Well now Pilgrim😁I’ll take your advice......Like Mick Jagger said....”I know it’s only rock and roll, but I like it, like it, yes I do”😎

Something becomes classic when it never goes out of style. Bubble gum music didn't last. Disco faded away. Did that band Gwar ever make a hit? Good blues, and its baby rock and roll, are as classic as apple pie ala mode and 57 Chevys. Mick Jagger can keep on rockin' and so should you. Enjoy the good things till your last breath. ❤

I first heard this song on RU-vid a few years ago performed by Blind Willie Johnson back in the 1920s. I always thought Blind Willie truly captured the devastating loss a child feels when he has lost his mother. I may have felt that way because I knew Willie had suffered that fate himself. Not sure what it was, the raspy voice, the vocal warble, a certain pathos maybe? Having lost my own mother to death when I was 9 years old, and having lived here-and-there throughout childhood due to family hardship and instability, I knew Blind Willie’s feeling firsthand. Deeply alone and deeply forlorn. Deep pain. There’s a fine line to walk between respectful song and rocking it up just for fun. I think Joe does a very good job of walking that line of respectful feeling, Clapton’s version is too upbeat for me, but Blind Willie Johnson does it best of all. Ralph Stanley did a great version too. I also like Bob Dylan’s rendition. Joe’s music is one of the loves of my life, and Joe always does a fine job....always love his performances. I can truthfully say that the death of a loving mother is something you never get over exactly…you just get on with life…but that experience of deep childhood loss is always there, and I’m in my late seventies.

Just a suggestion to my favorite rock drummer in my favorite blues/rock band: Anton, although I love that big ol' wooden snare's tone, methinks you'd get a kick out of tuning it up a little bit higher or mayhaps a second snare, shallow and metal for the bright snap that I'll bet you'd love... well anyways I'd love to see/hear what you'd do with it. cheers
