Nah. These items weren’t seized off Jewish people as they were put on trains to camps. People were fleeing the country and wanted money to survive - so they sold this dude their jewelry. It’s a sensitive subject, but I’d say calling it repulsive and REALLY gross is a bit over the top.

@@mitzloo1933 - Read your comment again. They may not have been on trains yet, but they couldn't stay. So either way, they were forced to do something horrible they didn't want to do. She acquired her fortune when her husband died. He bought the business from fleeing Jews. I don't think you clearly understand the entirety of the Shoah...

@@christopherstinch I don’t need to read my comment again. I understood what I wrote when I wrote it. I am not a child who can be ordered to look at my actions so that i, in your opinion, can see the error of my ways. The Jewish business owners sold their businesses because they were unviable in that current situation and then used the money to move and set themselves up in a safer location. Yes, that is all sad and unfortunate, but these jewels weren’t ripped off people as they were marched into ghettos. They were bought as part of the sales of businesses - they were not stolen. The estate can do what they like with these pieces because they are their property. If you are so repulsed, then don’t buy any of the items up for auction.

After Kristallnacht, Jews were FORCED to sell most of their assets because Göring imposed a one billion Reichmark (RM) fine on the Jewish population in Germany. The fine was a direct personal tax on every Jewish taxpayer who had assets over 5,000 RM. After payment of these fines and extra taxes, any remaining funds were paid into BLOCKED accounts at German banks. This meant that the owners of the accounts could not access their money. You make a strange and invalid distinction between jewelry that was stolen during the worst years of persecution in Germany itself and jewelry confiscated at the train platforms leading to the ovens in Poland.

@@davemathews7890 And there we have it - a fine explanation of the situation. The jewelry in question was sold (under bad circumstances and under duress) to Helmut Horten, inherited by his wife, and are now going up for auction with the proceeds going to charity. Two thumbs up.

They were forced out of their home, all their stuff was taken from them, and they had to get the f out or they'd have all died. My great uncle stayed... and he's likely a lampshade or a bar of soap in some old gentile's hidden attic collection now. My relatives lost everything, and someone made blutgelt off that. Shame on you.

at least they spent it on the correct things, must they have, those are very beautiful, but more important unique. first to do so also. mary took him in night after night, and made sure he was clean. a sure pal.
