@@jeromemurphy2572 Well, it wasn't "dozens," but several people did see a man whom they later identified as Oswald shoot Tippit. Several more who didn't see the shooting itself did at least see a man appearing to flee the scene, holding a revolver, etc., whom they later identified as Oswald. Several more said they saw a similar-looking man near the scene, although they may not have specifically identified that man as Oswald.

I remember watching the transfer live on TV when I was 7 years old and how shocked I was when Jack Ruby shot and killed Oswald. My mom made me go to my room afterword which I never understood since I had already seen it happen.
In 2017, I was astounded to learn that Jim Leavelle was still alive at the time. In 1963, Leavelle looked like he was in his 60s. So, when I first saw the video of Ruby killing Oswald, back in high school, in the late 80s, I just assumed Leavelle was dead. Turns out he was only 43 when Oswald was shot. After he died in August of 2019, and I saw recent interviews he gave in his 90s, he didn't look much older than he did in 1963.
Leavelle was almost pre-empting that shots would've been fired, in that case, why was security so lax? He stood out like a sore thumb, it must have been planned but did Leavelle always dress like that for work?

Take a long, close look at all the available photographs of the basement at police headquarters the morning Ruby shot Oswald. The place was crowded with television and radio reporters, cameras, police, FBI, Secret Service, you name it. Ruby, according to what we've been told, just happens to wander into this crowded basement and positions himself perfectly for a shot at Oswald. Enter Det. Leavelle and his white stetson hat with Oswald in tow. In every photograph I have seen of this event, I have never seen anyone that stands out more than Jim Leavelle. If he was that worried about someone taking a shot at Oswald, maybe he should have left the white stetson at home.

Something I've wondered about for a while is why Oswald wasn't charged with assault or attempted murder of PO Nick McDonald in the Texas Movie Theater? If Oswald, as was reported by police, tried to pull the trigger of his revolver while wrestling with McDonald, or Oswald had punched McDonald (I think he knocked the officer's cap off his head), with other officers and witnesses present, why wasn't this among the charges brought against Oswald?

Nelson Delgado so Oswald didn't keep in practice & a stationary target. 8 years later in 1963 Oswald was quite rusty as a marksman. And a moving target is much harder to aim. So that's a weak argument & maybe Oswald was telling the truth when he said he didn't shoot anybody.
WINGGULLSEAGULL: Even if Oswald's Carcano was the worst piece of junk in the world (it was definitely not), and Lee the worst shot, it's an irrelevant argument since firearms experts for the Warren Commission and the HSCA proved that it was the same weapon that fired three bullets in Dealey Plaza, two of which struck the President. There is no evidence of any other person's ownership of the rifle, nor of anyone else firing it.

I will always believe that those two "officers" knew they were leading Oswald to be slaughtered. They may as well have hung a big bullseye target on Oswald. Look at their faces. They were both laser-focused on looking straight ahead and then to the right as the vehicle moves in. They should have been glancing right and left for any suspicious moves. Even after Ruby fires the guy on the left is still holding back like he's waiting for Ruby to get another shot in. This is so obviously convenient. Ruby didn't fire until he was in point blank range. One or both of the "accomplices" should have been able to reach out and grab Ruby's arm. They were in on it, no doubt about it.

I first saw Jim's shocked and affronted expression, 7,500 miles away in northern England on the front of the local newspaper my Dad probably brought home on monday the 25th of November 1963. I had just recently turned 7 years of age and of course I never realised then that it would turn into one of the most iconic media images in history. Iv'e seen it countless times since in picture form and on TV and iv'e always had a small fascination with Jim and how he reacted to it privately. He lived to a very grand old age, passing recently at the age of 99 years old. Unlike the sad and unfortunate JFK, and Oswald too, he lived a long and fulfilling life.
Leavelle has always overstated his reaction to the shooting. All visual evidence shows him looking straight ahead prior to the shot going off. Nice job guarding your prisoner.

The climax of the report was: "It is now official. John F. Kennedy, 35th President of the United States, is dead!" "For C----'s sakes!" was the reaction of one in our group, who then commented, "Even Castro could run as a Democrat and win." (He was probably right.)
Leavelle was useful in the Tippit Crime scene. He accidentally stated that he witnessed the bullet shells right next to each other on the ground thereby conflicting with the official report that they were randomly discarded by Oswald as he fled the crime scene. Oswald simply walked out the front door of the Texas School Book Depository after he was questioned in the lunchroom by a policeman & the building manager, according to Lavelle, with all the films, with all the pictures, with all the people around, it just doesn't add up, that he simply done that, because someone would have seen him, recognizing or got a picture of him, or got him on film, he must have been a slick guy let me tell you, to walk out the front door unnoticed in the opposite direction of the shooting, with all that chaos and police and people running around nobody saw him or got a picture of him, or got him on film, it just doesn't add up?? for some reason?
Leavelle has always misrepresented his actions. Every photo & video angle clearly shows that Ruby fired his pistol BEFORE Leavelle even looked in his direction. Leavelle expects everyone to believe his version of events despite clear photographic evidence proving otherwise.

Why did he bring his dog Sheba with him and leave her in his car outside the Western Union office if he was planning to kill Oswald? He walked down that ramp less than 1 minute before they finally brought out Oswald. There is no way Ruby could have timed the delayed transfer of Oswald if it was a planned hit. No conspiracy... just coincidental timing and an impulsive reaction by a Ruby the nut.

You need to read Jack Ruby's trial transcript. There was a garage attendant where Ruby parked his car overheard Ruby using the garage phone saying he would be there when Oswald was to be transferred. Levelle says at the beginning of the interview he didn’t know Oswald was allegedly involved in the shooting of the president, he thought he was arrested for shooting an officer. If that’s true, then why would Levelle say to Oswald, as they were handcuffed together, that he hopes if someone shoots at him they are as good of a shooter as he is. He’s implying the close call of almost shooting Jackie because she was inches away from JFK. Things that make you go hmmmm.

The cops who arrested Oswald claimed he tried to shoot one of them. Oswald could have been including that accusation in his 'I didn't shoot anybody' statement. Or he may have heard about Kennedy's shooting from the lady who ran the rooming house where he stayed. Or he may have held the not unreasonable assumption that he was going to be a patsy for several shootings in and around Dallas including Tippit's. This statement has significance but not in the way Detective Leavelle suggests.

What I always found odd is that Sunday of all days he wore a white on white suit making him stand out . Every other day he and every other man wore a black or dark colored suit . Go back and look at the footage of the weekend up to the transfer and shooting . That white suit made Leavelle the man escorting Oswald easy to spot in a crowd of dark suits . Just a thought .

Philip Bourdon I just heard the social media that Lee Harvey Oswald's brother is dead I just found out about it Monday he died on a Monday my condolences to his two nieces that their uncle is dead he's the only one that believes in his brother's innocent it's a shame gone

If you spend any amount of "real" time looking into this case. Meaning anything other than your tube and your latest JFK Yahoo article. AT THE MINIMUM. You will quickly see. This case has too many inconsistent and odd happenings. That alone gives reason to at least ponder the accuracy of the official report. I dunno who pulled the trigger. But i do know there are way too many different things that happend to place Oswald as the lone assassin. And for this Detective to be that certain either suggest he is lying or completely ignorant of fact surrounding the case.
The evidence to the contrary is both plentiful and credible...the paraffin test proved he fired no weapons that day. For anyone to make a statement like that after all these years must be a troll or a govt interested party disseminating b.s. with the same enthusiasm as that joke of a Commission.
You can't say that if tou truly know a good amount of facts about the case. The more you learn the more certain you'll become that Oswald was a shooter and possibly THE shooter. The more you learn the less certain you'll become of a conspiracy, I assure you.
You cannot with that type of single action bolt rifle, get off 3 accurate shots on a moving target as fast as it played out. A Navy Seal did a reenactment of the shooting & couldn't get it done.
Afyer Oswald got shot it looked to me they were trying to straighten him up which i found totally unusual . if you broke your back would you want me to straighten your back up ?
He had a front row seat to history and even so some of his statements are a little confusing. There are so many pieces to this puzzle and so many confuse or contradict others. It’s kind of like buying a jigsaw puzzle with a “1000” pieces, but there are 1200 pieces and no matter how you do it there are always pieces that fit with others but don’t fit as a group. You can complete the puzzle but there are always pieces leftover that can interchange but change the picture. No matter how you put the pieces together you get a picture that doesn’t look complete. So, do you ignore some of the pieces and go with the picture you like or go with the other pieces that make a different picture. Or just cut some of the pieces so it looks like you want it to? Whether or not Oswald was a patsy, he seems to have been a perfect candidate.
Yeah, I'm surprised somebody didn't shoot Jack Ruby , too...But then again, having another assassin for the assassin of the assassin would have really looked peculiar and conspiratorial ...They didn't want people to start thinking they needed a scorecard. Everybody already THOUGHT Jack Ruby was crazy ( he really wasn't ) and they didn't need to silence Ruby , the way they needed to with Oswald.
