I wish that was available for single player, playing on console so no funny mods for me yet

I will say having a whole squad is very fun

What's awesome is that it doesn't really affect the difficulty very much. I'm still very much challenged by this game while having seven party members. And you get to hear a lot more cute dialogue

Be careful with it though. It can bork some cutscenes or downright make some teammates not responsible anymore after some stuff. I was told to be careful of a certain boat ride with more characters than default.

The best part about BG3 is that it has a "camp" outfit that is just aesthethics and a "default" outfit that actually represents the armor you're wearing, so all your characters can run around naked while having full AC.

it would be horrifically unbalanced. you mop the floor with most fights and you only have 4 people, having the full gang would utterly break the action economy

​​@@syrusalder7795well, then you have entire party for dialog/story purposes but have to choose 4 characters for fights - half of modern jrpg works that way already.

​@@syrusalder7795Been playing on Tactician and the game is still challenging, although I would be lying if it didn't make it a little easier. I'm also doing an evil run with this so I only have Durge, Astarion, Shadowheart, Gale, Lae'zel, and Minthara. I've heard that there's another mod that increases enemy health to help bring it back in balance. I'll look into that when I do a good-aligned Durge run.

I know there's a mod for it. And I'm aware it could could make the current game as designed too easy. That's why I specified wishing it was a core feature. As in the game would be accordingly balanced and one wouldn't need to seek out mods.

@@ChromaticEagle keep in mind, I'm only in act one: Asterion is dramatic, and hates my selfless heroism. Gale is just annoying. Eats magic items, complains, dramatic, pushy.

Wdym "not necessarily the most powerful item in there"? It's an item that deletes all act 2 difficulty and trivializes what a lot of people considering the hardest fight in act 3.

You're right! Not only is she probably very worried and on edge but as far as I understand she was raised in a culture that values strength and tenacity over everything and generally regards empathy as a sign of weakness, one which will inevitably lead to failure and is therefore a threat to her people in their constant battle.

So far I want her on my team but I am a little disappointed with how they introduced her. Thinks I'm a thrall so she goes to attack me but mind powers activate and somehow that convinces her I'm not part of the group that use mind powers? Then again it should of been expected when they said "you only remember your name" and then they go on describing how you remember having the tadpole put in you just 2 seconds later. So much for only remembering the name.

It can be both you know? But man, getting past that initial personality of sandpaper is rough... She does a *really* good job of pushing you away.

@@Archris17 It can be. But she is a fanatical soldier, the only thing she has ever known was war and death. She acts the way she acts, because that's the only thing she ever knew. No one has ever shown her compassion or love. This is important as a characterisation and if you want that characterisation to be strong, the initial impression of her can only ever be bad.

I presume there will be mods adding more races, other than that, I'd happily pay for race and subclass DLC's.

​@the_tactician9858 fantastical multiverse adds 54 races and you can get artificer as well through modding.

They have to keep something for bg4 and bg5. And I'm not being snarky, that's reality of this business. Imagine bg4 where they introduce artificers, gnomes and war forge and build the game story around it.

An also decent way to thin the group is, if you have it, use the cat familliar to lure them one by one into a dark corner and murk them there. It's a bit tricky since they tend to walk back quickly when they lose interest in the cat, but it certainly is a way to ammass a decently large body pile!

@@greenumbrella6249 Very easy to handle in turn-based mode though. Summon the cat, immediately go turn-based mode and take care of things.

i've heard that her personal arc is really really good but i do find her initial abrasiveness offputting. im probably not gonna really get to know the deeper layers of her character until ive done a few playthroughs already lol

Her abrasiveness is understandable when you look at it from her perspective: as far as you are all aware you are gonna turn into mindflayers in a matter of days, so she’s no doubt frustrated at all the sidetracking instead of getting to the crèche to be healed. She’s also by far the youngest member of the group, and has never experienced life or people outside of her dogmatic cultish society. Meeting you is literally her first experience with the rest of the world. It makes sense that she starts off as she does, and it makes it all the more rewarding as she learns and grows as a person to the point she truly cares about all of you. It’s a bit saddening people don’t give these characters a chance just because they aren’t besties with your MC from the getgo, if you overlook any of them you’re missing out on a lot of good content. Each member of the crew is a nuanced fully formed personality with struggles and growth.

@@knockoutroundabout oh yeah, i fully understand why she's so hostile at first. i like that she has an understandable reason for being that way - the material plane is as alien to her as she is to the rest of the party - and i like that you have to consciously put the effort in if you want to push past that and establish a proper bond with her. she's very well written, and it _is_ a tragedy that so many people won't get to see that because the outermost layer to her character is so harsh. (there's also the fact that audiences tend to be way less lenient to female characters who skew towards cruelty or evil than male characters of the same morality but that's its own can of worms)

Permanent see invisibility is an epic boon, but the discomfort to get it is horrendous
