Jim Steranko's Nick Fury Artist's Edition: A Nerdventures' Review 

Jim Steranko is awesome. See his variant cover for Action Comics 1000.

Beautiful book! To me Steranko is like the Jimi Hendrix of comic books with regards to artistic output and impact.

Around 13:25 you say, "He's not the same guy he was back when...?" I was taken aback. I believe you're mistaken and I disagree strongly; as would Jim. Have you seen anything he done recently. He's potent. He's better now than he ever was. Those pages you blew off were amazing page break add-ins to this collection. A selling point for me. New Steranko images are JUST what I need. Dude. Heresy on your part. Other than that, I appreciate your look-see. This is like thumbing through the book myself at the store. I had all this stuff as a kid.

Exactly know that feeling you are talking about, it's really hard to find art that could "bring it" but it's fantastic when you do. I probably will pick up SHIELD omnibus now :D

These Artist's Editions are great. I have Daredevil and Spider-Man. Oh and grabbed the Star Wars Dark Times one too, which feels more like a pencils only book.

Steranko...Ditko..the big O's.......This publication looks great. James was such a innovator.....he really needs his Dues!!!!Same with Ditko's stuff. Even without color the pages just Pop! God, that time of the Marvel hayday was so sort of sterile and assembly line drawings. In my head, I had an image of a nibbish little artist at his desk,all stoop shouldered and Robert Crumbesque. Then, I saw a photo of Mr. Steranko...and I was blown away. Young...movie star looks...great dresser...Pure Hollywood. Then I began to admire his work even more....not that there was anything wrong with fatherly Kirby or cuddly bear persona of say a Dave Cockrum...who I just love. All I can say is Bravo...to a great artist. Awaiting a send off to Michael Golden some day!!!

I remember when saying that you liked-which I do,big time-The Phantom Menace, was a radical statement,or just geared towards poking some fan-boy-dork in the ribs for fun,but,now, after those grotesque Disney Star Wars movies-I was forced to watch the first one on a plane-couldnt take food for hours after watching the trailer to the recent one-I've noticed that many people who used to slam episodes one through three are regretting crapping on the occasionally wonderful mister Lucas's stuff. May the Jar Jar be with you.
