21st seed btw 0:00 vs Wally 0:27 vs Plup 3:27 vs Llod 4:39 vs n0ne 6:37 vs iBDW 9:14 vs Zain Bracket: smash.gg/tournament/genesis-8... My stuff: linktr.ee/tiebex
Jmook's run got increasingly more impressive every set not only because of the players he beat, but also because it looked like he was reaching a different level each time. By the time he went up against n0ne and iBDW, he began doing things I never even dreamed of with Sheik. Absolute thrill to watch and one can only hope Jmook is just getting started.
You know what I don’t even like shiek but jmook is a pleasure to watch…as I’m writing this it’s reminding me when I first saw zain 😳!!! Yo is jmook the zain of sheiks? Are we witnessing the beginning of something truly special?! I believe so!
@@Hugo_Prolovski probs because back air is so big and useful in lots of situations. JMOOK really made it look great tho because you just avoid edgeguard situations entirely if you call out their recovery option
Watching his entire run live was hands down one of my favorite moments of smash. He killed it on every single stock. So grateful I could witness the start of his legacy. Jmook fan forever
It's cool to see the evolution of the Marth style. Ken, M2K, PPMD, and now Zain all have pushed the Meta to insane levels of thier respective Eras. I wonder who will be the next big Marth after Zain?
Friendly reminder to everyone that this man prior to Genesis Highest ranking was 13th in NY Never ranked on MPGR Only attended one national since 2017 (SWT Finals, 13th) I know Armada, KDJ, and Albert are known for their obscene rise to fame in a short period...but this is almost certainly the most shocking tournament run ever in Smash. Only thing I can think of is Salem winning Apex 2013 due to ZSS. Naturally if anyone has another tournament run no one saw coming that is in the same ballpark as those two let me know, I live for this kind of stuff
Jake's been beating top players since 2017. It may seem like he's new because he hasn't attended very many big tournaments, but trust me when I say this man's talent did not come to fruition during slippy. People have always always said Jake is gonna be going places, he's just got to compete more. Look at the man now!
really enjoyed watching his set against ibdw. not sure if it’s because i’ve been playing melee longer or if i just wanted to see this guy win, i have an all new view on tech chasing style. that shit is not easy to do
The show of dominance here is astonishing for a player so many have simply never heard of. That being said, Zain just completely stomped Jmook. With Mang0 potentially retiring, who knows who will be taking Zain down? Melee is so exciting right now
It's rare to have someone be excited to get 2nd at a supermajor. Nearly everyone who makes top 8, even from loser's side, is there to win it all and nothing less There's literally no way Jmook wasn't excited to get 2nd. He probably would've been happy with 3rd to Cody.
Why did no one just tech the fucking dthrows?! Like in that Ibdw match, he straight up never teched. In today's meta, every shiek main thrives on the tech in place and no tech.
It messes with rhythm if doing crouch tech chasing and requires you to do a crouch dash on reaction if they are going for best punish. Dash out of crouch still easy but it’s a lot harder than just tech chasing regularly
Boring basic play from a above average shiek player, this was definetly a one time thing tho, we wont see a better performance from him in a while, once top players study him he is out. Great run tho
@@Natjere @Anuraag Kumar Basic tech chase and setup plays with some rate needle edge guard isn't something ground breaking that is new, its been done before and like against wizzy people will start adapting to his tech chase and they will recover in other ways to avoid needles. You will see, wait for summit :) I said it was a great run and he did a great job! no flame
@@kiwiswe3471 there’s no adapting to getting tech chased lmao. Wizzy is the best performing falcon rn no one has been necessarily “figuring him out”. It is very hard to do as consistently as he was doing it. He also took a game off zain a matchup where tech chasing isn’t something shiek does a bunch there he’s just plain good.
nah tech chase is more than just reaction to the enemy, it s about set plays after the grab, jmook use some set plays with his tech chase, like holding up smash after down throw, people got hit by that 100 times in one set but once they study and di correctly they wont get hit
