Finally, an Um Jammer Lammy playthrough that properly emulates my experience with this game when I was a child. The disc got scratched to hell and, although I haven't gotten too far in the video, I imagine Jerma will experience the horrifying nightmare of being on Good just for it to jump below awful and Teriyaki Yoko unexpectedly grows and puts you down.

Teriyaki Yoko's stage breaks a man. Way harder than anything in Parappa 2. This entire game starts out harder than all of Parappa 1 to be honest, I feel like they did that on purpose

I'll be honest? Difficulty aside, I like it. Despite me not growing up with anything PlayStation (save for some cross-platform titles), the music in this stage stands my nostalgia hairs on their ends. Like the beat sounds vaguely bollywood-like, there's a perfect blend of major and minor keys, and the background aesthetic and color theory makes me think of that plug-and-play Wheel of Fortune game. Carla Cook's vocals compliment said instrumental quite well too…

For those wondering, in the song where she goes back in time that Jerma kept messing up on, in non-American copies Lammy slips on a banana peel and goes to hell. Then there's a sorta funny joke where she says "Well if I died then the game's over..." then there's a fake credits scroll, which is way better and contextualizes what's happening better. The American version is the inferior release because of the ESRB's strict rules on religious references.
