Back before many of us knew Vince was their boss. I remember thinking "Man, these wrestlers seem to really respect this announcer, Vince. He must be good at his job" LOL
Body: come on monsooooon why is it that Hooogan can use a chair but if DiBiase used a chair he would be disqualified? I don’t understand thattt! Gorilla: stop it Jess.
@@bradkaitting4638Will sasso does the best wrestler impressions. His Macho Man,Jake Roberts and Ventura are bang on, and he does Scott hall great aswell 'Hey sasso you look like the kinda guy who can take coke and eat' 😂😂😂
Vince knew Gorilla and Jesse were the best duo due to the fact that he always had them do the PPVs and Saturday Night's Main Event shows back in the mid 80s to early 90s.
And the follow-up: Gorilla: Oh, he always spoke well of _you,_ Jess. Ventura: He can't even talk, Gorilla. How can he speak well of me when he can't even say a word? Gorilla: Well...I...I got that impression. Ventura: Hah.
@@ibanezprestigeboy I think Gorilla and Bobby were better when they were commentating after a match than during it. They were gold on Prime Time Wrestling. I've been watching old episodes of that for months, and darn they make me laugh.
If you go to his podcast list he has made omnibusses of only his commercials. My favorite is always when he says something outrageous about the product and drives Brian crazy ... " No.... no! .... NO !!!!! " cracks me up every time
Goddamn man Travis really outdid himself here ahahahaha now I've seen Jimmy on everything. From Superman to Reed Richards to Thanos to SPidey to Starlord to HUlk to Genie to Batman to Thriller Michael Jackson to DOc Samson to Genie to Yoda ! Love it mate!
Can't blame Jesse for being a little "out of touch" with today's wrestling scene, to me it just shows that he's got enough on his mind to not cling to the "glory days" as much. But it was so nice seeing him back, even if just as a visitor, because you alway knew he loved the business. The biggest thing that could come from this would be my dream come true, Jesse's voice as commentary on the video games. That would be insane.
@@Christian.J_hXcfor comedy purposes yeah but Ventura made wrestling seem real with his heated arguments. My fav Rumble had Brain and Gorilla Monsoon so it's hard to truly argue what you said.
Jesse was my all-time favorite commentator. He was supposedly a heel, but only because he was honest and would call out how faces, especially Hogan, would get special treatment for heel behavior.
And it's proof that the only thing "special" about Vince is that he was a workaholic with no morals who inherited his daddy's company. Eventually wrestling will be a healthier place without him.
“Why? We won, didn’t we?” - Governor Jesse Ventura when asked if the State of Minnesota would return a Virginia battle flag that the 1st Minnesota captured at Gettysburg.
@@jabrockobiden9434you’re probably right. The country would be better off without the welfare sucking southern red states attached to it. Except for the fact that they thought it was ok to own other human beings we probably should have let the losers go.
I don’t think he has it anymore. I ain’t against him trying but I would hate to see him “eat shit” in a national stage. The last time I saw him speaking in public was a heated discussion in some form of the Minnesota government when they were passing the laws for legal pot. He told a great personal perspective and was very much much engaged but the transitions while he was talking was kind of whimsical.
this is great news i guess vince Mcmahon being forced out of WWE is the reason why jesse ventura is back anyone remember that one episode of raw where he and vince McMahon did commentary together in 2009 that was awesome.
Love Jesse, he was one of the best, in the ring and on the mic. I just wish he would have done some commentary, he was one of the best at it. I loved it when he would tell Vince to shup up. Brian does a great impression of Jesse.
When Warrior ran to the ring during his entrance at WM 6, Ventura said the following. 'That's terrible strategy from the Warrior to tire himself out before the match!' The guy was brilliant.
Schiavone and Jesse were also an underrated team. Working with Jesse was where Tony really was able to be more himself instead of acting the way an announcer was expected to act which was becoming passe.
One of Venturas best lines for me was at W6 for Warrior/Hogan... Warrior's entrance gets a huge pop as usual and Ventura responds with "I think that's a big mistake Ultimate Warrior is gonna be out of gas before the match even starts!" ... not word for word but that cracks me up to this day.
Jesse Ventura was an absolutely great commentator, exactly for all the reasonsJim and Brian detail here. He was great as a heel favouring voice, but also put over the genuine excitement of the awesome occasions of events like WrestleManias 3 and 6, and openly marvelled at the sheer talent of babyfaces like Bret Hart and the Bulldogs: l still remember him remarking about Dynamite kid “when l was wrestling, l’d have to have a stuntman doing that for me!”
The worst thing about JR - to me - was Jerry Lawler sitting next to him. Talk about a guy who was as funny as bleeding inflamed haemorrhoids. Plus, even in the different pop-cultural climate back then, his dirty old man schtick was just embarrassing and off-putting after a while - not to mention unbelievably annoying and tedious, because it was just the same drooling lecherous horny grandpa garbage over and over and over, for YEARS. I don't mind occasional innuendos, suggestiveness, or racy jokes at all if they're clever, genuinely funny and delivered well. Quite the opposite, really. But absolutely NOTHING about Lawler's schtick was clever or even remotely funny. Not even in the cultural context of that era. He just came across like that filthy sweaty uncle who tries to molest his nieces at family functions.
What soundbites of his enemies would Corny's Predator play during combat? "I find you to be tiresome" "Bro, trust me bro" "But my employer gave me a role to play"
Rodney Dangerfield was so awesome. I just watched him on Carson & then how Carson ended up black listing him from The Tonight Show. Speaking of "Back to School" and people I miss greatly, Sam F'n Kinison!!!!
I'd LOVE to have Punk, Ventura & Cornette doing a watch along show to classic territory matches. Or have them call a match on PPV featuring Gunther vs Jacob Fatu. Something involving the three of them in a room talking
If Graham hadn't already been over forty, broken down, disillusioned, and tired of his old gimmmick, there likely would have never been a "Hulkamania". Hogan was almost exactly ten years younger than Graham and willing/able to do whatever it took, so he got the assignment. Otherwise it could have been "Superstarmania". Graham looked as if he had aged 20 years between 1978 and 1983. Graham became that weird smaller "Karate G. Gordon Liddy" guy instead for a while and had his hip replacement surgery featured on WWF's TV. Did I say "weird"? Because that was WEIRD. By late 1987, he was a complete wreck at barely 44 years old and had to retire. Imagine Hulk Hogan having to hang it up between Wrestlemania III and IV...
Gorilla and Jesse was always saved for the big major events. When they were together everything felt official and special. I loved Bobby and Gorilla but Bobby had to be a clown Jesse was the counter culture of the WWF at that time...
Brian is correct, we could get so many action figures of Jesse. Awa, east west connection perhaps with Adrian Adonis. The hats, the boa, the kooky sunglasses !!! The goatee. Get some good announcer Jesse the body. How about a body shop playset. I like how they joked about bringing back Dr D and the figure ideas. I’d jump at getting a Dr D Schultz elite figure. Foreal
Remember during PPVs, he'd always go, "I'd like to say hello to Terry, Tyrell, and Jade - back in Minnesota!" Gorilla would respond with, "I hear they're good friends of yours". Only years later would I find out, that was his family he was giving a shout out to lol
Just noticed WWE referenced Jesse as former "UDT expert" and not a frogman not a SEAL. While Jesse was a UDT frog man from a time before they switched the name to SEAL I am guessing he told them not to call him a SEAL after his brethren broke his heart in favor of a lieing sniper.
I LIVE IN THE BAHA - Will Sasso impersonating Jesse Ventura The longest interview I've ever done. Felt like FOREVER. Barely got a word in; Jesse pretty much interviews himself I INTRODUCED THE ROLLING STONES - Jesse Ventura *Nothing is better than Ventura putting McMahon in place
I look at Ventura's time as commentator in the 80's a little differently. He started off as a heel, especially when he was doing his Body Shop segments. But, as he started to do more movies, while he didn't turn babyface, he became more of a neutral commentator, where he was simply calling things down the middle, regardless of who it favored.
Finally, someone else who loves the film Back To School with Rodney Dangerfield. Not an amazing film or anything, but it is nostalgic and entertaining.
Well he’s an older gentleman so I imagine his memory isn’t as great as it used to be, especially when he’s only met some people a handful of times and doesn’t really keep up with the product
Cool, I loved Jesse's commentaries back in the day - I always remember when Warrior and Hogan met at the Royal Rumble and ran into each other: "NOBODY MOVES!" And him and Gorilla were amazing together, Wrestlemania 6 for example.
