The Mississippi Queen sequence has continued to stick with me to this day, loved regular show, me and my friend first started our bond through regular show inside jokes
Amazing video you made. As a kid, I thoroughly enjoyed the show, and in 2019 near the end of the year, I decided to binge watch the show with some good free time I had while in my junior year of high school. After finishing the show, it made me think about what there is for my future and how much I relate to these characters, especially Mordecai in my current years in dating and how it can cause problems. It clearly shows the life style and average life we live in while in our early 20s. I think this show was such a thrill and enjoyment to watch as a kid that shaped me into the person I am. Keep up the great work and hope to see great content in the future!
I remember telling my mother about Regular Show and she seemed uninterested. It wasn't until I got the DVD of Seasons 1&2 as a gift when that changed. During the episode "High Score" the song Hangin' Tough by New Kids On The Block played. My mother, a huge fan of their music even naming me after one of their members started paying attention and now she loves it as well.
Something similar happened when my dad heard Mississippi Queen play. Then he watched the episode and realized it was a parody of one of his favorite movies lol.
I think there will be more shows like this, there are definitely people out there creating things that are up to par, just gonna have to wait a few years.
there won't be at this rate. animation is dying, and corporations think it's for children now. not to mention the death of cable television and the move to streaming services has hurt animation. something has to be done eventually
2 In the AMPM felt so much like a real finished episode. I don’t know how to explain it but it just sucks you in for how short of a short it is. I am so happy he followed his dream and made regular show. Best show ever, that man has a gift from God.
its five in the morning for me right now but i think you may be my favorite youtuber ever. this specific series you're doing on cartoons in the 2010's speaks so truely and deeply to my interests and i find myself learning new information on shows i thought i already knew everything about. truely a fantastic channel for anyone with an interest in cartoons both casually and carreer wise. i've always found myself drawn to the narrative and stylistic connections between all the different cartoon renaisance shows and to hear someone speak with that same passion on that topic yet bringing a new side to the subject i've never heard before is eye opening to say the least. i find most conversations i have with others in relation to cartoons fall short in some way, people simply (understandably) lacking in information and interest in the topic, and failing to keep up with my profound interests. this channel has shown me that i am not alone in my intreuge and i look foward to seeing what you create in the future
I remember hearing about this new show about to premier on cartoon network. I initially made fun of it with my friends. We pointed and laughed, "regular show" what a dumb name. But the show premiered, and damned if we all didnt cry when it ended.
@@raseli4066 I'd expect most people probably draw themselves more attractive than they are in real life rather than the other way around? Idk I just had a moment of gay surprise when I saw how he looks irl.
I remember watching regular show way back in 2011 when it aired. I was like 8 back then so I just found this show about various characters doing random shit funny. I stopped watching around Season 6 because I was moving out of New York and into New Jersey and we didn't have cable. Rewatching it years later I found how clever, witty, relatable, hilarious and emotinal it can be. Sure from a distance its two slackers working at a park and getting into crazy shit and getting nagged around their boss but every character goes through stuff, they change they have motivations and eventually grow up. All of this while keeping original jokes sayings and humor in tact. This show will always have a special place in my heart and I'm glad I decided to watch all 8 seasons. Theres really nothing like it. JG is a genius
man… this show… i was only 7 or 8 back when it first aired and i remember seeing the promos for it to this day … it would always say “regular show… it’s anything but” and ever since then i’ve just loved it. this show definitely played a role in shaping my personality and sense of humor… i’ll quote shit from this show all the time and the fuckin sheep around me have no idea what i’m taking about… this is literally one of if not the funniest cartoon ever. the humor was more mature than most other shows on the network and actually relies on thoght for the humor rather than just a visual gag that we see now a days …. like it’s just so funny … the fact that random ass people always get blown up and die, the most absurd thing that the writers could think of happening after someone cuts the grass, like it’s just so great… this and adventure time we’re both airing that same time and premiered at the same time… i never didn’t like adventure time it’s also amazing in its own right… but regular show was by far way funnier and cooler
oh yea im 32 and i watched it for the first time like 2 moths ago beginning to end cus it was surprisingly pretty relatable yet stupidly funny. Felt like watching some light hearted cartoons but was surprised by how grounded it was despite the ridiculous situations that it had. And all the characters where so lovable too, they where all cool in their own way.
Really great vid. Just subscribed and I'm honestly very excited to see where you decide to take this channel in the future. Would love to see you do a video essay or two on Studio Ghibli's work. Best of luck bro.
Honestly great work as a content creator myself who has to do some insane editing to keep viewers engaged its good to just relax keep it simple while being informative Nice!.
when i was a teenager my coworkers would sneak me into the bar next door to where we worked on 5 cent wing night and wed all have wings together like that
Adventure time is somewhat the same but is a little more story focused from the beginning it's an adventure. After all, it's random, but there's structure
I would very much love to get more seasons beyond season 3 on DVD, but for some reason the other ones are not USA watchable. but in some cases I'm kind of glad I only have 3 seasons because those were the ones I enjoyed the most, I'm disappointed in the new characters they introduced in other seasons like Thomas the goat or whatever he is, and cj. Those characters were unnecessary and unneeded in my opinion.
Yea the early, more simple episodes are where it’s at for me. Also physical media for cartoons is so inconsistent, but I really don’t want to drop the money on a region free dvd player…
I feel Regular Show would be 50% better if Dee Bradley Baker voiced Rigby instead of William Salyers. Let's be real; where Dee succeeded with his roles in the past, William (especially as Rigby) fails.
Love the video but I want to debunk your claim of regular show being a “kids show”. You can clearly tell right from the very beginning that the show is meant for adults in their 20s with the added bonus of being enjoyable for kids. That’s why most of the jokes in regular show did not make sense until we started getting older and started to get into adulthood. I mean, just look at Mississippi queen for example. Benson, Mordecai, and Rigby were on an acid trip and were hungover. Not to mention the soda in the show being a replacement for beer, benson’s wing addiction is just him being an alcoholic, as well as the main protagonist (and benson) going “commando” and so on and so forth. I can go on and on, but I rest my case. Overall, saying regular show is a “kids show” just because it aired on a network that’s demographic is aimed towards ages 8-16 is an insult! That’s like saying bleach and chainsaw man are kid series just because it was published and broadcasted for kids ages 8-16.
I get where you’re coming from, but at the end of the day, the target demographic is kids and teenagers. Yes there were many adult jokes, but you can find those in many “kids” shows. I agree that the Mississippi Queen episode was definitely the team getting more of their adult humor out, but most of the episodes are clearly for younger audiences. It would have made little sense for them to air it on CN and not Adult Swim if their target audience was adults. It’s clear you have for respect for the show though, so I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
@@thecartooncorner respectfully, i disagree simply for the fact the aside from the adult jokes (which were restriction breaking) there were also nudity (to some extent) death, gore, and important life lessons and message that only late teens to adults will understand. I mean they even showed cannibalism with the hotdogs. If you’re saying regular show’s demographic is for mainly kids (ages 6-12) then that’s totally wrong. Just because it aired on a network where the other shows on it were for kids, doesn’t mean it was meant for kids (if that makes sense). If that was the case, then we would have more shows like Craig of the creek, Clarence, and teen titans go! and show’s like this and Johnny bravo wouldn’t have gone on for as long as it did or even greenlit. Even the TV ratings says it’s not suitable for kids and it’s more suitable for teens and adults. When it comes to marketing that’s a different story but overall, respectfully my point still stands.
bro shut up … it was made for everyone … the kids got the cool animals, colors and fart jokes and the adults got the adult humor. if it was made for adults you’d see it on adult swim. I can think of countless kids shows that have adult references in them… spongebob, icarly, adventure time, good luck charlie, johnny bravo, the rugrats, gravity falls, fairly odd parents… i also can go on and on… idk why you’re so offended by hearing that a show that aired on a children’s network was made for kids… like it’s not that deep xD like yeah, as a 20 year old kid currently, the show is so much more relatable than it was when it came out but like stfu 😂😂 bc i watched it as a kid and so did 90% of the people who watched this video… something can still be a kids show that has plenty of adult humor in it
wtf? written in a unique way??!?! THAT JUST A NORMAL STORY BOARD. that how all mainstream animation is made. Not at all unique the regular show ........
