John Stevens RULES as one of the most diverse interpreters of Judas that there is. John Farnham singing like a heavy metal Michael Bolton is just perfect, I love him.This whole aussie version is wonderful, it takes SOOO many different liberties and directions with the melodies, and it just sounds so full of an unique personality. That's just unmatched.

Glad I went to see it! At the time I was only 22 so didn"t fully appreciate how great a performance it was! So glad to be able to watch it again now and fully appreciate it! Much thanks to the uploader!

This is an epic performance by some of the most astonishing performers. I love David Hirshfelder's arrangement.

Fantastic musical with an awesome cast. Some of Australias biggest and most talented superstars, and all down to earth lovely people. Was lucky enough to see this show a couple of times and meet the enitre cast and get autographs.

This was the best Jesus and Judas EVER. Period.

I saw this with my brand new wife in Sydney in 1992. I thought the set was incredibly clever - I always use that to remind myself that there are people who just "understand" these things - I just appreciate them. I liked that the music kept returning to refrains from earlier. Kate Cerebrano's voice was pure and clear and magnificent (although I slightly prefer Helen Reddy's version) At one stage the PA went out and John Farnham just kept singing and filled the auditorium. A truly magnificent voice. The first act was slow but building. Then Angry Anderson strode onto the stage and the whole world changed. Thank you for putting this online

I saw this show in Melbourne, my two favorite singers were John Farnham and Jon Stevens. It was a fabulous production.

I had the pleasure of seeing this production at the Australian Tennis Centre.. Jon Stevens was electrifying.. The entire cast was terrific, but Jon, oh and Angry really stood out.

One of the best expierences I had playing Jesus in a play went 3 nights sold out and had the time of our lives!!! Was awesome!!! Great songs great story!!! Ps: remember when the leader of the production gave me this recording and said u do the John Farnham role, I listened chased him down the next day and said Jesus Christ all right how the hell u think I’m gonna hit those notes lol 😂 did a minor version octaves down of the High notes obviously lol 😂

Was at the Perth production in 1992 with John Waters at the Perth entertaiment centre, no longer around. Watching this again 26 years later it has not lost its wow factor. Farnham and Stevens upped their ante on this one.

So much nostalgia! I never got to see the show (soooo jealous of my bro!) but wore out the CD/tape during primary school. Had completely forgotten about this until a couple of months ago and can appreciate it so much more now than I did then. It's such a shame that more wasn't on the CD - Jon Stevens as Judas is magnificent (chills in Judas' death).

This is NOT John Waters as Pilate, this is Peter Carol.... This production has to be my all time favourite, stellar all star cast, arrangements and orchestrations by John Hershfelder (spelling?)... Pure magic!

They should release this into a DVD Such awesome Aussie talent right here !!

I never saw John Waters perform (unfortunately), but to be honest I'm obsessed with Peter Caroll's performance as Pilate - I think he balances the dignity/propriety and menace of the character really well; and his voice! Incredible! I prefer listening to this version rather than the recorded one, and if we're going off audio alone, he acts better too (sorry John!).

Why this was never released? I witnessed this Brisbane. Pinnacle of Aussie performers.

When the original came out i was 7-8 years old and now every time i hear "Superstar" i sing the song we all sang as kids in the school yard: "Jesus Christ Superstar Burnin' down the corner in a motorcar. "Cops come up, we don't care, we got bullet proof underwear". Aahh good times as a kids. Yah can never get it back.

Hi! Me again! Was just thinking - where is Act 2- looked to drop down menu on right of screen and there it was !!! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Do NOT understand WHY they NEVER released this to buy? It was such a brilliant and innovative production with amazing Australian talent ! The DVD certainly would have sold out !!

Thank you so much! The Arrest and Could We Start Again were amazing to see. Along with Damned for All Time cannot believe they were left off the CD / cassette. As for Herod's song.. wow, off key, forgotten lyrics. Wonder was that meant to be, or was Angry adlibbing.

It's great when they list the band names and don't say what they play. Some are more famous than others of course. But the drummer is an unkown. Now I gotta go searching the net. 57:27 edit:14 mins later. Andrew Gander was the drummer on the live version.

This is probably my favourite production of JCS, without a doubt. I just don't like how they don't actually whip John nor tie him to a cross like they do in other productions. It takes me out of it a little. I still love it though.

Is it just me, or during Blood Money and Judas' Death, is is one of the other High Priests who's singing lines usually sung by Annas? Or perhaps in This Jesus Must Die are Annas' lines just sung by that same other High Priest? Any help here would be appreciated! Hahah cheers

John Farnham is obviously a tremendous singer, but it feels almost like he's showing off, straying too far from the original lyrical melodies. Unlike Jon Stevens, who just nails it.

I'm surprised at how many people like this. I could barely stand it. It just seems like people trying to show off instead of interpret/act the story. But a lot of people love it so...I must be missing something lmao

Wow, really not that good. Judas and Mary are good, Jesus not so good. All over the place with his vocals. Staging is silly. Costumes look like they got them from a Pirates of Penzance road show.
