nice comparison. I currently have 3x 15year old JL 10w0 powered by a 600watt 2ohm JL amp behind the seat of my truck. I would like to upgrade these subs to the JL shallow series but cannot decide if I should do 2x 12TW1, 2x 10tw3 or one 13tw5. I think I leaning to the Tw1's in 12" for the must output but wondering if the 10" tw3 with the large Xmax will be louder?
Would you recommend 2 12Tw3 with a jL xd1000.1 in a single cab Chevy Silverado? Currently I have a 2 12” mmats pro but I kinda want to have everything jl
Just picked up a Tw5 4ohm from a friend and for the life of me I cant decide which amp to go with without destroying my bank account. Would have far more options with the 2 ohm, but been dealt the hand and now I'm scratching my head trying to drive the sub without burning my pocket. Can I get away with going for half power to save money as long as I keep the levels at an appropriate level? Or will I be unhappy with that?
What do you recommend for 2017 Chevy Colorado? My Colorado comes with a stock Boze system, but to me lacks that real Bass. So I'm looking for ways to better add Bass. Open to suggestions, thank you.
Depending on your budget adding a small powered subwoofer to your system will help fill in whats missing. If you want to largely improve your system I would look into a JL stealth box.
@@stereoking7778 I'm looking for a box that fits in. The correct 10s, I would like to add 2 of them. Then of course the right amp to power the woofers. What are your suggestions?
myboy051 I have two 12 tw3 ported and it sounds amazing . It’s running off xd600/1v2 , I haven’t hear the regular w3 so I don’t know what the difference is tbh .
@@Raulm96 i was setting car alarm with a prefab ported box bro if you can get a custom ported box for them omg they will sound amazing. If i had them in a ported prefab box setting alarms off rumming down the street image what a custom box can do . Bro get them with a rockford fosgate t1000 power series u will last forever with a setup like that
JL's ported box design on the 12" TW3 states the port wall as 26" but it states the port length as 31". Should it have an L shaped port to get the extra length or is it just supposed to be the 26". I don't have box calculator to check because my laptop is on the fritz. Any help you give would be appreciated.
stereo king oregon the 26" is the port cut length, the 31.25 is the total port length with the end factor calculated in. Man box calculation software has made me dumb.
Audio rookie here, but does a smaller sub generally produce tighter punchier bass and larger produce louder and deeper “messy” bass, or are other factors in play.
Stereo King I’m referencing that 10” TW1 in a sealed enclosure, as that’s what I’m considering going with. Unless there’s another 10” or possibly 8” sub that has a tighter punchier sound that you would recommend.
Not really! I depends on the sub, the enclosure .... the enclosure, and the environment. The the only ROT i go by is that there are good and bad versions of subs/enclosure combinations.
@@stereoking7778 You won't get more bass out of a 13TW5. I have both the 13TW5v2 and the 12TW3. I find the 12TW3 much more capable, louder, deeper and plays louder than the TW5. If you're really limited for space then that would be the only reason to go for the TW5 due to its very slim profile.
Hey guys need help plz i have a JL audio 1000/1 i was told i can't put a speaker box behind the back seat and that i need to out the speaker under the seat i was thinking of using the 13tw5v2-4 would that work on that amp or wha tv would you recommend for that amp by the way my truck is a 2004 Silverado crew cab
JL makes a stealth box for truck it is the SB-GM-SLVCRW/10TW3. It does go behind the back seat, here is a link to the box. www.jlaudio.com/car-audio-stealthbox-gmc-sierra-crew-cab-trucks-99-07
I have TWO 13TW5 built off the rear deck in a sealed box...terribly underpowered with a JL 500/1 amp.I should have a 1000/1 minimum, but they still BOOM after 9 yrs.
I ran 2 13 inch TW5’s in a custom built to spec box with a JL Audio 1200HD. Hated the way it sounded. Horrible bass. And I’m a JL fan. Currently have a 13 W7 in my other car with a slash 1000/1. Kicker CompRT is what you want for shallow subs.
They don’t outperform any standard woofer. A $130 Audiopipe BDC2-12 will wipe the floor with all that thin mount garbage. And if the Xmax is so huge, why don’t you show it here. Hook up a 1kw and show the stroke. No one wants to see a QVC demo.
Jl subs are picky about what enclosure they go into, so check the specs of your enclosure and the sub to see if they are similar. If they are, in my opinion the tw3 subs are by far my favorite shallow mount subs.
