An underwater scene in watercolour, white acrylic is used for the jellies, postcard white pen. Watch the whole thing for lots of tips and detailed instructions 😀 Daniel Smith watercolours are used in this tutorial
This is the most stunning tutorial on Underwater Seascapes, Linda!! The entire process was mesmerizing to watch and quite a process for you too! All your hard work in teaching us really paid off, one of these day's I'm going to give it a try. Your painting is so lovely and realistic. Thank you so much
Hello again Linda. I actually did this tutorial a few weeks ago and now have created an absolutely beautiful seascape. Great fun to do. My husband has framed it because our Granddaughter has claimed it. Many thanks.🎉
Fantastic work Linda! I'm looking forward to giving this a go! Lots of techniques in this one to try out in this scene, and also for other scenes! Thanks again for sharing! Robyn
Hey Linda, this was amazing, I am only just starting out with watercolour and really loved how well made your video was, two things I realize this is from one year ago and someone else might have given you this idea, instead of all that puffing with a straw they do make an artist's puffer but they are an added expense, my friend told me she uses a kids bath toy, one with the hole underneath so you can puff any way you want to and not risk getting lightheaded, also a group of jellyfish is called a Bloom, a Smack, a Brood, a Shoal or a Fluther (yes I Googled it) Thank You again I look forward to watching more of your video's, Wendy from the U.K xXx
Linda, thank you. I have been playing with watercolours for just a few months and have watched untold numbers of youtubers. This tutorial is the first one that has persuaded me to slow down, not to rush into next bit before allowing drying time, and it's also the my first painting that I haven't hurriedly stuffed in a drawer! I'm really pleased with how easy it was to follow along with you and produce something I'm proud to leave out on display. Many thanks.
This was one of the most inspiring tutorials I’ve ever watched and I’ve watched 100’s….all the different techniques went together perfectly for this underwater jellyfish painting!! I absolutely love it!!! Can I ask why you used white acrylic instead of a white gauche? Thank you for such great informative videos!!
@@lindabrownartist had been wondering too. I used paint we call "Deckweiß" in German, which h comes with the usual school water colors, that are more like gauche. The Deckweiß comes in a tube and is more pasty. From it's smell, I guess it's some kind of water soluable acrylic paint. Thanks, once again, for this splendid tutorial.
love your beautiful jelly fish & the different techniques you have used. Looking forward to blowing out watercolors - love the effect! Would love to see the whole painting tho - would be much easier to follow along & get a true perspective with the whole painting showing.
Thanks very much Linda for another terrific video. I really love watching your techniques and you've got such a wonderful teaching ability too. Take care, David. X
I just discovered your wonderful style of painting. Please share more if you can. I love your work. You have given me such wonderful ideas for loose painting with your sessions on YT. Thank you!
@@lindabrownartist I painted something today because of your lesson on beginner landscape using wet on wet turquoise, Quin Gold. I loved it. Thank you!
I must try this! As you were working on the puddles of water, I was thinking how much easier it is for artists to get inspiration from RU-vid these days vs in the pre-digital era. I guess before internet could become known as the modern dark ages ;)
Thanks for the tutorial! I'm trying something similar on a canvas and I used chilli flakes instead of salt. I think I made mine too watery though 😅 will see if it dries
I followed your instructions and it turned out very nice. I did struggle quite a while with the part, where you are adding wet color after brushing off the rock salt, without reactivating the lower layers. It Loks so easy when you do it, but I really really really struggle with this step. 😮
Question: Is it possable to do the whole painting in acrylic paint, with using all the water that you use?I have been using the already made up paint from walmart.Tell me what you think.Jim Brandt
Definitely, I have painted quite a few canvases using acrylic and this theme. I have had jellyfish as the subject, and also dragonflies with transparent wings. However, adding lots of water to acrylic, reduces the fastness of the medium, making the paint unstable. You will need to apply a few coats of varnish to protect the artwork. I love varnish on acrylic, it definitely brings out the colours. I use a Matt varnish but of course any could be used, personal choice ⭐️
@@avanellehansen4525 it will reconstitute but takes a bit more time than watercolour, I use white gouache on my palette, you just need to blend well with the water.
