It’s kind of funny how we don’t know whether Corny acquired his knowledge of handcuffs, from his professional life, or his personal life

This whole segment was hilarious especially when Britt was screaming Adam Coles real name 😂 🤣

The part that gets me the most is the kendo stick has been done to death so its killed for me. Britts been dropped on to thumbtacks and put through tables. Its hard to take a kendo stick seriously anymore.

I just wish Jeff Hardy came out to save Adam and Britt but made sure to stop and dance a little bit for 5 minutes with the theme song playing so the crowd can dance

The fact that it’s a business driven by emotion where practically everyone is too scared to actually do anything that gets real emotion is one of the biggest unsung problems with modern wrestling.

This segment was a joke when he showed us how small his wrist are by handcuffing it and the ropes in the same link 😂

What Jim said at the end of the clip is something that I have noticed myself. Having been a fan since the end of the Territory Era, I have watched wrestling evolve, and the differences are especially noticeable when you are aware of the way things were once done. I recently went back and watched some old WCW tapes, and watched some of the Cruiserweight matches. Even in matches featuring the Luchadors, they paid attention to every detail. Guys did crazy flips, but they built to it and gave the guy taking the move a reason to sell while the guy doing the dive got in position. You never saw someone just standing there with their hands up. If there were multiple people in an angle, they were constantly moving. I watched numerous old tapes, and I could not find one match where anyone was just laying on the ground until they got their cue. Modern wrestlers are so lazy. It gets harder and harder to watch as time goes on.

What made the HHH/Orton one so iconic was the visual of HHH desperately trying to save Stephanie, and he was just out of reach like Cornette is saying. Then he had to sit there and watch Orton kiss his wife.

This was a carbon copy of Hulk Hogan whipping David Flair with his weight belt while Ric Flair was handcuffed to the rope. Jerichogan strikes again!

I remember Jericho once put Stacey kiebler in the walls while test was handcuffed to the ropes being taunted by Christian. About 20 years ago.

I love hearing Jim explain how to do this properly. From the moment I watched this angle go down, I knew this was done poorly and that Jim was gonna be able to explain how it was supposed to go

Adam and Britt will never get over as babyfaces.

This is Jericho's entire AEW run, trying to recreate angels and storylines he's seen done in Japan and comming up short every time.

Britt has had a cage match on TV, She's been hit with chairs on TV, slammed on thumbtacks on TV, she's been busted open on TV... why would a kendo stick be so cruel or devastating?

It's like a Triple X parody of Randy/HHH/Stephanie in 09 or The I Quit Match Between Edge and Balor ...

Jericho screaming TAKE A SWING AT ME for everyone to hear was a nice touch. Really helped sell the segment as a gigantic pile of shit.

They make Adam Cole look like such a beta. When Randy orton beat Stephanie in front Triple h while he was handcuffed, Triple h didn’t cry out for help like she was dying. He had a straight face filled with anger, kicking and fighting trying to get out of the handcuffs. Big difference.

Paint Adam green, give him a Gumby gimmick and call it a day.

This is a critical listen. The expertise & minutia that Cornette gives on a seemingly-simple angle is EXACTLY the kind of attention that AEW is missing, and the kind of touches that atypical anti-Cornette fan would fawn over. 98% of AEW's booking has been done before better, and the veterans have the experience to help get them to where they want to go. Young wrestlers openly declining veteran advice, and then doing a sloppy version of something ALREADY DONE is kinda offensive.

I think Brian brought it up awhile ago but i noticed it prevalently in this promo. Cole stutters his first word every time he starts a sentence after a pause. Once you notice it, you can't un-notice it.

The way the handcuffs were on was definitely wrong. And why would the three women be waiting under the ring? Are they just there all the time, just in case? Weird. The Triple H / Randy Orton thing was good cos RO is so bloody scary, creepy, and sinister. The kiss was also so subtle and delayed, and all the reaction came from Triple H. He could also stretch but couldn’t quite reach Stephanie. The kendo stick was too much.

I really don't understand how Britt Baker ended up with a Black Eye when she got hit on her back with a kendo stick all the time😂

This was a truly terrible segment: firstly Britt Baker is NOT a babyface, you can't show her bitching like a mean girl about Thunder Rosa then want us to be sympathetic. Secondly, Britt Baker took 5 weak kendo stick shots and Adam Cole was simpering and whining like a beta, and it was sold like they'd broke her neck...."I'm sorry...." - oh come on.......

We've come a long way from Royal Rumble 1998, where the New Age Outlaws cuffed Hawk to the ringpost on the outside while they beat on Animal in the ring, and Hawk rips the handcuffs apart and breaks them, and jumps in the ring and kicks The Outlaws asses, to this hokey, stupid, phony, nonsense. Jericho is embarrassing, The Outcasts are embarrassing, this whole angle was embarrassing, and Britt Baker and Adam Cole can't act to save their damned lives. From Badasses, to Betas. Such a shame how wrestling has fallen.

Segment makes no sense. How are we supposed to buy this when they jump through tables constantly, razor wire, hammers and screwdrivers, thumb tacks, glass, brooms, pretty much everything. Even baker has had hardcore matches. So how is this supposed to seem dangerous or painful. By AEW standards this is getting off light.

Nitro at its peak was the last show that felt real and not like a performance. When angles happened security, other wrestlers, and commentary all behaved as you would assume people would if these moments were real. We've been trying to recreate that since and it's cosplay at it's worst. This is an early nwo beat down beat to death.

The only thing they did properly was set up why Hayter didn't come out to help with the arm injury angle earlier on, though she should have come out with her shoulder taped up and taken a kicking as well IMO, would have added to that program at the same time.

The way Jim explains this just had me silent and attentive. This is genius levels of knowledge just being ignored and forgotten.... All so we can see assholes do Flippy shit and/or bleed for no reason.... Jim is a gem/treasure...

What makes this bizarre as well. Britt built herself as a hardcore badass vs Thunder Rosa. Buckets of blood. But hey, couple of kendo sticks and she's out now. 🤔 and all what Adam kept repeating is I'm sorry. Not going crazy, swearing revenge, etc, like any normal guy would. Sigh... I like Cole, but he needs an acting class pronto.

The segment was just awful. The reactions were just embarrassing. "Let her go! Let her go!" Too funny. I laughed my ass off the entire time. The last eight months in AEW has been one bad decision after another.

As overly convoluted as this was, this feud is still a bigger deal than the World Title. It's clear MJF has to take a back seat to this, the girls fighting and even the BCC/Elite stuff.

This angle will almost certainly be the season finale of the reality show they've been filming. And of course they will show Jericho, Sriracha, and Brittany working on it together. They're exposing the Goddamn Business!

Tony Schiavone should have gotten up from the announce desk to try and stop Jericho only to get knocked around.

Every week in AEW someone has an idea for an angle, and they just do it immediately without putting more than 30 seconds of thought into it. Aren't they in the building before dynamite? Cant they talk about these things?

i always hate this kind of segment because like Jim said, it doesnt make sense. Why? Hear me out, If we all pretend wrestling to be real, especially in the early days of Aew when they claimed that they shows sport based presentation product, then why they dont act like it is almost a crime scene and do nothing about it. Yes, i know, segments like this have been done by wwe numerous times. But if you want to create a story, create a story that make sense to the public eyes not just your average hardcore loyalist fans that will watch you no matter what

Adam Cole needs to stop dreaming and billing himself as 6'0" tall and 200 lbs. Guy should cruise on down to cruiserweight and stay away from the heavy. Jericho is a true 6 footer, was hunched for most of the promo and still towered over Cole.

My two favorite wrestlers when NXT was hot we’re Adam Cole and Walter. It’s crazy to see the complete opposite direction their careers have went in.

Bravo Jim! Such a defined way of how to do a segment like this properly. I had the visuals in my head, and can see why some of this segment felt flat. Particurlarly the lack of desperation from Cole to break free of the cuffs, and the heels not having to fight off security to keep the attack on Britt.

Less we forget Earthquake making Quake Burgers out of Damian, or Tatanka not paying the gift tax on the sacred head dress.
