I'm not now, and haven't ever been a fan of Goodell. I think he's the lightning rod the league owners put up to absorb all of the bad press inherent and prevalent in professional sports, and that he seems to relish being that guy, as well as the arbiter of most of these players' careers. If there was some sort of showdown between Dan Snyder and Roger Goodell over control of the league, I am team Roger all the way. You have to be quite the scumbag to get on the wrong side of looking worse than Goodell.

@@timmyboy2495 It's the arbitrary and inconsistent application of league discipline (or lack thereof when inconvenient) without any review process. Goodell makes those decisions himself, and there is no way to divert it, which opens him, personally, to criticism by the fan base and media whenever anything remotely controversial gets ruled. If he'd been cleverer he would have set up a disciplinary committee that he controlled, but that made disciplinary rulings in their own name. It would've deflected a lot of the vitriol pointed at him (of course, I think him absorbing that venom on behalf of the owners is what his actual job description is).

@@airborngrmp1 While I agree with 99% of what you said. Setting up a committee wouldnt divert much. And sure Goodell has had his mistakes but hes much better than Manfred. One could even argue hes running the NFL better than Adam Silver is running the NBA. Adam Silver has no back bone in my opinion and lets the players rule the league.

Way back in the day I used to be a manager at the papa johns that delivered to papa John’s home. I u fortunately ram into him a few times in the area, in which he reached out his gorilla hairy arms to shake my hand. All I could think about was those super hairy arms contacting and slapping out pizza dough, leaving remnants of his existence with every pie. My mom also worked at the corporate office, and heard many a crazy story about his habits and lifestyles. He’s a man who rose so high, but fell so hard.
