Jetta Fuel gauge problem

On my 2008 Volkswagen Jetta, Certified PreLoved with 57k miles... I only see this on cold mornings when I start. On a full tank, or any amount of fuel in a tank over 1/4, the gauge will read at 1/4. Turn it off, and cycle it though again and it rises to over half.. try it again then it rises to ove 3/4. Once more then it comes up to the correct fuel level (I think).
What do you guys think?

Just an update, all. I don't have this MkV Jetta anymore. @Bossman, if it stops working above 20mph, you my friend have the infamous German Electrical Gremlin. May just be as simple as a cluster. Your check engine light should be on, get it diagnosed properly at your local VW dealer. My instrument cluster in this video only acted up in the cold, then again this was my only cold season with the Jetta, since it got totaled September 2011 after getting rear-ended from a dead stop at 50mph.

Mine was stuck on full. I just had to fix the fuel sender that told the gauge how much fuel was in the tank. The sensor was caught in a wire just had to pull it loose. Only took 10 minutes.

Need to try this mine reads full...way past full dont know if this could be the problem but will give it a shot.

Yeah, it ended up being the instrument cluster that needed to be replaced. Under warranty. Thankfully it isn't as critical as BMW's high-pressure fuel pump recall.

Ok two days ago my fuel faucet stopped working. The fuel lights not on but reads empty. Before it happened had half tank.. . Car still runs great just that one gauge doesn't work now.

Joseph Leeks can you still drive it even when the gauge reads empty? I have gas in it but it reads empty

Kevin Durant’s Biggest fan i have such problem mine shows thats tank is empty the arrow is on 0 but the yellow light on dash isnot lighting any ideas also the outside temp sensor shows thats outside is -24

I am having another issue with my MK6 I have replaced the alternator the battery and I'm still in not getting the charge does anybody have any suggestions
