US President Joe Biden has said only the "Lord Almighty" could convince him to end his bid for re-election, as he sat for a rare primetime interview in an effort to calm Democratic concern over his candidacy.
Speaking to ABC News on Friday, Mr Biden also declined to take a cognitive test and make the results public in order to reassure voters he is fit to serve another term.
The 81-year-old once again pushed back on the idea, aired by some Democratic officials and donors, that he should stand aside for a younger alternative following his disastrous debate with Donald Trump last week.

When my father was dying in hospital he had early stage dementia, he couldn’t stand and his legs were covered in ulcers, yet he was still adamant that next year he was going to fly across the other side of the World to my house and put a new roof on it. The doctors told him he was in very bad situation and he was in heart failure but he would tell everyone they said he was getting better and would be out soon. Watching Joe Biden reminds me of my conversations with my dad in complete denial.

I love that the best excuse they were able to come up with for why he performed so poorly at the debate is that he doesn't have dementia, his immune system is just so compromised due to his advanced age that a cold meant he was completely unable to speak coherently or know what was going on for half of it.
