This video part took a while to make, and it's the first full video part I've had since more than 20 years ago when i still in high school. A lot of the footage is from trips I went on with Santa Cruz Skateboards, Krux Trucks, and other NHS, Inc brands, and is mostly me doing something as fast as i can while the real skateboarders warm up and figure out what tricks they want me to film. In some ways, that actually made it quite fun, and way less pressure-packed. It's like, "Ok, I know I have 10-15 minutes to try to get something, and if I don't get it- Oh well, at least I tried!".
Some of the footage was not like that however, and the last trick is a prime example. I've wanted to do a frontside heel flip manual on something for a looong time, and I filmed this one a week before the video deadline. I went to the spot, set my cameras up on a tripod, and literally tried the trick for 3 STRAIGHT HOURS before finally getting it and rolling away. I almost gave up so many times, and I'm so thankful I didn't. The feeling of rolling away was pure exuberance that I can still tap into this very day, as cheesy as that may sound. I think had I given up, I would've been equally as disappointed as I was jubilant after the make.
Any way, I'd love to make another video part, and hopefully the next one won't take me 20+ years to make, but I guess time will tell!
Thanks everyone, and I am hoping to get another Diggin In The Tapes edit released sometime soon.
