Jenna Ortega stared in the Netflix hit Wednesday series, a spin-off of The Addams Family that broke records since release. And yet when Jenna went on a podcast to talk about the Wednesday script and her changes to it. How she wanted Wednesday to be more like the original Addams Family character and tone, the backlash was swift. After Wednesday producer Steven DeKnight took to twitter to respond to Jenna Ortegas Podcast comments in a Wednesday interview. But is Wednesday worth watching on Netflix?

Jenna Ortega's comments amazed me because of how honest she was being, but when the backlash came, it became obvious this was another Henry Cavill situation. Her changes were not around her not wanting to do something, it was because she thought it didn't fit in with the Wednesday character. Seeminly signing before she read the Addams Family spin off scripts or realised the tone they were aiming before, she was trying to save a show destined for Netflix failure. And for that, the Wednesday producer lost it and attacked her. Fully happy to take the credit, but incredibly angry when we found out who was responsible for what the audience actually liked. It makes you think how much better the entertainment would be, if more people opened their mouth when they knew a script was awful. And the over the top backlash from the media to get her FIRED after breaking records on the show, proves how much they despise anyone who dares speak out against the quality of modern scripts. But what do you think? Let me know your thoughts down below and as always, thanks for watching :)

That's insane man lol like, some random passionate Gen Z actor goes into the industry just wanting to make great art for all generations of people & it succeeds heavily since she sticks to her gut feeling, and the idiotic brainsoft producers get angry at her because she's right and their egos are hurt. The truth is folks, creativity & passion for your work always out beats egotistical producers or writers that want everything to be about love triangles or cringe dialogue. All Henry Cavil wanted to do was make The Witcher the greatest TV show on Netflix with all his passion, they had everything, the biggest game title, an A list celebrity people loved, endless sources of money but they had to ruin it all by turning against him.

Fun fact: Leonard Nimoy was heavily noted for doing things like this on the set of Star Trek back in the day. He'd have full blown arguments with Gene Roddenberry and other people behind the scenes about how to portray Spock's character and would flat out refuse to do things that were out of character for him. He actually invented the "Live Long and Prosper" salute because he didn't feel shaking hands was very Vulcan. He also invented the Vulcan nerve pinch because he felt fist fighting was rather crude and violent for a species that prided themselves on their control of emotions. I don't think anyone's gonna argue the iconic nature of Spock. People who have never watched Star Trek know who he is, know the Vulcan salute, know his personality very well and a lot of that you can thank Leonard Nimoy for. Most of the time the difference between an iconic character and a mediocre one is an actor who is willing to speak up and fight for the character that they had a part in crafting. And we used to have respect for actors when they did that, not slam them. But I suppose now we just want actors to be mindless AI bots who we can program to do whatever we want in a scene and never question it or have ideas of their own.

The most important lesson I learned in acting class is that your number 1 role no matter what is to portray what the script says, you can offer suggestions but that's where the line ends. If she didn't like the script she shouldn't have signed it, simple as that. I hate this woke shite more than anyone nowdays but this kind of response is just silly. This ensures that, when failure inevitably occurs, the blame will be dispersed amongst the herd, with no one bearing sole responsibility for it; it also throws up so much chaff that it's hard to single out one particular person to take the axe to, in order to fix the problem. I found the whole plot of a serial killer and trying to clear Gomez' name really conflicting with the Addams Family themes of them loving pain, murder, torture and death. It felt like it was trying to force a more CW type plot line into the Addams Family universe which only served to test the convictions of their established personalities which are supposed to just be a joke for the audience, to which they ultimately had to back down and say "Yeah, you got us, we don't really like being murderers or getting stabbed. I had to read your post to be reminded of the "clearing Gomez's name" plot, even as I was struggling to remember just that one as one of the prime examples of ways that the Wednesday series seemed to forget what the Addams are all about. The plot itself was fine...but _not for the Addamses._ "My, aren't you a lady killer?" compliments somebody to Gomez. "Acquitted!" his his response. (Note: not "not guilty.") When the (presumed) stripper is baked alive in the cake, Gomez's reaction is one of genuine pity ("That poor girl...") followed by shaking it off with "C'est la vie!" and moving on with the bachelor party. Wednesday would never be offended that somebody would accuse her father of murder. She would be offended by the notion that her father would be _caught_ or otherwise would be so sloppy. She certainly wouldn't have issue with the possibility that he really _did_ do the crime! This was wildly incongruous with everything else, but I can definitely see why you couldn't fix that just with scene-by-scene changing Wednesday's take on things. Her motivation and the plot demands of this ill-conceived arc forced her to behave like a different character. IT would've required multiple episodes to be rewritten with underlying plot threads uprooted and rewoven to capture it correctly, I think.

@setakh Год назад
@@ComradeCommissarYuri Most likely yes. I think they wanted to deviate from the "old" Superman too much which would not sit well with Cavill. For me, Cavill is 'the' Superman, just like Ryan is Deadpool. Just perfect cast, played really well. But if they want to infect some nonsense into it, thats no longer Superman either way, so its better that Cavill is not tainting his career with a badly written show. But we need to wait and see if it even gets into production and what they'll do with it.

Sad but Cavill and Ortega are the exceptions, not the rule, most actors don't have the talent or skills to write or develop their characters.
@setakh
@setakh Год назад
@@pzmoore007 Yes, there are only a handful of actors right the top of my head who take time and immerse themselves into the character. Its usually method actors and Shakespeare actors (theater actors) who have a tendency to do so. A pity, but even a great actor can only do so much with a bad script and crap writing :( That needs to change first because it feels its low effort, just churning in bad quality films one after the other with a (very) few exceptions.

This is interesting. There were quite a few uncharacteristic things about Wednesday in the show. If what we got was “saved” version of Jenna, I can only imagine how different their version would be
@dazzlingdexter5060
@dazzlingdexter5060 Год назад
Honestly, they should not have had Xavier and Tyler having a crush. They should have had Xavier trying to befreind her. Since they childhood best friends even though Wednesday doesn't remember him. Than have Tyler try to befreind and date her as well as try to befreind the rest of the outcasts. Enid will be initially suspicious because her like the other outcasts probably have a bad experience with normies but also Enid being empathetic senses something is off about Tyler but can't place it. Though this could also be framed as jealousy or possessiveness which is also in character for Enid. So Tyler ultimately befriends everyone just to betray them and Wednesday realize he is the Hyde after she kisses him. Than trys to torture him but everyone is reluctant cuase they were befreinded. Just to reveal Wednesday was right all along and even though Wednesday is a jerk sometimes she was right and ultimately doing the right things for the right reason. Which she was in the show she just didn't bother explaining "I'm trying to protect you guys from literally dying!" Which if she would have at least expressed this to Enid I think Enid would have understood but Wednesday did none of this. They literally could have kept everything the same but just not make Xavier a love interest what so ever. Also make Tyler befreind or try to befreind everyone before ultimately betraying them. Would have been more impactful

All the ones that have been attacking Ortega very well know it as well, but they are not willing to admit it because of their own egos and insecurity.

Jenna will blow up when it comes to acting. If she cares this much passion for her work and even willing to fight the writers to get the best quality of her and their work. She called out the stupid actions in an act of niceness. Trying to meet what she thought was a mutual goal to make the best work possible for the audience. Even if it’s not said all that much out loud, she has a massive amount of support and respect.
