Kimberly Van Waus of the Lee County Sheriff's Office was questioned about the numerous crime scene photos she took at the scene of the murder of Teresa Sievers.
I know what you're saying. However, some people have tendency to smile when dealing with pressure. A baseball player from Curacao was bench by his manager, and because he has an eternal smile on his face the his manager took it like he was mocking him till he got to know him. You've to hat those kind of people dealing with blood in a everyday basis. I don't want her job....Would you?
@VeritasVosLiberabit Whether you like it or not, this courageous girl is in her bubble. She must stay there. The job she's doing is already very very difficult. I bet she does not bring her job home......end of the story....
@@diego5125 Nah, she's clearly just self-centered. Either way her job really isn't that hard. She probably took so many selfies for herself to look at that she figured a career photographing things all day would be fitting.
I can’t stand to see so called experts smiling and giggling on the stand, it’s unprofessional and disrespectful to the victim family.

Shes smiling at the jury dumbass when she looks at them. Thats why when she gives her answer she looks away from the person asking the question... what you dont smile when you look at someone
Kixx Spyster ... did she tell you that? Or is that you unasked, unwanted opinion?... it does not matter who she is smiling at, her job during this court proceeding is to give testimonial facts to the jury, and that fact of the matter is this is a murder case not Comedy Central.
This woman helped solve the case. Disrespect to the victims family, no. If I were a member of the victims family, I would have given her a hug and I would have said, "Keep smiling, you did an outstanding job and thanks."
They need to be this way to cope I’d say but I am no expert plus some people when nervous act this way. I don’t think she’s being disrespectful purposely but I’d understand why this would be assumed.
@@maggiepatterson7949 it not easy for everyone to speak in public. When people are nervous they smile to cover it. She did a great job that is more than enough.
Maybe this is as lighthearted as life gets for her. A normal day would be photographing a fresh victim body. So, no, she would not be able to maintain a normal demeanor. That job would make anyone insane.
@@stephmullin9709 oh shut up ....gees . Shes gorgeous , very intelligent , well presented , well spoken , see`s stuff on a daily basis that I hope you NEVER have to see , so , give her a break .
She is totally disrespectful, I know it's her job you still have to consider the family's feelings, this is their loved ones brutal murder scene, no empathy...sad world we live in 😪
No empathy is not a sin....She is simply different to you..If she were an empath, she would not be able to do the job she does....She's perfect for her job
@@IwasBlueb4 Maybe empathy "cause obviously she has none" isn't the right word to use for her actions in explaining a crime scene 🤔 you'd think she was talking about a night out partying, definitely not professional in her case...
I agree. Perry mason in her own mind. “Yes I did”. Just STFU. U have a bachelors degree which is basically a just a school diploma these days. She thinks she so intelligent and important. Puhlease .... you walk around with a camera. I’m sooo impressed
Actually, EVERYTHING about her is disturbing. Where is the RESPECT? For her to smile & play to everyone in the Courtroom, like she was auditioning for a bit part in a cheap movie. The family of Dr Sivers had to sit through this disturbing & painful ordeal, while she laughed, smiled, smirked, played with her hair, & talked through her testimony, even when she was talking about her gruesome death. If it was a member of my family, I would not have sat there watching her & believing a word she said! Disgraceful & Disrespectful. Anyone can get Qualified on Paper, maybe they need to teach Courtroom Etiquette & RESPECT . She is the most self centered person ive ever seen in her position.
She is like a CHILD!! Her demeanor is so inappropriate!! Smiling, giggling... It is awful. Her face should have been serious the entire time. THERE IS NOTHING FUNNY!! I can't believe they chose her for this job.
Does this CSI realize that the mother and sister of the victim are in the court room? Court decorum obviously was not part of her training or qualification.
@@elissadavis5657 She sees that every day.....shes detached ...as are surgeons, many nurses and doctors, soldiers.... doctors who perform autopsies....We need Psychopaths for certain jobs
@@IwasBlueb4 there no need to explain this to people incapable of putting the left shoe on the left foot hun. Life goes one way for them. There are no colors but black and white. They’re ALWAYS right, even when they don’t actually see what this woman is making faces AT.
I actually felt hurt for Teresa Sievers when this forensic person gave a couple laughs and scornful remarks at the messiness of the office. You, a stranger, are there, because Teresa Siever’s life was taken in that home. Show some respect!
@@carolmaurice3656 She isnt. A low level degree and no 'higher' education. Essentially she does the grunt work. Nothing to produce the self satisfaction this creature exhibits.
It’s disturbing and creepy to see a crime scene photographer smiling, laughing and winking at the jury. It’s really bizarre behavior. I don’t know if she is just socially awkward or takes none of it seriously. Someone was murdered and she is smiling.
It's her job. If she got emotional with it, it wouldn't be her job. You are all just inexperienced at this area, she sees this shit everyday. It's nothing for her, it's her job and she helps the families solving their cases. You show some respect to her since you are here just watching this for entertainment while people have died.
Not my observation of her. She appears to be someone who loves what they do. Her experience and education show that she is credible, not withstanding the fact that she is very detailed with her responses.
@@risingsun33 I agree with you here. She obviously has the credentials a two-year associates, followed by a four-year accredited university degree, followed by an international certificate and one hundred hours of training in criminal investigation. Plus she has a very confident demeaner, and presentation skills. It helps also that she is a good looking woman.
@JusticeAA hmmm.u know her maybe? She was VERY unprofessional. Perhaps shes get good at her job but her demneanor was childish and gross. Im sure shes reading these comments (right??) And i just hope its a lesson learned
Keep in mind that she is giving evidence four years after the actual kiilling, so why should anybody expect her to be overcome with grief. In my opinion she seems very well prepared, confident, thorough, clear and concise in her answers. If there were any doubts and uncertainties in her testimony the defense would take her evidence apart and discredit her. Everybody remembers the glove that didn't fit the hand of OJ Simpson, and its consequences. As for the way she appears to look away when answering questions. She is making sure the jury hears her testimony. If I were a prosecutor I would love to have her on my team.
@@jamesdolan4042 your statement is ridiculous. She doesn't need to be "overcome w grief" jeez. But she doesn't have to be soooo happy to be rhere... the family is there. Id be ssuper upset
@@ninachkah13 Have you ever been court? Better still have you ever sat on a jury for those 3+ day trials, where both the defense and offense present their cases. If one side bungles then then the decision for the guilt or innocence could be determined in the eyes of the jury. I have been on such a jury. In addition, in this case there is a defense team whose lead attorney can initiate with the states attorney a conference talk with the judge to stop or change her testimony. The Judge himself or herself can halt proceedings until she changes her demeaner, or even dismiss her from giving further evidence if he finds her manner out of order. Further I will bet you because of the magnitude of the case there were at least at least three pre-trial hearings to determine who gives evidence, where the background of that person giving who will evidence will have been thoroughly scrutinized by defense/state attorneys and if acceptable signed off by the judge. Nothing is given to chance in a trial of this nature. Lastly, the ordinary people in the audience like to hear and see what is going on, and listening to evidence in court can be notoriously repetitive, monotonous, muffled and barely audible, so a confident, clear, yes cheerful woman like the one here makes the trial easier for everbody.
@@jamesdolan4042 Respect for the family is called for, she's not showing any. I haven't read anyone calling for grief, she didn't know the family. They are sitting right in front of her.
Someone should have coached this women on the proper and professional demeanor in court. Her smiles portray her as a spoiled brat trying to impress the jurors with her position and importance. If I were a juror I would have found her irritating to say the least.
Woman ( singular ) Her smile could portray shyness , speaking in public, or self confidence.... She is extremely professional and highly intelligent...
@@IwasBlueb4 are you dating her, a familial relation, a friend, or a fan? Attacking a well worded critique for a single mistake, (using the plural form instead of the singular "woman") seems really out of place if (to you) she is just some random crime scene photographer. Look at every other comment, read the room. She just seems excited in a situation where some decorum seems VERY warranted. Sure, this is her career and it's great to love what you do. Maybe this was her first time being recorded? Maybe she is just very passionate and "excited" to catch the bad guy!? Who knows? The point everyone seems to be making, (albeit some comments seemed egregious, even for RU-vid comment standards) is that this woman didn't seem to be prepared for this deposition/expert testimony, (by the attorneys fault or her own).
Good grief, anyone would think this lady is not talking about her qualifications and assessment of a horrific murder but a speech 🎤 accepting a long life dream of an award . It’s mind boggling and totally inappropriate. Feel dreadfully sad for the victim’s family. 😔
@@MooseJuice1983 I’m not sure if the defense just didn’t notice, or they knew discrediting her testimony/judgment on cross would be a waste of time… either way, I’m surprised they didn’t jump on it. They needed all the help they could get
She's desensitized to human behavior. Her intentions aren't to be disrespectful. To do her job you have to be okay with the smell of decomposing bodies, the sight of brain matter, blood and disfigured human anatomy. The sight of a murder victim brutally killed with a hammer, so bad that the victim looks cartoonish wouldnt sit well with most people.
I’m actually offended by her smiling through this. Sounds like she’s bragging about herself, and obviously didn’t find it all that disturbing. Kinda sick, I think.
These are shocking photos l am a photographer and they are totally under exposed, she should take a course in photography never seen such shocking photos ever.
The way she talks about it there’s very little expertise that comes across. You get the sense she just takes a bunch of photos, possibly with a selfie stick.
thats her job to take photos of everything everthing.......to show what was there the money she took pictures of is saying that it was not a burglars way they take anything that is money or they can sell for money
Can everyone calm the hell down!? This is a very nerve-racking experience. She is on camera, in front on a room full of people, trying to answer accurately, while discussing very sensitive information with a dude's life on the line. She may be in rare form. You all cant do what she does, so shut it!
Or she could just be nervous because all eyes and cameras are on her maybe why the lady is smiling its not out of disrespect for the situation just the uncomfortable situation she finds her self in most probably
Exactly. She’s very unprofessional. Shows NO RESPECT for even the crime scene much less the family. She’s also laughing at some of the pictures. Ignorant behavior. I can understand being nervous BUT this behavior is totally ridiculous. Her photos aren’t even that good.
I couldn't imagine been in that situation yes it's her job it's what she signed up for but to have so many eyes on you including cameras and I think there actually taught to smile and be polite not show emotions to be neutral to the situation she clearly done her job properly because the crime was solved and the monsters responsible locked away where they belong I'm sure if a crime happened at any. Your residence or buisness premises you'd want her or someone similar in that position to be taking photos and. Not some have a go hero who doesn't know what there doing she clearly knows her job and knows it well its a tough ask there's so much to do and I respect her massively for that 🙏🙏🙏
I hope that whatever narcism or nervous disorder that causes her to constantly smile and pre-giggle leads her to watching this clip and realizing we ALL find the behaviour bizarre, unprofessional and insensitive
I think she is laughing at attorney's stupid questions. "Do you have any training/do you have a method/were you using the method/were you still using the photographing method/are these the pictures you took."
I’ve never seen a trial where anyone is talking to the jury. Never. Ever. They’re not talking to you they want to hear your conversation with the lady asking questions.
Bear Bones Huh?! Did you just feel like saying all this because you over exaggerated your answer. I’m not saying that you can’t look at the jury or give them a glance once in a while, but he was talking directly to the jury.

yeah she totally laughed because of the death of others, totally. why are you idiots so ignorant xD. isnt it obvious she is laughing because the questions are just obnoxious? WHAT DO WE SEE IN 5E? a damaged door? Ok, now describe 5C. It's the same door... How can you not understand that.. yes, it's awful what happened. but not everyone is as connected as the family. suck it up.
Yes, absolutely. This woman represents EVERY American, and their capacity for empathy. If you had any reading comprehension in whatever shithole country you live in, you would see that virtually every other comment is someone complaining about her demeanor. So, go fck your pompous self.
I wish on cross examination she had been asked whether she played with her hair, smiled laughed and giggled at the scene and showed the same lack of professionalism she has in court! If I was on the jury it would make me question her intelligence that she doesnt know what appropriate behaviour in court is and doesn't realise that in public she needs to show respect for the gravity of the crime and victim. Even if she had to fake it. The lack of self awareness is staggering.
I agree. She thinks she’s auditioning for a part in a movie.!! She’s soooo disrespectful. She is making herself look ignorant. If I was watching her behavior as part of the jury, I’d be very cautious of her pictures. She seems to think this is all a joke of a job when it’s a very serious matter. I can understand that you have to be detached from the situation but this behavior is ridiculous.
Should be rules for how you present yourself. Smiling anywhere in the room I would find offensive or ignorant let alone the moose sat sleeping at 1:10:42
She is suppose to be a professional did you not hear her state all her credentials and it's pretty obvious this isn't her first courtroom case she's done it before. She doesn't have courtroom manner like when a doctor doesn't have bedside manner. She's comes across as callous because all she seems to care about is how well she did her job. Maybe that's the way she is suppose to be who knows.
lol if I didn't know better, from all the comments here I'd think the technician was on trial charged for smirking and smiling. Come on people. Micro-complaints are so annoying. One person starts it then everyone jumps on the bandwagon. 🙄 It's what she's saying that's most important.
All these miserable people can't stand seeing a woman who takes pride in her work and enjoys it. Get the stick out of your ass people Joe Biden is all you got Hhhhhh don't forget to WIPE
Why is she smiling so much? She does realize no one is smiling with her and it makes her look very unprofessional and very unattractive. She’s a horrible witness and person.
Why hasn’t no one mentioned how shocking her photography is how could anyone tell what anything was. If my staff took photos like that I would fire them.
Someone tell het about the smiles and all she really think she's pretty but not, she had a ugly soul not caring about the murder it's about how she looks. They will lose this case. Who is she so I can put her name out there she's not caring person. M
I know this is her job but man, showing how proud she is at her job does not coop with the atmosphere. She could smile and celebrate her success in private not in court, this is my opinion. . .
Everyone in the comments point out that she is smiling and they are somehow offended by it. May I remind you that not even the court dares to tell her how to act and behave because .. I would like to point out the fact that outside of doing her job, taking pictures and assessing the crime scene she has no connection to the victim, the family or the accused. You've all been watching too much CSI. Why do you think she should feel bad and not smile? How come you think she should make every case into some personal drama? It happened and she had nothing to do with it. She is in a room with people that have no clue what her job is and she has to explain every simple action she took to perform her job. She is probably smiling after she found out that her deduction, conclusion and recreation of the scene paid out to the letter and she nailed it. What in the world is wrong with that?
Who is this woman?? Honestly, she is very well rehearsed by the questions, but the smiling and smirking is awful! I would think a person with her experience, certainly understand how to behave about such a serious murder trial. I feel very sorry for the victims family. If that were me, I would wait until she was done outside the court room and ask her some simple questions about her testimony/behavior.. I would also make sure I would complain verbally and in writing to her superiors. As someone stated, it's possible that she is highly nervous, but she still lacks respectful seriousness.
The lawyer for Jimmy wasn't ready apparently. It takes forever before each question. It is scary to think you are depending on her with your freedom. She had no idea what she was going to say or ask . Wow!!!!!
Maybe those smiles were out of nervousness, regardless of that, she could use a public speaking and presentation course. I bet she won't be smiling like that if she were the mother of a murder victim. I can't really imagine how Teresa's mom felt like during that interview. A stranger "expert" smiling too often while discussing the details of your daughter's gruesome murder. I bet Dr. Sievers took her work much more seriously. Anyhow, I can't assess this woman's professionalism because this was an easy case solved entirely by technology. Had the situation been more complicated, I don't know if this forensic expert would've been the right pick for the task.
Let me get this straight, they killed her on credit, while the whole time there was approximately 50 thousand dollars right there. So in other words that husband wasn't going to pay those fools anything ... EVER!!!! LOL
My ex-wife always smile or laugh when she was under pressure. Don't know why people are judging this girl cus she "seems to smile". Why don't admire the job she's accomplishing? Would you do her job walking in a crime scene where kids have been killed and there's blood all over?.....Give her a break....some people up here must learn some human behavior a little.
Because she acts like she's going to bust out singing and dancing zippity doo dah when she's talking about a crime scene where a lady was hammered to death. It's weird and creepy. She's not acting nervous, she's playing to the camera.
Yes, she's a bit "perky" considering the gruesome scene she had to process. Some people tend to behave inappropriately ( smiling) when very nervous. In her defense...she seems very qualified....thorough...and very dedicated to her work. Were this to happen to my loved one .... she's the one I would want on the job.
People watching this probably don't take into consideration that as of the time of this lady's testimony, this crime had happened three years before. She has processed many crimes since then and this one becomes just another crime that she was at. It seems she is not affected, but believe me, she was at the time.
Lady today.... surprised she didnt ask how many rocks were on the ground and how many dishes were left in the sink? Totally waste of time this trial...
