All Jennifer had to do was to get a job and save money to move out to get on with her life . What she did to her parnets was callous , evil and horrendous .It was in excusable. However her parnets were very strict and wanted her to achive and were pushing too hard .She should not have lied about going to university/ volunteering at the hospital

She looks like a broken and defeated adult woman. Its a tragic story. Parenting is such a huge responsibility, people need to think of the consequences of their actions.

The crux of this case, is that the parents had unrealistic expectations. They should have taken her to an educational psychologist, tested her personality type, interests and aptitude. Once those three things align, you can start discussing the types of jobs that would suit her best. You can't simply become a Dr. It's extremely unrealistic. You carry on doing these tests till they start applying for University. It works! You also need to have alot of discussions with them while they grow up, watch which subjects they excell in, learn to know their interests, likes and dislikes. It's completely about them and not you, the parent. Young kids and teenagers need to socialize with their peers ALOT. It's almost more important to be socially well adjusted in society, than having straight A's, really! You need to see a smile on your kids faces... poor girl. I honestly pitty her, murder was not the answer, but the parents were a contributing factor to her frustrations. Parents can drive their kids into depression, that is for sure. The big joke is, that it's not so important to be a Dr or lawyer etc, but to live up to your own potential, if it's being an artist, then that's it! It's misguided parenting, the parents needed counseling by a school teacher or principal. That is what they are there for, to advise parents. It's important to participate in school activities to see what you like or are good at. It lessens inhibitions. It was ",poor" parenting, they should have encouraged her to find her niche! Locking your kid up and keeping her out of society is just about the WORST thing you can do to a child. In this case, she was a young adult. She should have left home and made sence of her life somewhere else. If the foundations of her life was healthy, she would not have committed murder, possibly her situation created a mental deviation. I pitty her. If she went through such lengths to lie to her parents, she must have been very afraid of their disappointment or rejection. Yet, murder is not an answer AT ALL... it would make her misery only worse.

It's true she killed her parents and, when confronted by what she did she asked, "What happens to me?"; however, she is NOT a serial killer. This term has a definite definition and it is sad that people don't take the time to look up this definition before throwing out labels. Who else did she kill besides her parents? Any evidence of her going on a killing spree over a long period of time killing various people in a variety of places? Her parents, under the guise of 'wanting the best for Jennifer', decided to control her and live vicariously through her. Even if murder doesn't enter into the equation, this is not a normal relationship. Jennifer convinced herself that she had no other option than to do away with her handlers so she could be free.

First of all, it’s not like this is even remotely the most harsh case of Tiger parenting, not by a long shot. Secondly, it’s not like it’s a frequent occurrence where someone murders the parents for being Tiger parents, it’s an anomaly. She’s the anomaly. And it’s not like she even murdered them for being Tiger parents, it was for the money. Remember, they gave her the CHOICE to live with her boyfriend and not move back in, she CHOSE to move back in with the AGREEMENT to live under stricter house rules in exchange for continued financial support.

I had parents like this and I can tell you that it's like living in captivity and there is no escape because they are your parents and it's your culture. If a stranger treated their children the way some immigrant parents treat their own flesh and blood, and the child killed the stranger, it would be self-defense. But when it's the parents who literally keep their child in a prison that they cannot escape no matter how old the child is, and they do the unthinkable out of desperation believing it's the only way to break free from the suffocating never-ending oppression, well then she's labelled "evil" and gets put away for murder.

These programs are all the same. Here's the script, the recipe, so to speak. (feel free to use it) Victim: 1: They were the life and soul of the party. 2: They lit up the room. 3: Never meet a better person Killer: 1: Tortured animals. 2: peed the bed. 3: Abused as kid. 4: Often seen on occasion looking in windows after midnight knocking one out. BOOM, Two worlds collide. Cops stumbles and mumbles through investigations munching donuts and everytime they get a rise out the public They make the same textbook preset broad statement that usually includes. " People have the right to go where they want and if they choose not inform anybody that's not against the law " " give it a few days and they will be back, after all they are most likely with a friend somewhere" Then when bodies start piling up: " we don't see any evidence of a pattern " " Just be careful when your out in the dark " The Arrest: When they eventually stumble over the so obvious clues, which they only get when the screwball gets sloppy they get their man. Then it the good ole pat on the back time. they go on news and talk about what a jolly good job they've done. All the dedication and sleepless nights they have had. Then they proceed to slap their left thigh with their right hand and then the back patting continues with quotes like "I wanna give a shout out to the state police, sheriff's department" And even though you can tell they don't like them sticking their nose in and it's usually the only reason they get a conviction, you get the "And a special thanks to the F.B.I" It's always the same. Ps: I really wish the narrator's would just stop saying "Then they turn up dead" Which is absolutely absurd. After all its impossible to turn up dead. You can be found dead, but nobody turns up dead. If you don't want to be brutally murdered then there is a simple way to avoid it. Always be an a**hole at a party. They people are never on these shows. Anyway, have a good day my fellow hoomans.

The quality of the audio and the way speakers talk make it hard to follow ( not talking about the accent). All people having bad parents don't turn murder. She had the age to work and go build her own life so i have no empathy for her.

This criminologist annoys me so much.... it doesn't matter what interrogators do, he will still have a problem with it. Wait for the criminal to be ready to confess??? are you kidding me!!!.... when this interview was conducted, they already had enough evidence that she was involved. Geez!! They were able to convict everyone else involved and obtain justice because of this interview

My sentiments exactly he is very nit picky but does not give any specific technique and hopes on the good graces of a criminal to own up and confess 😆🤷‍♀

They don’t sound like they have any evidence, just false narratives. Even she did manage to kill her time, it seems like they framed her to help her

But, she is not a serial killer. That's a double homicide. There are certain criteria that would make someone called serial killer.

I just don't think it should be legal for a detective, or investigator to lie, or be deceitful in questioning a suspect. Was the girl read her rights? Was the girl told that at any time she could stop the interview and talk to a lawyer. But while it was wrong to try to murder her parents, I think her parents pushed her into a corner and the girl thought that was her only way out.

This show is rubbish, left out a whole lot of details, painted her as a "victim" of her parents "abuse" when in actual fact if you care to do your research properly, you'll find that her motivation for getting rid of her parents was largely due to $$$. Her parents were strict and wanted desperately for her to succeed & be somebody but they weren't abusive! They came to America with nothing & they worked really hard to provide for their kids, come on, she had piano lessons and ice skating lessons at the age of 3 or 4 onwards, they slaved away to give her the best opportunity! They financially supported her eventhough she was an adult! They provided for her thinking she was going to college when in actual fact she was living with her boyfriend for 2 years! Her parents just believed the lies that she fed them without even checking into it, when they found out, they were furious but they still gave her options. Option 1 - They 'd still support her but she had to go back to school, stop seeing her bf because after her parents met her bf, they didn't like him! After all what parents would want their daughter dating a drug dealer! Option 2 - they'll cut ties with her & she could continue to do whatever she wanted! At this stage, she could have just walk away from her parents, get a job support herself if she simply just wanted to be free of her parents expectations/demands but no she chose to stay home, continue to lie to her parents & ploted with her drug dealer bf to murder her parents so she could walk away with the inheritance! Her parents are the real victims here, she made her choice! Her mum last moments was spent begging the gunmen to spare her daughter! Yet people are so harsh to judge her parents!

thought the show was about understanding serial killers and detecting them. Instead it looks like they spend more time criticizing police tactics. Criticizing America police and hinting that British police tactics are better. Yet every british police interrogations consist of hours long recordings of criminals saying "no comment " to every question asked of them. Then British police have to guess why they committed the crimes instead actually getting confessions.

British policing is learning the culprit, apologising for racism, then letting them go free.

She didn’t even do actual killing. Bet she wishes she had just left home at 18 like most of us do. It’s not as though she was beaten or starved or treated like the Turpin children, she was an adult ,(24 yrs old.) I’ve only ever heard Jennifer’s side of this story not her dads and of course not her mothers. There are always 2 sides to a story. I’d like to hear the other side.

Her parents created the circumstances of their own destruction by forcing their mid 20s daughter to be what they want nothing about her or whats she's wants or is capable of she could have been a piano teacher but no they forced her to become something she couldn't be and she's trapped she has no out like the guy said she doesn't have the mental capacity to say no I can't do what you want of me im capable of teaching piano or something else I can do but not what you want me to be sorry folks but I'm not able to be all you want only what I know myself that I can be ,the parents were mentally very mentally abusive to her they backed her in a corner she didn't have the mental know how to escape its as much on them as her more so on them from what I can tell she needed someone to step in and protect her from over achieving and over bearing and expecting parents but truth be told she could have chose another path other then killing them but it seems she didn't think she had another out other then killing them. Parents like them Asian parents can be extremely mentally taxing on a young person she was 24 but mentally stunted by them like he Said to the age of a 15 year old it's sad .
