Umm the Bible does command us to evangelize, “And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.” ‭‭Mark‬ ‭16‬:‭15‬-‭16‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Making disciples is when you have evangelized, and there is followers that has followed the teachings of the Word. Disciples mean follower of Christ. evangelizing means to proclaim the good news. In Mark 16:15-16 tells us that we are to proclaim the gospel to all creation. That is Jesus calling us to be evangelists.

I understand why you think this... but Jesus wasn't crucified yet, and the Gospel that was preached was the Gospel of the Kingdom (not salvation). So yes, they did preach the Gospel, but no one knew God's plan for the salvation of humanity through Jesus' death and resurrection until AFTER He rose from the dead. Also, the word disciple doesn't mean "follower of Christ" because many rabbis had disciples in Jesus' day. John the Baptist too had started discipling people before Jesus ever came into ministry.

“As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.” ‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭4‬:‭5‬ ‭ What is the definition of evangelist? The web says : a person who seeks to convert others to the Christian faith, especially by public preaching.

This man is not teaching the gospel correctly, it does command us to evangelize! Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you Matthew 28:19-20
