I hear ya bud but she was always Duce and her time as Alundra Blayze got her a HOF ring and worldwide recognition for all that cool shit she did as Madusa it all comes together man
@@bradpaton3927 including Rhonda Singh, Bull Nakano, she wrestled a handful of women in her early 90s and later run in WCW. But Vince Russo also had her mess around with Nitro girls, valets, and Oklahoma. Her 99-2000 run was a joke.
Tanahashi is one of my favorite pure baby faces still wrestling. Dude knows his audience and gets em without a bunch of hokey bullshit. Respect where it's due.
Last year, they had a show where they made “ dreams come true”. One lady had a dream of wrestling Tanahashi... they trained her up to wrestle and made the match happen. Tanahashi knew exactly how to play her; it was hilarious and could’ve made anyone a Tanahashi fan. True savior of Shin Nihon.
Only award that I'll 100% cosign on is Shad getting Most Inspirational. Any man that makes the ultimate sacrifice to save the lives of their kids, that man will forever have my ultimate respect. Can't believe it's almost been a year now. RIP Shad
@@jenisia3600 Well in all honesty wtf does he really do other than barely touch the guy and the crowd goes nuts for him . Don't see his appeal whatsoever.
He can’t be most popular. Most WWE fans have no idea who the fuck he is. Considering they’re still the biggest wrestling based company in the world, that’s ridiculous.
Yup. But all these publications are too far up AEWs ass because they're bitter Vince never took them seriously. So they are mostly against anything WWE. Im actually surprised AEW didn't run the table in these awards
Yes. Worked a show with him a couple of years ago. He could still go. I think this was a pretty good award because The Hurt Business is really over and MVP is making that effective.
I think MVP is the comeback of the year. WWE never intended for him to be a presence on tv, and he ended up earning a long term deal and has been a major part of Raw for most of the year.
MVP is the comeback of the year because he went from near complete irrelevancy to being the mouthpiece/figurehead of arguably the best faction in WWE right now
...And the nominees for best Cornette name for a wrestler in 2020 are: JeriCovid - Chris Jericho The Learning Disabled Frog - The Miz The Grand Marshall of the Possum Day Parade - Baron Corbin Mr. and Ms. Same Face - The Garganos The Crispy Critter from Canyon Creek - The Fiend Twinkle Toes McFingerbang - Kenny Omega ....and the winner is...
Sasha got boosted for being in “The Mandolorian” and was “Champion Hunting” at the same time. I liked her 2020 and how she recovered from the mess the previous year.
I like AEW. I like Cassidy just fine (when they don't try to make him more than he should be.) But him on the cover only shows how far the magazine has fallen.
Orange Cassidy as the most popular wrestler of the year is possibly the funniest and saddest thing I’ve ever heard. Just tells you everything you need to know about the type of fans AEW attract.
When I saw the thumbnail artwork I thought. "No way, this has to be a joke by Travis Heckel just to piss off Corny." But then I listened to the video...
Rookie of the year...wouldn't Pat Mcafee be eligible for that? He sure as hell had the best debut match of all time, then out-promo'd the entire roster for a good few months, taking part in NXT's best feud of his stable vs. UE.
Putting Orange Cassidy on cover is horrible for the buisuness normal people will see that and think its a joke put drew, randy, orton, balor, hell olivia will be ok
I agree, Orange is a joke and hopefully will go away soon. My wife and I have been in those AEW crowds and we still don’t understand why Orange is so popular..
@@marcelmoreau2733 The fact that there's even a choice available for such an award, let alone 2 friggin choices completely validates every negative thing Corny has said about the state of the business.
@@gammasmash1924 If there is a company out there that'll be the True Successor, it would have to consist of a bunch of UNKNOWNS... People not affiliated at all with any current shows.
@@ChristopherJames1993 I don't see it as a comeback when he's been showing up for multiple years at a time. WRESTLING comeback yeah but not all together
PWI has often stretched the Rookie award because even by the late 80s and certainly by the 90s, most rookies were on indies. They just happened to have a true rookie this year that was on tv almost every week.
If you do an award show, there has to be a category for the wrestlers who received the greatest self inflicted injury. Like cricket legs. Or the guys that jumped through the ropes and landed inside a steel chair. Or the guy who jumped from 20 feet and decided to Macho Man the concrete floor instead of his opponent.
Sasha/Bayley feud was awful, simply because Vince couldn't wait to blow his wad and have Sasha be the champion BEFORE The Mandalorian had even really started. He should've built the feud up right alongside the show, taken advantage of the newer viewership, and THEN put the belt on Sasha. Absolute madness, the way he botched yet another easy home run. The old man's simply lost it.
pretty sure Madusa won Rookie of the Year from PWI as well pretty sweet to win a Lifetime Achievement Award from the same mag many trailblayzing years later
I've collected the PWI year end awards & the 500 since the early 80s. I rarely watch new wrestling except ROH. Orange Cassidy on the cover & as most popular? PWI, I bid you adieu.
The Corny Awards could be pro wrestling's version of the Razzies. It would be awesome. You guys should definitely do it. Here are a few suggestions. 1. Worst Wrestler 2. Worst Tag Team 3. Worst Feud 4. Worst Match 5. Biggest Insult to the Business 6.Worst Gimmick 7.Worst Punch 8.Biggest Botch 9.Most Awkward 10. Shitshow of the Year 11. Worst Promo 12. Biggest Disappointment 13. Asshole of the Year 14. Most Out of Shape 15.Worst Worker 16. Most Outlaw
Orange Cassidy is so popular that Dynamite doesn't even get 1 million views. At this point we might as well void the "Most popular wrestler award" because no one seems to be over besides part timers, and like 1 or 2 guys on each wrestling show maximum. EDIT: I don't know where to find t-shirt sales comparing WWE sales to Pro Wrestling Tees, so I don't know who would be the most popular in terms of sales, I guess. I can only guess the Fiend probably wins that because his merch was on top in WWE in 2020.
Didn't MVP come back and win the US title? I definitely think MVP deserved that comeback of the year. He made 3 wrestlers who are void of charisma at least come across as "must see" from time to time.
Best of the worst would probably be colt cabana right? A goofy outlaw guy in a terrible gimmick who is actually presenting himself in a somewhat legitimate way.
I think "Worst" should be ranked by guys who disappoint you being the least qualified to win and the guys who are insulting the moment they walk onto the camera with the work to match as the most qualified to "win" the Prestigious Cornfart award.
I had no idea pwi was still a thing in 2020. Id buy an issue just for nostalgia, but who really buys this? I love mags but internet killed it pretty much and the mags still around are the price of a paperback book. I used to trade my PWI mags for wcw mags at school cause wcw mag was hard to find in Canada this time. I stopped though cause wcw mag sucked.
@kid gravity beyond still a comeback.nobody thought he'd return.but he got injured that's why he's been gone soo long.otherwise he'd be still wrestling
