Perhaps because a) he was kind of starstruck and in shock - not sure what to do, or b) she seems capable of walking up the stairs herself. I understand that it may have seemed polite, but it also could seem patronising :)
It's a contrasting view so different ways between an American(Jennifer Aniston and her athletic body with a huge slit in her dress showing her shapely and tanned legs to Benedict Cumberbatch! Jennifer Aniston is not ashamed? If it was I would not even be with this very sexy dress,i would get Purple ashamed to show my legs in this way for someone i don't know right!) from a authentic English gentleman ! Is very funny least! I'm not Anglo-Saxon and I think it's cool when we can notice these differences even in accent between these two who speak almost the same language on both sides of the pond which for them became the Atlantic Ocean!
