Pastor Jeff, I hope you see my comment/question. When I talk to people about equal protection bills and the consequences for killing the unborn, I often get asked this question by fellow Christians…if we are going to apply that standard to the taking of an unborn life, then what about stoning for adultery, fornication, or homosexuality? They ask when we are going to start applying that standard. I also had someone ask me about the woman caught in adultery that Jesus did not condemn. I’ve watched a lot of your content and I haven’t seen a response to this specifically. I would love to know how to respond to Christians that parrot this talking point.

@Coal_Burner 5 месяцев назад
@@zacharyconover4444 well absolutely. I’m not against equal protection bills. I’m for them. This isn’t a gotcha question. When I try to talk to fellow Christians, these are the arguments I’m encountering that I don’t have a good answer for. What the people are getting at is that if we (abolitionists) are going to argue for equal protection and capital punishment for the mother based on God’s law, then are we also willing to issue capital punishment for adultery, fornication, and homosexuality based on God’s law? If we aren’t, then the response I get is 1. We’re hypocritical, 2. We aren’t really arguing for equal protection and punishment based on God’s law, and 3. All we really care about is punishing someone (the mother). I’ve tried explaining that we’re discussing murdering an innocent human being versus sexual immorality. I’m not condoning sexual immorality but I’m making the case that abortion is more grievous due to the taking of an innocent life. In spite of those points, the people hold steadfast to their original counter arguments.

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭6:18‬ ‭ [18] Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. This is what I believe is the difference between the capital punishment of Murder and living in sexual immoral sin

@@timpeleki3054 you’re right, I agree with you. But if we’re going to say that since we’re not abolishing the Old Covenant and that is where God says to stone adulterers and homosexuals along with capital punishment for murder/abortion, then how can we Biblically advocate for one without advocating for the other? These are the questions that “pro-life” Christians are asking.
@timpeleki3054

@@Coal_Burner I don't know if I'm doing this right but I'll give it a go: ‭‭‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:21‭-‬22‬ ‭ [21] “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.’ [22] But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire. ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭15:19 [19] For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander. Now all deserve hell but murder is under a governing authoritative law. ‭‭Romans‬ ‭13:1‭-‬4‬ ‭ESV‬‬ [1] Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. [2] Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. [3] For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, [4] for he is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God’s wrath on the wrongdoer. Which at the moment seems inconsistent, but historically the first century would have been way worse than today. And the going on to say: ‭‭Romans‬ ‭13:8‭-‬10‬ ‭ [8] Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. [9] For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” [10] Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. But abortion has turned against the authoritated law of the punishment for murder. So it must be up to the Christian to plead the case of fatherless, within the authority of the governing law, and to unvail the truth of abortion which is murder and not a reproductive right. Using the word of God as a standard morral foundation of the authoritated governing law. And that's bout the best I can do at 2:00am at work lol

Love your ministry and love this breakdown y’all did. I do want to push back on the capital punishment from a Biblical perspective. Ultimately, it’s certainly something we as believers can disagree on. Jesus said in Matthew 5:38-48: “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’ But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also.” In John 8, Jesus saved the woman from stoning that she deserved under Mosaic Law. It seems the New Covenant does not encourage capital punishment and that it was used in the Old Covenant to show us how serious our sins are and to be protective/literally rid the community of that sin. I definitely believe in killing as self defense. The Mosaic Law applies the death penalty to more things than you mentioned, Jeff, so I’m curious what your exact breakdown on that is. I am totally with y’all that everyone involved in willfully carrying out an abortion deserves to be charged with murder. But I just cannot get behind capital punishment under the New Covenant. Murderers (such as the Apostle Paul for example) need the Gospel. Anyway, God bless you brothers and your ministry.

Romans 13 Paul says the government is to use the sword on evildoers. Verse 4 says he does not bear the sword in vain. This gets into sphere sovereignty because in Romans 12 Paul is rebuking Christians to not seek personal vengeance for vengeance is from the Lord then he goes into chapter 13 because executes vengeance through his servant which is the word in the passage which is the governing authorities. @@kieffergilbert6146 I appreciate your perspective and understand that you approached that passage faithfully. I’m just going to disagree that Paul was advocating for the death penalty by simply using language that had to do with government authority as he knew it. Execution was quite common in Rome so it makes sense to appeal to that language when simply talking about the government making judgment. Like in the video when they brought up Acts 25. The fact that Paul said he was willing to face the legal consequences of his actions didn’t mean he supported the death penalty. If I had a speeding ticket I felt was unjustified, and I said: “If I really was speeding I will pay the ticket” that does not mean I necessarily support the system of traffic tickets just that I’m submitting to that authority I’m under.

Jesus said I did not come to destroy the law but fulfill it...that Law God gave to Israel was fulfilled on the cross... The word there is completed. That's why Paul goes on to say I am not under the law..... But in-law to Christ. Covenant theology Holds to a Thomas Aquinas scheme of the law. 3 parts.... But that's not what we read in the scripture.. The law was given as one unit to Israel. In fact duet 4:13 says the 10 commandments are the covenant.... Then those 10 commandments are housed in the art of the covenant.... The sabbath is the sign of the covenant... We are now under the law of Christ which is not like the law of Moses... It's much higher.

Now I'm sure we can both agree that there is no flesh that is justified by the law. The the issue at hand is are we under the Law of Moses at all. The answer is no. We are under the law of Christ. The deceived and the deceiver are His. 17 He leads counselors away barefoot and makes judges go mad. 18 He releases the bonds[e] put on by kings and fastens a belt around their waists. 19 He leads priests away barefoot and overthrows established leaders. 20 He deprives trusted advisers of speech and takes away the elders’ good judgment. 21 He pours out contempt on nobles and disarms[f] the strong. 22 He reveals mysteries from the darkness and brings the deepest darkness into the light. 23 He makes nations great, then destroys them; He enlarges nations, then leads them away. 24 He deprives the world’s leaders of reason, and makes them wander in a trackless wasteland. 25 They grope around in darkness without light; He makes them stagger like drunken men.

All things that consist of God [which is everything] will live on forever--either in eternal bliss or in eternal damnation. I cannot answer "when" or "how" it happened...but GOD the Father ALONE is the beginning of all things, including Jesus. And it was by Jesus that the heavens and the earth were created using the power given to him by his Father--God. God will send those who deny his word a strong delusion that goes with them to Hell if they do not repent. To the ones who trust in Christ’s Work, their reward; and to the ones who trust in their own works, their rewards. Again, I was correcting your use of the word “eternal”, which only GOD is. Also, Jesus IS the Beginning of everything, just as the Father is. Jesus Himself said that, so stop denying His Words. Revelation 22:13 You also keep saying God created Jesus, and then Jesus created everything else, but have you even thought about how this can be reconciled with God saying *HE ALONE* created *EVERY SINGLE THING* ?? @@abbyboat5730 Okay, absolutely! You make fair points. Just for some clarity: Yes, I do agree that *God the Father alone* created *EVERY SINGLE THING.* This includes Jesus; every single thing means every single thing. The Father made all things, but how exactly? Who is God speaking to in Genesis 1:26? In Genesis 1:1-25, God created all things by commanding it into existence. It is *God the Father* who created the heavens and the earth by himself; by *HIS WORD ALONE.* It was by His Commandment that all things were created. Jesus, who was created before the foundations of the world and was given all power and authority in heaven and earth, did all of the commandments that the Father said. And the Father found that "it was good." So, to your point, God the Father is the only true "eternal." Even in Rev 22:9 and 22:14, Jesus tells us to worship God and his commandments--the same as he does. This is what it means to be "one" with them both (John 17:22). Jesus is one in agreement with the Father, and does everything his Father commands him (John 12:49-50).
@abbyboat5730
@abbyboat5730 5 месяцев назад
@@user-rj8py9ld3j But I never said God the Father alone created everything? I don't agree with that because Scripture CLEARLY shows that Jesus and the Spirit ALSO created everything. Scripture says YHWH ALONE created everything; and then says The Father, Son and Spirit created everything. What follows is to conclude that The Father, Son and Spirit CANNOT be anything OTHER THAN YHWH God. That's the position the Bible has! It literally forces this view unto its readers. You are again twisting Scripture! If you claim that God is the Father alone, and that the Father ALONE created everything, why add His Word which you claim is separate and different Being from Him, into the mix?? That literally makes Him NOT ALONE, if God is only the Person of the Father. Scripture is making it clear that the God who created the universe ALONE, is the Triune God. Also, it is quite obvious that Jesus was not speaking in Revelation 22:9. Jesus never puts Himself on the same level as "God's servants the prophets". He clearly distinguishes between God's servants and God's Son. Read through the parables, and even His conversations. He usually puts the Son much higher than man, and even the angels, so it makes NO SENSE to think that it is the Lord speaking in that verse. Also, He WAS worshipped! Throughout Scripture, Jesus is worshipped, MANY TIMES, even in Revelation! So, why on earth, would He say not to worship Him, after receiving worship? That was an angel in Revelation 22:9, not the Lord Jesus.

NEVER SPEAK ABOUT JESUS WITHOUT THE FATHER, FOR THEY ARE ONE IN AGREEMENT (JOHN 17:22): Why does the world speak of Jesus without the Father? Because they are lost; every word Jesus speaks is commanded by God. Always. Jesus said, “For *I have not spoken of myself;* but the Father which sent me, he gave me a COMMANDMENT, what I should say, and what I should speak. [50] And I know that HIS commandment is life everlasting: WHATSOEVER I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak” (John 12:49-50). No one can speak of one without the other because it then becomes a lie. Jesus and the Father are one, you talk about one, you mention the other. You Deny/Accept one, you deny/accept the other. Read John 10:30

@@AveChristusRexZoomer If Jesus is God because he’s one spirit with God, then I am God as well. Jesus said we are to become one even as they are one John 17:22. God himself is not in Jesus, it’s his power/spirit that’s living in all who belongs to him. Proof we have the spirit of (THEM) living in us is, we can heal the sick, raise the dead, cast out devils etc, I do these things. I know without any doubt whatsoever I belong to God. When I pray God hears me. No poison, witchcraft etc, can hurt those who truly belongs to God. You need to break away from what you’ve been hearing. Turn to God through Jesus, because they really love us. John 14:23, Luke 10:19, Matthew 10:8.
