is apostate. I totally appreciate the experiences shared here. Anyone reading this please know you will be just fine. Keep faith in Our Father rather than organized religion of men. Man is not the giver of Life; Only our Father. ✨🙏🏾✨

Excellent information from intelligent young men who show there is life, a fulfilling life, after leaving Watchtower. I'm old enough to have given birth to those gents so I hope the exjws of my 'generation ' will join me in saying this: I stayed alive past '75 and I'll still be on the scene after Covid-19. 😎

When my mother(devout JW) kicked me out, I tried to continue going to the KH. I had no support from the elders and very soon, I quit trying to be Witness. When I told my worldly aunt that I left theorganization, she said she was happy I left it alone. Things slowly went up from there.

Watchtower will NEVER provide any assistance to ANYONE because they are a business and NOT a charity (they should have their charity status removed) their only interest is TAKING and not giving!!! Even in a recent letter sent to the elders the main point of the letter was to ask for money!!!! SMH!!

I am a faded ex JW of 3 years. I am so pleased there are people speaking out about their JW experience. I know how scary the risk of being an "apostate" can be. But the brainwashing and cult-like lifestyle of the witnesses has disabled so many, especially those who grew up in the religion. So I'm glad there are strong, awaken individuals to put this information out. Thank you guys!

As a septuagenarian who spent many years in the org chasing an elusive dream, it brings me great joy when I see people waking up while they still have the energy and drive to make better lives for themselves. Instead of painting that time as all bad, they realize that they did get some marketable skills while in the org and are wisely using them. I know that I view things differently than most ex-jws. Maybe that is because I didn’t join expecting to find the love they claimed existed. I experienced no more love while in the org than I had experienced before I joined or am experiencing after I left. I became a jw because the god they presented was less evil than the evil one I grew up believing in-instead of burning countless people forever, he would just kill them and leave them dead forever. There were, however, many things I did not buy into. When I finally stopped deceiving myself about the bible, I was able to walk away from religion and am now enjoying my life on my own terms as a sentient being. Thank you for your part in my education.

What an impressive group of young men; Watchtower's loss!

I was raised from the age of 5 and left when I was 21, returned after 9 years and stayed with my 4 children for another 13 years only to realize I should have stayed out the first time. When I went back after the 9 years away it only took 3 months of meetings and repentance to be reinstated. My mom died in September shunning me and my only sister. I cared for her the last ten days of her life. My dad is 78 and still continues to shun us after my Moms death. No real hope here, I have tried but now realize it’s time to let all this go and heal. I am happily married with 4 adult children and 4 grandchildren all blessings proving life is what you make it. Love never fails.

All the privileges pissed me off. I was born with depression (mom's side of the family), and was told to not see a psychiatrist when I was 17, and then married to second JW who refused to let me get treatment for it. I tried to regular pioneer but couldn't. I was blamed by my ex for 2 decades. I have had other sisters diss me because I wasn't in their league of privileges. It made me sick hearing idiots on the platform at assemblies giving their stupidly lame experiences. It made me angry. I had put up with so much more than those morons. I was ignored by an elder after coming home from China, because he didn't like my husband. Well, I didn't like my husband either! And that elder by the way, killed himself by going into the bush, covering himself with gasoline and lighting it. He died of course. I feel that God has helped me through all of those trials. But hell, the organization is Satanic. Some brothers were kind and loving but on the whole, they are out for themselves with privileges, their fancy dancy homes, their high paying jobs, etc. while we minions are poor, uneducated etc. I got baptized for God, not the organization. They are bastards at the top.

Definitely one of the best pieces of advice is to mentally prepare yourself to have zero relationship with friends and family for the rest of your life. That’s what I did and it helped me to leave and never ever look back. It’s all a mental game

So on point on top of being a minority the watchtower prevents people from being more secure financially for that reason I took my minority boys and left forward moving for them!

It a wonderful feeling to have a support system after you leave. Any young people needs to get their money up or get a degree or trade so you won’t run back to your believing parents for help. I faded in 1996, in Afrika internet was a prrivilage then and I never even thought of getting the information about the Org. However, I finally woke up in 2004, even when I have faded for almost 7 years. Thanks, I always consider your platform the best amongst the best of EX-JWs. Dear Lady C & JT, I felt so uplifted by hearing from these young men. Polite, mannerly & intelligent. Their background being brought up as JW’s did help them BUT they had the savvy to leave that high-control group and I salute them.

It seems the common denominator with JWs that were raised in it is that most of the people we grew up with in the hall no longer go. Some friends that I thought would never leave have left. On friend of mine quit going like you cold quit cigarettes. LoL I love how this video panel got passed anger to develop themselves success is the best way to live.

Thank you, Lady Cee and JT and others on this channel for being there for people like me. I had to leave the JWs for the sake of my 2 boys, pre-teen and teen, who were being psychologically harmed by teachings that isolated them and made them feel terribly guilty for their non-belief. I will be looking for a nearby meet-up for my own support and to support others. Maybe you can help others get out earlier before they waste too many years of their lives on what is not the truth at all.

"When you leave the Organization, don't become a Poster Child." - Great Point!

This was awesome. To the "victim mentality" part, I think that while it is important to move on, it is equally important to not move prematurely. Success is subjective. So in some cases, money and college isn't the issue. You have to remember that ppl are literally facing their mortality, some closer than others. So take time to, instead of trying to close your eyes and forget your past, embrace it. It is a part of you. Make sure you fully understand why you were involved, how the mind works, and how you can use that experience to become a better human being overall. That is how you truly heal, with knowledge and understanding. Once you have that, everything else falls into place.

It's great that y'all have awakened, somewhat. Christianity is a stumbling block for many. Break that stronghold and be truly awakened.

This has hit home for me, one of the hardest things i had to come to terms with was knowing that all the bonds I've d established with persons within the organization would be diminished . It's a sad realization that when you leave, you may never have a relationship with the ones you love, especially family. I think this whole conversation is so awesome. I am a 62 year woman that is married to a wonderful man of 35 year's. My husband's family is die hard witness , he was born into it. I have always been a very strong headed person even as a child. My parents were die hard Catholics , my family was from the south, Texas & New Orleans , my aunt's& uncle's and cousins were Catholics & Baptist folk's. So when I married my husband 35 year's ago the first thing they wanted to do was convert me. I studied the Bible with witnesses & had Bible studies for years for me that was to please my husband. I would get so irritated with the whole situation ,for me I think the hardest thing was subjecting my children to this way of thinking. Finally as my children got older I just said I can't take this way of living , just told the witnesses I could not study any more . I was really sick of them and that was not healthy for me.My husband and I had so many conversations about religion ,and I did not try to change his or covert him I just told him to use his good common sense about everything. And pray on everything, because our God would never mislead us. I have so many stories to tell about studying with the witnesses. I just got sick of the foolishness. I know God got my back. I don't need a middle man to talk to my father for me . I have a great relationship with our God. I just know one thing God is good all the time. And I have a great relationship with our Father. I see some of the witneses I use to study with and it's all good. I will never be a slave to religion ever again. I see the falseness in religion a mile away. I say, use the gift that God gave you. We all have a gift, that God gave us. Some of us spend our whole trying to find that gift. Just pray on it and let our Father lead you.

I was fired as a Ministerial servant for disagreeing with elders and questioning their motives on certain issues. Have since left and happy.

"For me leaving at 24 and not having a college degree, it definitely was difficult." - Imagine someone like me that left at age 46 with no college degree. Well, I am working during the day and back to school at night... and secretly fight crime as a superhero. The point is, that cult may have dictated my past, but it won't decide my future. Thank you for the video! I was disfellowshipped in 2014 after spending my entire 18 years of life as a witness.(I was baptized around twelve y/o, pioneered.) It's so scary how true y'alls words are. 'Being good at school, but not too good.' Feeling superior because we had "the Truth". It was hard to unlearn and rewire my brain; how to truly manifest Love. It's hard to realize how insidious a set up they've made with disfellowshipping. But I'm fortune to have grown up in a divided household (a phrase no witness will utter lol) and my father supported me finding myself. It's very possible to have a life of contentment separate from the witness (the majority of humans have done so for a long while now, and will continue to do so). I will say it's hard not to see oneself as a victim since we are, in a way. I think it''s okay to admit the organization preys on certain types of ppl and exploits their fears under a facade of Love. But, over time 'victimhood' not my only metal of valor earned by traversing this life business. Beside earning my "I survived a Cult" badge, I've learned I'm strong. I can meet new ppl, form lasting connections; I can even survive having my entire world ripped from under my feet. And it's nice to know that so can you. Send much love! Please be safe, y'all.

Hearing Spencer say he was an athlete, third in his graduating class & didn’t pursue what was offered to him simply broke my heart & tears to my eyes. I think because of my learning disability, I would have given my right eye to have had his gift & gotten a college degree . When my daughter (also bright) enrolled in nursing school the elders came aknocking on our door persuading her to disenroll & apply for a job in Costco because the end was around the corner 😳 that was 9 years ago ! Loved the other fine young men, their experiences & what they have made out of themselves. No somber music playing in the background, walking aimlessly with their heads hung low as the WT videos depicts young people who leave the cult. So proud of you all !!!

Thank you so much! This was incredibly helpful. I was DF'd at 18, even though I was already married (forced) and had faded. My dad is the only member of my immediate family that shuns me, even though my aunt and uncle are pimo/former elder/faded. This video made me realize I e been waiting 20 years for a day that never come. I have to accept reality, and deal with the fact I will have no relationship with my dad.

54:40 I did the same thing. I could’ve have been at the very top of my class but I decided against it so I took shop classes to learn a trade and to have less homework so I can do more for the organization. Very true. Very true. You reminded me of that. So much waste! 🤦‍♂️

I've been out of it since the early eighties; yes it was hard for a while as I was knocking on doors at 5 yrs old. But it is laughable, yet sad. As for me and my household, we will serve tacos. (Margaritas 24:7). ❤️

It's true that sometimes when you leave and link up with and old friend later on down the line that has also left also it's not the same. Speaking from experience your thought process is different and apart from experiences you might have had together you really don't have much in common!

Seems being in your twenties and having some time to reflect leads many to use their common sense. When my husband was disfellowshipped for adultery and I received no assistance for the elders (even though I had gone to them for spiritual help), my eyes were opened. My “worldly” friends at work came to my aid, offering me assistance and help. Didn’t take long to realize JW’s were not what they touted all the years I was growing up. Left when I was 27 and never looked back. My parents never shunned me, only one of my brothers stayed in chose to shun, even though I was never dfw’d. Now two of my brothers and I are out, and still being shunned by the JW brother 35 years later.

I want to leave, but don't want to lose that relationship with my parents/aunt. I feel like my mother would still communicate with me, but I just don't want to take that chance right now. I have found out so many things that aren't right and how I was treated by other Sisters (jealousy).

I was not a born in became a Witness as a Single parent at 24 years old disfellowship in 2001 Reinstated in 2014 found enough proof about the Truth is a Big Lie last Month at a meeting March 2017 and I Welcome my Freedom from Watchtower Every day I do believe I left the man that I wanted and loved because I was a JW when we dated decided to stay in truth Then I had a chance in the 1990's to finished Police Science and was going to be hired Front Desk or Background Check at the Police Department my sister would not keep my little boy for 2 nights a week to get my degree and I helped her with her 2 girls off and on until one14 the other 13 the classes were not on meeting nights I was really hurt the Officer said he would keep my son ,change his shift and take me back and forth so I could get my degree he was known to be a good man and police officer but I didn't know him personally well enough to leave my son with so I did other jobs housekeeping,substitute teaching Personal Care Attendent but I wanted to work at the Police Department but im happy I left and did not stay end forever Depressed and Unhappy 😢 I enjoyed these young men experiences I can't relate to them in some way

I woke up after 40 years. Barbara Anderson woke me up. I wasn’t trying to find answers but my son sent it to me. I have to fade bc I’m still a pioneer. Don’t ever give up hope on people. I trusted these men way too much. I’m ashamed.

I was a born in and when I left, I didn't miss anyone. Not the conditional friends. Not relatives. No one. Not the meetings, not the field service, nothing. Now, that it's been a lot of years, I think I have been forgotten about. Which is the way it should be. I have lived my own life, my own way. The jehovah witnesses are just someone I used to know. Maybe, it's just a time thing. Maybe you just need to put them behind you. Even if it means your parents and family members. You adjust, regroup, evolve, I ching, Darwin.

Excellent panel. I still can't comprehend how we all fell for the WT bulls4it. I hope the gb disappears with all the money. Or gets thrown in jail. Some jdumbs will never wake up. The WT appeals to very selfish desires. They make you think YOU'RE so damn special because YOU believed the WT BS. WT - the love is fake but the hate is real. These young men are all well adjusted and are going to be just fine. They got out at about the same age I got in! Wish I had a damn time machine.

As I listen to many jw,'s talk about leaving, fading, and the fear of the struggle is so so sad and a little sinister. God, never intended for man to ever rule over man. Vengeance is mine said the Lord. It is unbelievable how people allow eight little/small men not only rule over their house hold yet, alone pretend the son, daughter, mother, father, etc ever existed is mind boggling to me. Jesus, taught family and love is to be the defining quality of a Christian. I am at a loss of words. I will continue to pray for all hearts and minds to be opened to accept God, as ruler rather than man.

Too often in the EXJW narrative we don’t hear enough of the diverse ethnicities and members that exist in the organization and the fact that we make up such a huge portion is another reason why it is so important. There's a song called kingdom Hall by Van Morrison... I think Van had a point to the song. This false religion the Jehovah's witnesses don't put any heart and soul into their singing worship. And I would love to hear you have some older folks like me, who have left the organization. For me, I have tons and tons to say about it. I've lived in the Caribbean, mainland China and visited many places around the world. I knew of a pimp that was DF'd in St. Maarten, and an alcoholic wife of Antigua branch in the 1970s. I had a terribly abusive husband that forced us to go to French Quebec for 7 years and then to mainland China for 3 years. ETc. etc.

Excellent video, with 3 brilliant young men. I only wish I could leave when I was younger. Unfortunately my awakening occurred when I was married with 2 children. Leaving Witctower I lost everything. Family, children, broken marriage. It's hard and the pain it gets bigger while the years pass by. Keep the good work Lady C and JT.
