This is true HD they were remastered from original 35 mm film that was shot in widescreen 16/9.they were cropped only for the dvd release and for TV. so you get more picture with this copy. these are way better quality than dvd. It didn't necessarily need 'HD' cameras, but the problem with a lot of 80s and 90's show was that they decided to record most shows to Videotape, and not Film, to save on costs. TV Shows recorded to proper Film generally see proper HD releases.
