One of the reasons Jess is so great is character development. He goes from being a rebellious teen to a successful adult. Wish I could say the same for Rory, but she went completely downward.
@@lizziebkennedy7505 Exactly! I didn't mind Logan but Chilton Rory wouldn't have let him slide in to her life. She treated most of the guys she had as bfs good for only a minute but when a new guy came in she dumped the old ones.
@@lizziebkennedy7505 yeah they really used her character to create drama instead of focusing on dev the character. But Rory was never really the main character, more about loreli although they didn’t do the best with her either 😬
malf0ygranger I liked Logan too. Actually after finishing the entire series plus the revival and reflecting a little I think I ended up liking every other character much more than I did Rory and Lorelai haha
Yea that is one of the points of the series though. Rory gets the guys without trying. She just exists and they appear. Meanwhile we see Paris, Lorilai and Lane struggle or accept problematic men(at least from their own perspective). It is one aspect of the story of privilege. In this case Rory's beauty and charm. Lots of tv series have the characters have strings of unrealistic relationships. But I love that Gilmore girls calls it out even if so many people watching the show missed it.
@@peterisawesomeplease I like how she was not portrait as the forever good and innocent kid who is the only one that is never reminded of her own flaws but everybody else around her. People confronted her and i appreciate it, because it takes big part in the characters growth. Sure it was unrealistic in other ways, but the conversations, especially when it comes to day to day problems were pretty relatable. In general i like how the characters in the series were not afraid to talk things out without constant hesitation.
Jess was always the perfect match for Rory but after the revival, i'm not sure Rory is the perfect match for him. His character grew on so many levels and Rory just sorta got lost.. However - i'm "Team Jess" forever and this video compilation is awesome so THANKS CASEY!
Everyone likes to say that Jess is jerk and that he treated Rory like crap...But he seriously waited until she was ready to be with him. Yeah he messed with Dean early on but in the end he didn't force Rory into anything she kissed him first. Even after that Jess backs off and waits for her. So boo to all the jess haters.
I think Rory was a jerk though for leading Dean on like she did. Kind of felt bad for him. Rory knew she liked Jess and knew Jess liked her so she should have just ended it with Dean earlier.
I love how effortless and natural their flirting is ❤️ with dean rory was panicking and struggling to make a connection but with jess the chemistry just is there
@@IchibanOjousama what theory is this?! I have never heard of it and am intrigued and want to know more. Like I wonder if every boyfriend has an 'effect' and what it would be...
I’ve always loved Jess. He was the only one I felt both loved AND appreciated Rory at all stages, even when he wasn’t the best at communicating it. To be fair, I kind of understood that though since he was only 17 and not from the best background. I always felt Dean was too possessive and they didn’t have enough in common; Logan was too destructive and at times pretentious which I didn’t feel matched Rory’s energy. Jess was the perfect mix of keeping Rory on her toes, while having enough in common to form a connection in my opinion.
Thi D. I do love them together. But my fave GG couple is, has been, and always will be, Luke and Lorelai. I love them together. Even from the beginning when you just wanna shout to them "just kiss him/her already". Lmao!!
Rory didn't have a normal upbringing, her family were overprotective and expected too much of her. She wasn't able to live her teen years normally, Jess rebelled while Rory...we can see the effects, mostly psychological, of her upbringing in the current season. She is sleeping with an engaged man and at one point married Dean (if you're a psychology major, the attachment theory should be easy for you to pick on, you could look this up too), she's has no sense of direction because she was not allowed to rebel or explore her adolescence appropriately, unlike Jess, whom rebelled and was able to successfully explore his adolescence and relationships. That's why Jess has more direction than Rory does as of the current season. I am team jess not for Rory but simply Jess.
I like to think they were it was clear in the revival that they still had something. Rory hopefully doesn't end up with Logan. He is too much like her Dad.
I am personally Team Jess, but I hate it when people say that he was always the best choice for her. When she was with him the first time, he was a jerk and treated her horribly, bailing on her and making her feel it was her fault that he was feeling the way he was. It was only after he matured that Rory truly belonged with him. He's the only who got her started again after she dropped out of Yale, and the one who got her to write the book. At the time that they were together, Jess wasn't the right one for her, but now that he's matured he's definitely the right one for Rory. Dean got too jealous way too easily, and Logan was too reckless. Mature Jess is good for Rory.
Noo, don't compare yourself with fictional characters! Think of all the production and scripts and actors and cameras, that's not reality. To not forget all the coaching actors do to get into a role and speak a certain way. You are beautiful and extraordinary, kay? Have a wonderful day!
Jess and Rory are soulmates, they have the same interests, they have such a big romantic spark, true love.i never liked dean .jory have a true connection, they balance each other out.jess is the only one that could get Rory out of her funk, the fact that they dated in the show and real life just makes it much better ❤️🔥😘😍😘💕the fact that they never slept together and they still are in love with each other deeply is amazing
Definitely! At least I find another person who doesn't find Rory perfect. She's beautiful but my God, like her mother, she's a non-stop talker who has to win every argument as if to display her wit and intelligence. I can't bear these two women. Just listening at them makes me exhausted. But Jess is awesome. As intelligent as Rory but in an effortless way.
I don’t think Rory ever stopped loving Jess they never formally broke up and when he came over later on to show her the book i think he was going to try to be with her again until he found out about Logan and I could tell Rory didn’t want to see Logan when her and Jess where supposed to go out. Also Jess is the only guy that Rory has dated that never cheated on anyone, Dean cheated on Lindsey, Logan cheated on Rory with the bridesmaids but Jess no one he didn’t even kiss Rory until he had broken up with Shane, he is also the only boyfriend that hasn’t slept with Rory even though he was the only boyfriend Rory ever talked about being ready to sleep with, with Lorelai. That is basically why i love Jess ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Rory kissed Tristan and Jess when she was dating dean, slept with dean when he was married, slept with Logan when he was engaged and when she was dating someone else .... what the hell
Rory made a mistake turning down Jess. They are most alike and they are the best couple. Dean was a good first boyfriend but Jess had the most in common with Rory. And Logan made her into someone a didn’t like
Have y'all noticed she's cheated on everyone except Jess and when she cheated on Dean and Logan it was with Jess I don't know if y'all think a kiss is cheating but she kissed Jess with Logan and Dean
I love these two together. This chemistry!! I always loved Jess, but now I love him even more and I´m convinced, that he is the is the "Luke" for Rory.
Same. It’s because every single time, in that moment that he says ok, the tough guy persona breaks for a moment and he’s meeting her where she is and in what she’s asking for. In every ok, he’s treating her with respect and love.
I spent 20mins just thinking "I love Jess, just the way he is and the way his voice scratches and rumbles 😍😍😍" Like I've always loved how when they first met, Jess says "Let's bail" and Rory tells him there's nowhere to go, and his suggestion is to walk around or sit on a bench and stare at their shoes. Like I love that, I would to do that with Jess 😂😂😍😍
Jess didn't treat rory badly.... Its just that he didn't had supportive parents or anybody that can support and understand jess so he was not used to share his emotions... But we all can see that he really cared about luke and rory.... And being a bad boy he changed into a really perfect gentleman... So jess is the best male character in Gilmore girls... And he deserves to be happy and his happiness lies in rory... So i hope they will end together ❤❤❤❤
i want this. idc i want all of their relationship, i want the anger, the sorrow, the rebellion. but i want the happiness and caring and love. the serotonin i get from watching them is insane like, damn.
I've always been team Jess from the beginning. Although Logan is a combo of Dean and Jess, I've preferred Jess. Dean just seemed like the typical boyfriend but they never really had anything in common. Jess also intrigued/changelled Rory in a way that Dean didn't until she met Logan.
Eiramzify as much as I adore One Tree Hill I wish Chad Michael Murray has been able to carry Tristan's arc on a little longer. I really liked him. Also I so wanted him to have at least a cameo in the revival!
@@enelmartodoesfelicidad You should watch Anne with An E on Netflix or Anne of Green Gables. Anne and Gilbert are like a super cute couple and were meant to be together.
This is like the hundredth time I'm watching this and It's good every time... I like their chemistry and their conversations and quick comebacks...and you can feel their connection and their feelings developing ... it's so sad the minute they get together, it was the end for them, it's like the writers wanted to get rid of jess at all costs...
One thing I like about Rory is that even though she's young, she's her own person. She doesn't let other girls influence her like some other girls like their friends influence them. And Rory holds herself strong and speaks her mind around the boys and she's confident with them. That's probably why she attracts a lot of boys. When I was a teenager my world would have crumbled apart if a guy even looked at me wrong. And I would get all giggly and awkward and shy. Idk lol I admire her for being so comfortable In her own skin. Of course I haven't watched Gilmore Girls in years but I used to watch it faithfully but that was a good 10+ years ago lol so I'm speaking from someone who hasn't watched most of it in years. But that's how I always perceived in her character.
i completely agree :’) sometimes when i think this, i also love thinking about how she’s a mini lorelai, very similar but in her own way and just as dorky as her mum 😂 so i love this. seeing how rory is as a person inspires me to raise my future daughter, not in the exact same way of course, but a little bit how lorelai raised her. (:
14:01 Okay, so does everyone remember the Princess Bride, where whenever Westley told Buttercup "As you wish," he was really saying "I love you"? I am willing to bet money that Jess and Rory have both read the book and watched the movie, as they are both classics. Make of this comment what you will.
I wish he would have said AS YOU WISH when she told him not to say a word about the kiss or when she said she wouldn't run away from yale with him. This comment is perfect!
oh god those were just the best times..😍😍 It always annoyed me that they were so damn cute and perfect back then and when they finally got together he became a real jerk and mistreated her so badly.. Still want them to be endgame tho. they're just meant to be ❤❤❤
I’ve always kind of been sure Logan was the best for Rory but now having seen what Rory becomes in the revamp I’m not a fan that she’s grown into a woman that tempts an engaged man. I think Logan never encouraged her to go back to uni which was what was necessary and Jess did. I hate to admit it but not only did he encourage her best abilities in encouraging university but he also was able to have intellectual conversations which Dean couldn’t. Damn Jess was the best for her
Well Logan was just a boy who went with his parent’s wishes sicne they didn’t approve of him with Rory when they were young kids. So she being first before his fiancé doesn’t make it right but the guys La led a backbone to stand up to his parents or he didn’t love her disrespected her to use her like mistress, not stand up to marry her make her wife. A real man would.. so was 1) was Logan a wuss, not a real man who loves her but not enough? Or 2) Logan didn’t really love her THAT much.
Omg, when he turn it back on just so dean could it!!! Dammmme!! The way he was looking at her was heartbroken!!! And at the end he ask her if she was officially done with dean. He went to go breakup with girlfriend!! 😭 😭
Aww this made me cry. Rory and Jess were perfect for each other no matter what. I miss them, they were so compatible and adorable. Honestly as much as I liked Dean and Logan she should have chosen Jess :(
