There should be a town square in Tulsa named after these two of their sons. They've brought more glory and happiness to that town than any politician ever will.
Two lifelong buddies from Tulsa, who grew up together in the 50's having so much fun with the music! When Leon kicks in on the Hammond at 00:31 all care is gone!
Amen gentlemen more rhythm in your tiny toes than the current rubbish that’s why we will never forget the wonderful rhythms you guys created. RIP we salute you and thank you .
Man I’m 22 and I wish I grew up during this time. everything seemed so much better than today. The music, the women, the price of everything lol. Music now doesn't even compare to 60s 70s tunes
Loved all the songs that Eric Clapton did that JJ wrote. And all the times Leon played with George Harrison, Joe Cocker and Elton to name a few. Of course, his playing on Monster Mash is classic!

Lucky you to see him twice!Visited a lot of concerts, but one is missing...JJCale....and now its to late.Glad we have still the music. A few weeks ago saw Fleetwood Mac here in the Netherlands!Still going strong! Greetings to you Debbie!
I never saw JJ, but I saw Leon twice last decade in the Granada theatre in Dallas. Had really close seats once. He was still great, though in not so good shape.
@@anthonyparkinson5820 Those are a lotta jewels of Tulsa's groove and soul &b-influenced session musicians in Leon's Paradise Studios at Leon and Cale's invitation. Many, like ace fiddler, rhythm guitarist and drummer Bill Boatman remained in Tulsa to earn a more secure living delivering newspapers rather than risk bagging groceries at Safeway that Russell cites on another Paradise Studios Cale session jam as his first gig when he came out to LA and before he gained entry to the small group of steadily employed, if anonymous first call session musicians who were nick-named The Wrecking Crew. See U. of Tube clips of all the outtake interviews with The Wrecking Crew members, many feature a Leon Russell story. He wasn't a mindless showboat, actually a thoughtful prankster and deeply emo musical accompanist favored by a very wide stylistic range of pop star and ad agency cutting jingles... Ya gotta see what Leon did as a rock star given the keys to LA's public broadcasting studios for a live stereo FM simulcast experiment named THE HOMEWOOD SESSIONS now posted to U. of Tube as a true American Broadcasting Museum artifact VHS treasure of what the Public Broadcasting system could've hosted nationally if it ever had the vision of Canada and Europe's Public Interest broadcasters... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4bwMqliLXZQ.html Mitch Ritter\Paradigm Sifters, Shifters and Song Chasers Lay-Low Studios, Ore-Wa Media DISC-US-sion List

Anyone watching 2023? Don't get any better than this folks. I find it strange I never heard the song “No Sweat” in 1959, I was 17 years old and really into instrumentals.
Would be a great thing if it was available to buy, as on iTunes store or on cd. Have not found such yet. Bought my first JJ album in 1973. Such fabulous, uplifting music; real music - not "fake music".
Here's from a project of the Memphis Minnie incarnate Missus Lakeland Cale when she wasn't playing in Cale's bands. Her own blues band was called The Code. Seek out her solo projects for their own merit and the occasional "Charles Johnson" credit or "Jose Murdoch" as Tulsa Timekeeper Jimmy Karstein sometimes worked under the name of in certain states... And, to your point, "DRINK MORE COFFEE," it'll put you ahead too... www.reverbnation.com/christinelakelandturntome/song/1551270-drink-more-coffee Warmly and buzzed after the house joe with my Coco's Donut here in PoTown, Ore after 5 AM shift shlepping as crowds stock up on toilet paper and sanitizer for our current national quarantine handled so delicately by our bi-partisan oiligarchy..... This is just great, Ziggy! Thanks for the upload. Saw in the JJ bio that he and Leon and a couple other gooduns were only living about a mile from me in Tulsa when I was a kid.
