For the first time in North America, multiple-Oscar winning Writer/Director OLIVER STONE'S 4-part, 4-hour series JFK: DESTINY BETRAYED comes to Digital MARCH 8th! Narrated by Oscar-winner WHOOPI GODBERG and DONALD SUTHERLAND. Cinematography by multiple Oscar-winning ROBERT RICHARDSON.
Subjects covered in the series include the early formation of President Kennedy’s foreign policy overview and his anti-colonial convictions, which put him in opposition to the Eisenhower administration, the CIA, and the Pentagon.
EPISODES:
Chapter 1
Oliver Stone introduces this first chapter, giving background on the Assassination Records Review Board, created by an act of Congress following the controversy of his 1991 film, JFK. Going back to November 22, 1963, this episode explores the aftermath of President Kennedy’s assassination, and the early suspicions of his brother Robert Kennedy that more than one assassin was involved. Contrary to popular belief, the Warren Commission, the official government investigation into Kennedy’s murder, was not unanimous in their beliefs that Lee Harvey Oswald was the lone assassin.
Chapter 2
This chapter highlights bizarre anomalies in the medical evidence and key differences between the Warren Commission conclusions and the eyewitness testimonies of the doctors who tried to save Kennedy. The chain of custody for the supposed rifle and “magic bullet”-- vital to any proper murder investigation-- fall apart under closer examination. Flashback to 1953, Kennedy, as a senator, travels to Vietnam, seeing firsthand the French losing their colonial war. When he becomes president, these anti-colonial convictions put him on a collision course with the Pentagon and CIA.
Chapter 3:
This chapter examines Kennedy’s autopsy, from the inexperienced doctor who burns his notes, to the autopsy photographer who claims that he did not take all of the photos-indicating that alterations had been made on key details. Flashback to the Cuban Missile Crisis and Kennedy’s intense battles with his military leaders. In the months leading to his assassination, Kennedy boldly defies them in refusing to send ground troops to Vietnam.
Chapter 4:
Who was Lee Harvey Oswald? This final chapter examines new evidence surrounding the accused “lone nut,” and his associations with groups tied to the CIA. After Kennedy is killed, the world mourns, and consequences are felt around the globe as Johnson reverses course to disastrous effect, especially in Vietnam, Indonesia, and South America.

I was 6 during the Cuban Missile Crisis and am so thankful for JFK's steady, thoughtful , empathetic leadership that avoided the global nuclear holocaust that the Joint Chiefs psychopaths, especially Curtis LeMay, lusted for! I've literally had the last 60 years of a fulfilling life thanks to JFK ....and to JFK *ALONE* as have we all everywhere on earth. He was our greatest President of all time in my opinion and doesn't get the credit he deserves for making all our lives on earth possible today!

We were all very much afraid that we wouldn't see the next day. I still say that president Kennedy was the greatest of all time and it very much led to his demise.

Throughout History, it is DANGEROUS trying to be a peaceful politician. ask the great Mystic Akhenaton. like JFK, he to was assassinated by powerful forces within his own Government.

What do you mean by we were all very much afraid that we wouldn't see the next day" ? I'm curious that's why I am asking. Was you alive back then? I have been watching this on SKY Documentaries and I think it is plain to see that there were forces at play that made the JFK assassination happen and I believe that Oswald was set up, and it is without doubt that the same forces that snuffed out Kennedy snuffed out more than him too. I just cannot understand how the US government has never done more to put the case to rest and bring those to justice, or at least try. The US government spoon fed the public that LHO was the perpetrator and lone gunman but the world knows that it was bullshit....or at least most do. How could the US government do that? And also get away with it. There's more than just one person that was involved that's for sure, on the contrary there has got to be quite a handful of people who knew or once did know. I suppose we'll never know 100%

Me too. He was a good man. Had his little vices, but he wanted what was good for the people. The wicked can't stand good men in power.

It is tantalising to wonder what would have happened if Nixon had been President during The Cuban missile crisis.
@garysouza772

Since Nixon pressed during the Eisenhower Administration for the use of nuclear weapons to save French rule in Indochina through Operation Vulture, the outlook would have been much more bleak.

I'm not sure i would use the word "tantilizing" because if war hawk, psychopath Nixon had been our President, we wouldn't be here to wonder. "Terrifying" would be more like it. I've often thought of this and said this myself. It is absolutely terrifying to contemplate how close we came to having Nixon as Pres. in 1960.

@@garysouza772 many Americans still are unaware about how fortunate the US, and the world, was to have Eisenhower in the White House. He saw, first hand, the devastation from WW 2 and knew that the aftermath of a nuclear war would be 100x worse.

The missiles in Turkey were becoming obsolete, and were due to be withdrawn anyway, which the Soviets were unaware of. It was an easy "concession" for Kennedy to offer in exchange for the removal of the missiles from Cuba.
