One of the most underrated drummers ever .His playing on Harder Faster / Stand Back is outstanding. The power in his solos is without parallel. His feel helped make April Wine the band it is.
I just love this guy. So genuine. And absolutely one of rock's most all-time under-rated drummers. What a powerhouse! He was also one of the original bald guys in rock. Very kick-ass that he started shaving his head at the end of the '70s, totally pulling it off at a time when almost all rockers still had much hair. We still love you and miss you in Texas, Jerry!
Been listening to Jerry's drumming for almost 40 years and never heard an interview with him until now, so glad I listened to this, he is a class act on AND off the drums! :)
I fashioned my tight solid disciplined drumming listening to Jerry as a teen. He was always my favorite drummer. He influenced me as I honed my talent. I , eventually over the years of performing had a chance to become a professional drummer. But due to family and having young children and stability of work etc etc I had to let it slip thru my fingers and walk away. That was back in 1999. I haven't played since.
Wow, great interview!Jerry is such a likeable guy..I remember seeing AW back in the 80's @ CNE Stadium and was blown away by their performance!OOWATANITE was Jerry's song to perform and that he did, with a solo like I was dumbfounded!Small mind, big city ! What did I know about Rock n Roll ?Hope Jerry is well these days? thanks for sharing this great video !Cheers, MBN
Very interesting interview because reading from Myles Goodwyn's book, back then Jerry was a big drug user and the reason he left the band was when Myles told him to "Get off the Drugs or Leave April Wine". Jerry decided to leave the band.
