In which I take ten minutes to actually get on topic.

I have genuinely been putting off adapting this specific script from blog to video for a whole year at this point, and in that interim, have inadvertently turned this into the year of Sephiroth and Malos. Put it off so long that FFVII Rebirth released and I dedicated a decent chunk of dialogue to Sephiroth there. This video was still looming in the background. And then to try and ease myself in with a light wordcount (spoiler: that stopped being light), also made a top gaming heroes/villains draft that I'll get to later...which again spends its lengthiest chunk of time on these two guys.

Dude this video is so awesome oh my god, I wish more people analyzed Xenoblade 2 like you do it's like my favorite game ever. I never thought about the sephiroth parallels past the basic designs in Jin but you make it seem so obvious!!

Xenoblade 2 draws heavily from its spiritual predecessor Xenogears, which was originally pitched as an idea for FF7’s story. There’s something weirdly poetic about the antagonists of Xenoblade 2 being the spiritual successors to Sephiroth

This is a very cool analysis of these villains and themes. Admittedly I’m not super familiar with Final Fantasy 7 and Sephiroth, but I’ve gained a newfound appreciation for the character. Jin and Malos’s analysis was truly masterclass. I don’t see people associate Malos with Drifting Soul often, but the lyrics and his character mesh together so well that I’m sad the idea doesn’t get brought up often. There’s so much I want to praise about this video but I can’t put the words together.
