In 1981, Joe Delaney,a poor man from Haughton, Louisiana, who could run 100 yards in 9.4 seconds was drafted in the second round by the Kansas City Chiefs. Joe was their star running back, leading the Chiefs to their first winning season in ten years. He was 1981’s rookie of the year, started in the Pro Bowl, set four franchise records and was voted team MVP. Joe was also a generous and humble man who cared about the needs of others before himself. This is the story of his life, and heroic death, attempting to save the lives of three drowning boys.
