They sang that song for 35+ years, and this was probably the most moving performance they did in my opinion. Joe’s cancer was pretty advanced at this stage and Jennifer really dialed it back to make it wonderful.
I didn't know Joe's cancer was advanced here. That sweet, dear man-- I'm sorry he had to endure the pain of lung cancer. He was a magnificent singer, adored him.
There will never ever be another Joe Cocker and Jenifer Warnes. Everything time I listen to this my eyes are full of tears. It's the emotion connection and and how beautiful their voices complement each other.😢
People forget that Warnes sung on 3 songs that won the Academy Award for best song. It was this song and for Norma Rae and Dirty Dancing. She is truly talented.
Ok ,,, I we now see people still use the fictional word “boomer” today . Joe died from lung cancer he smoked a lot and people smoked cigarettes back in the day . Joe cocker was a musical genius a generation of years of musical expression and vocal talent. Joe this ☝️ one is for you . Hope you RIP .
Legendary talent right there. Yes, their voices clearly are not what they once were, but they are in their 70s at this point. Sung with tons of heart. Love it.
Oh, I reckon she is very much carrying the song while at the same time remaining unobtrusive. JW's respect for other singers and embellishments to support them is remarkable, to be sure.
I think she sounds great, I don’t know what you’re talking about. And his voice sounds good, considering he was almost 40 years older than the first time he sang it.
A remarkable performance. Please remember 35 years later they are still on stage performing-we all age-and Joe had lung cancer so a lot was adjusted to bring this together.
Jennifer Warnes always looked like a college professor, never a hollywood entertainer. I like how she never made it about her appearance. That would have just been a distraction. She was all about the music. A very serious vocalist. Deep respect for her♥
I remember when she had her first radio hit, "Right Time Of The Night." Many people thought they were hearing Linda Ronstadt. But everyone soon learned Jennifer's name, and remembered it.
Watch the version from 1992 and watch how Jennifer looks at Joe and around 3:11 her expression is epic then at 3:31 Joe looks at Jennifer and hand motions "let it rip" its epic.
Very touching to see two legends still able to deliver after decades-long careers. Rest in peace Joe Cocker, you sang the soundtrack of many lives. Thank you.
Joe was a legend, but that pretty gal right there has one of the most beautiful voices ever! She has added so much to the music of others with her in the background. Jennifer's voice is so easy on the ears... amazing really...
This was hard!! They had performed this duet many, many times and knew that as Joe was so ill this would probably be the last. I think the emotion got to them, but what the hell. The memories will always be there.....God bless them and God bless the music.
Joe Cocker played at our church in Savannah, GA. I went to church and out came Joe Cocker and his band. He played all his hits! He was Wonderful! A real man with real talent!
I'm in tears, can't help it. I can feel the years of pain, struggling and the condition he was in. You did great Joe...rest well and thank you for the immensed talent you shared to the whole world.
Older, singing a much slower tempo but works. Cocker styles it for this version in his unique way. Warnes uses her range to compliment him. A very soulful version that delivers.
This was a great performance! Jennifer Warnes still looks very beautiful after all these years! Rest In Peace Joe Cocker! You were a wonderful iconic singer and you will be very dearly missed by those of us on Earth that you've left behind who love you! ~Dutch
I am very grateful to God for being born at that time and experiencing this poetry, this work of art, which I still cherish with love in the depths of my heart .... Feb / 2021
There is something in them that makes me watch almost every video of them in different places and versions of this song here in RU-vid. Jennifer's affectionate vision on Joe says it all. They're preserved forever. 😊
This is a wonderful song due to Jennifer & Joe singing it. You can tell in this video and other ones with them singing this, that she has admiration & great respect for Joe. ❤ I love how they got a standing ovation. ❤
When I heard this song for the first was in 1982 or '83. Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes were remarkable voices of that great age of music. Greetings from Brazil

Great people, great performance, great song! listened to song on Walkman cassette while working land on a farm Ronald Reagan visited in 1980! What memories, thank you Jennifer and Joe!
I seriously thought I had the slow playback speed on. This was still great and they should be proud they can still belt it out. I bow and applaud again.
To me it shows the briefness of life, when you watch this duo from say 25 years ago and here Joe in his last days sadly but still giving it his all and now gone into eternity.
This was our wedding song.6/15/83. 40 years in June. Wasn’t easy at times but we’re so glad we pushed thru all of it. PS after this long, you truly know what your mate is thinking and you can finish each other’s sentences. Truly you become one spirit. Love is really all there is. ❤️✝️❤️
Que lindo, eu tinha 8 anos de idade, vendia salgados pela rua e com o meu primeiro pagamento, comprei uma fita k7 que tinha essa canção. Hoje, com 39 anos eu ainda sinto a mesma emoção quando a ouço.
Omg!!! What a performance, what can you say just pure magic, A timeless song from two timeless performers. For being in their 70s Joe and Jennifer are legendary, this song brings back so many fond and cherished memories for me. RIP joe you are truly missed we will see you in heaven real soon brother, and you truly are where the eagles fly on a mountain high, God bless you my brother just fly.😪❤️🌹
Well, in a roundabout way, I can understand why some people wouldn't be enthralled by it. It's different than the studio version they recorded (BTW, speaking of which, they recorded their parts for the movie soundtrack separately), and a lot of people are so used to movie soundtrack or album versions of songs that they can't bring themselves to listen to versions that deviate from the "original".
Those first notes reminded me of my mother. I’m an 84 model and she’s a 57 model. Let’s just say as the Footy boy, I had no escaping the yearly musical at school. Forever grateful for having these loving voice and songs in my life growing up. My father was an officer of the Australian Fire Brigade so we had privilege of being brought up with these tunes. Dad shattered glasses where as mum made you stand and get grooving. Music should always be in children’s lives, especially a family home! Brings out the confidence in ones self without even knowing it
