And, if you're aware of that, then we watch boxing for two completely different reasons. And, as much as we're entitled to enjoy the same things in different ways, I find yours a little too dark for my tastes.

@@pearcemark2 you could play that out 100 times, and Peter would sustain lifelong damage in at least 30-40 of them and won't win 1. It was an exhibition bout for a television series, that basically pitted an amateur against one of the greatest SMWs of all time; a man that schooled RJJ for 10 rounds! If you pay attention, you'll see that Joe's holding back the first round and quite frankly looking bored bout it, until he gets the green light to finish the fight. Both corners knew what was happening; the judges knew what's happening; the ref knew; and even the winner of said TV series knew what was going on, because he refused the fight... Yeah, Peter didn't even win The Contender. If you're thinking Joe may get tired, he never did. He threw hands like that until the 12th of his last fight at 36yo. And if you're thinking that Peter could just keep his hands up for 11 rounds. No, that wouldn't have lasted the 2nd round. Because some shots always slip through, and your arms can only sustain so much punishment, before you can no longer raise them.

Bad stoppage. Did not let a story unfold at all and Manfredo was not even rocked. If this was a good stoppage then Ali should have been stopped fighting Foreman

@@chrisg9615 Apples and Oranges. First off, the ropeadope wouldn't've worked on Calzaghep; he doesn't tire. Secondly, Ali was returning, whereas Peter wasn't. Thirdly this was an exhibition bout between a fresh pro vs a hall-of-famer; it was dangerous and stupid from concept. Different era. Different stakes. Different ref. Different promoters... It's just a bad comparison.

Because HBO refused to screen the fight if he never. Joe was supposed to fight his mandatory IBF challenger Robert Stieglitz, from Germany, But he had to drop his IBF title and fight Manfredo instead, or HBO were not interested.

@@erikmurray3661 he broke both his hands early in his career, then multiple times after that, he focused more on just scoring punches towards the end and well as you saw there he can throw them quick

People act like that's all calzaghe throws are soft punches or slaps, but little do they realize he's timing perfectly placed hard punches during those flurries. Not only do the fast punches score points they help establish his rhythm, throw the opponent off their rhythm and create openings for those harder more damaging shots. Ask Jeff Lacy if those punches by calzaghe feel like slaps.

@@bozotheclown666 the idea of manfredo winning was next to nowhere near anything other than a miracle, that being said the stoppage was outrageously bad. Fans paid to see this fight and instead of seeing a calzaghe win in a decent fight the referee just waved it off.

I agree. Bad stoppage. Calzaghe may have been on his way to a victory anyways. But to receive a stoppage win like this. Its pitiful. A gift win for Joe. Ref should have let the fight continue and have allowed more glory for Joe and more excitement for the fans.

most of joes unreconigsed "defences" were the same. The one where hes hitting the cardiff ref and the ref doesnt feel the punches when diving in to stop it prematurely are hilarious.

He was a late replacement I think.

@@royw-g3120 , Manfredo wasn't - Tocker Pudwill was, might be him you're thinking of. Either way, the point stands. Any long-reigning titlist is bound to have the odd patsy on his record here and there, but just happened way too often with Calzaghe.
