An excellent ABC News produced documentary to commemorate the 20th anniversary of President Kennedy's death. Hosted and narrated by the great Peter Jennings, this program is presented in its entirety - including all of the original Friday night prime-time commercials! Presented here on the eve of his 106th birthday (May 29, 1917 - November 22, 1963).
The program first aired on November 11, 1983.
We hope you enjoy this trip back to a simpler time, and when the assassination of JFK was a relatively recent event. For education, entertainment and enlightenment. We hope you enjoy and even learn something.

I was in elementary school when someone motioned our teacher to leave the room. When she came back she was crying. Only time I ever saw a teacher cry. She told us we were leaving school early and had no homework. Barry asked why? I was confident he would ask as that was his way, questioned everything; this time I was happy to have a Barry in class. Mrs Steppenwolf told us the President had been assassinated. He was dead. A lot of us were military brats and on the bus the older ones openly discussed how this could affect our dads. War was even mentioned. My dad had been on a remote duty for months. I was looking forward to him coming home and didn’t want him to have to stay away even longer especially at war. Funny how our lives as kids gave us different perspectives of this horrendous event in history.

TRUE. I AM FROM THAILAND. I LOVE PRESIDENT JOHN F. KENNEDY So much. DURING HIS PRESIDENCY SO MANY COUNTRIES ON THIS PLANET EARTH WERE RAPIDLY,DEEPLY AND LARGELY DEVELOPED IN WHICH NOBODY COULD DO. JFK HELPED UNDERDEVELOPMENT COUNTRIES,ESP. THAILAND,MY COUNTRY. THE FIRSTEVER LARGE UPCOUNTRIES DEVELOPMENT AND Rural Universities established ,namely, Khonkaen University(KKU) founded in 1962 by Field Marshal Sarit Thanarat upon Support of President John F. Kennedy,USA., Peace Corps in a large scale set up, Rural accelerated organization initiated, all laterite roads that had caused a high rate of fatality resulting from road dust blown up, poor visibility occurred inevitably. Thailand has been in debt to John F. Kennedy. Thai people will never forget you and your family. Farewell and R.I.P. Mr. President. We know now who killed the US young, handsome, charismatic President of the USA. The ghost faced lbj, the poppy bush, mr.watergatescandal nixon, all killers of our beloved President,JFK. R.I.P. JFK.

In Memory of JFK : O Captain! My Captain! BY WALT WHITMAN O Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done, The ship has weather’d every rack, the prize we sought is won, The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting, While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring; But O heart! heart! heart! O the bleeding drops of red, Where on the deck my Captain lies, Fallen cold and dead. O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells; Rise up-for you the flag is flung-for you the bugle trills, For you bouquets and ribbon’d wreaths-for you the shores a-crowding, For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning; Here Captain! dear father! This arm beneath your head! It is some dream that on the deck, You’ve fallen cold and dead. My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still, My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will, The ship is anchor’d safe and sound, its voyage closed and done, From fearful trip the victor ship comes in with object won; Exult O shores, and ring O bells! But I with mournful tread, Walk the deck my Captain lies, Fallen cold and dead.

JFK and Jacqueline and the kids visited the battlefield at Antietam(Sharpsburg) and at Gettysburg. When they visited Gettysburg their were pictures of JFK driving a mercury convertible with Jackie and the kids in car looking at the monuments and having a battlefield guide describing the battle, one place they stopped was the eternal light peace memorial dedicated by FDR, uniting the north and the south they say jakie got the idea for JFK's eternal flame from it
