i could actually picture conor coming on this podcast and it being how it always is where people shit on a certain guy cause they never take in what he says. but then bring conor to speak in a serious setting and the same people talking shit are like "conor is actually a chill guy, he should always be like this". lol happens to loads of famous ppl 😂 not a connor fan btw.
@@jackbob99morgan3 shit he had 2 years for the biggest mma fight of his life and look what happened. 😂 These people can't except that Conor is not that good.
That's not how it works, the fight wasn't confirmed until a few months ago. They don't start training for the fight until it's confirmed. He actually had quite little time by UFC standards. Not only that, but anyone with a brain assumed Khabib would win that fight. He is the absolute perfect match up to beat Conor.
My dad is a 5'5" Hmong guy and I'm 5'9". Back in my teenage years we sparred. He gave me a muy Thai leg kick as I gave him a Tae Kwon do leg kick. My ass clinched him so he couldn't see me in pain lol. Before the clinch he was walking forward and I was backing up with my back leg dead asf. Before he passed away I always tell him that story and we laugh.
@@Paul-sl9zm while other men look at your mom, sister, wife in lust and they fantasise about doing horrendous stuff to them allah has protected us from all the things you are oblivious of
BPBrutalPenguin that is what I was thinking about. So nvm what I said lol I didn’t even know there was another mcgregor thing coming out. How stupid lol
@Chokwe yeah people should watch the documentary of how Conor got to where he is. It's very good. He really cares about you his family and seems like a great guy. Just like the video where Conor stopped at his fans house in Vegas, super cool dude
Conor's ability to sell himself and his fights is just beyond comprehension for most. They just can't figure it out. A young man who just got the buzz of the media, decides to fight Mayweather and he GETS IT right away. Now he is so rich and here we are talking about him. Sell his own Champagne and shit. Can you believe that? Khabib is just basically doing what Conor was doing, but in a different approach to attract different fans that doesn't like Conor's way. Look at Khabib now calling out Mayweather. The pattern, man. HAHA This is Mac's way! Ridiculous! :D These fighters are businessmen with very high level of respect due to mma's nature. Do you really think that Khabib and Conor's beef is 100% real? Come'on. UFC today is a WWE with real fighting competition in the stage. To be a good businessman/ fighter is to sell your self, sell your fight, make people watch, the more the viewers, the more witness, the more relevant the phenomenons are. You make UFC happy because you make them stay in the game, they'll pay you more. Even if it is not UFC. Producers will definitely chase you around to get you on their team. Look at 50 cent now tryin to get Khabib :) #business
This is where rogan needs to discuss conors cardio issues, conor literally get tired after 2 rounds in every fight, so floyd got really lucky that conor has cardio issues, because conor was easily outboxing floyd first 3 to 4 rounds until he got tired lol, I mean even logan slapped floyd around 🤣 floyd is overhyped sometimes
@@izzy5333 Hey man, I've got a hot scoop. I have the name and a brief synopsis of the 4th avengers movie, it's called "The Avengers: Rise of the Leather Daddies". Having easily defeated Thanos by suffocating him with a baby's diaper full of diarrhoea, the Avengers face their greatest threat yet, a gurning hoard of sexually dominant homosexual men, all of whom are clad in leather.
pistol pete no he didn’t dodge it he said there was celebrity’s there and there’s a documentary with EVERY round in it, there’s a flock of ignorant mcgregor haters arising after khabib dominated him.
Floyd is smart. During the first couple rounds McGregor team was like "hey we're doing pretty good".....but about round 4 they were like "hey what the fuck is going on here"? "We're throwing most of the punches, but Conor is the one that looks beat" 😆
What was the deal with the grabbing from the back/buttramming all about though ?? Like just to get those weak ass rabbit punches in or what? Ohh just to get some rest, like in clinches huh
100%. He definitely thought he could. Then I’d say about round 5/6 when the ref kept breaking stuff up and he was getting more winded he knew that he wasn’t prepared for that kind of animal. But after the first 2-3 rounds, he 1000% was thinking he had it in the bag haha
I cannot stress enough how PURE CLASS this man is! As a coach, he doesn't want to sell out his fighter (Conor) in regards to the Paulie Sparring, and the evaluation of the Mayweather fight. As a fighting enthusiast, not just an MMA guy, but a boxing guy as well, he is able to be humble and talk intelligently about the fight, and the differences about boxing and MMA. You heard it from him too: Floyd's defense is so fascinating and entertaining... I will be referencing this video the next time someone calls Floyd a pussy because "He just plays defense" As an amateur boxer, in my city, most gyms were combination MMA and Boxing although I think the trend has separated recently. And I can tell you, as a very rookie boxer (no more than 2 months of training) I was already more comfortable in a boxing match than an MMA fighter who had been either strictly Kick Boxing, or MMA (no real formal boxing training) for years. MMA vs Boxing are absolutely two different animals. I know some people without knowledge are watching the two sports and thinking they CAN'T be that different, but trust me they are. And just so we're clear, those same MMA fighters who got in the ring with me, would absolutely demolish me with one move in an MMA match. No question. MMA fighters (in my experience) are much stronger. Of course much more versatile in fighting styles. But boxers tend to be more agile, and have better cardio. If you listen to this guy, he's saying the same thing. Conor going for big shots, Mayweather biding his time. Anyone who sits there and says "well he went such and such rounds against the best in the world." You have to understand, it was all strategy. It was a plan. If Mayweather thought his best chance to win was a 1st round KO, he would have gone for it, and he would have got it, but he knew, like I knew even as a relatively new boxer, that it's about using your defensive skills, foot work, and cardio to beat the bigger and stronger man. Dragging them into the deep water, making them uncomfortable, therefore susceptible to punishment and mistakes. Conor lasted as long as he did because Floyd let him. It wasn't because Conor was some sort of boxing wizard. This is probably the only topic I hate listening to Rogan drone on about. As much as he loves boxing and MMA when he talks about this particular fight, his bias really shows, which I get, but find annoying. He's so quick to praise Conor, and so quick to say Mayweather would be crushed in an MMA fight. Which is TRUE! He would! But last time I checked, Mayweather wasn't running around saying he'd choke out Conor or any other UFC fighter, remember, it was Conor (no doubt to cause hype) who talked trash about boxing. Not even Conor really bothered me, it was the disrespectful MMA fans, who had clearly never stepped into a ring or an octagon annoyingly guaranteeing a Conor KO that bothered me. Not Conor. Not even the fight itself. It was the lack of respect that boxing was being shown that really really bothered me. Sorry for the rant LOL
@James Tyler Nope, McGregor can fight Mayweather 1000 times and he will lose 1000 times. If Mayweather was younger he would have probably put McGregor in a stretcher. There's no way you can spin this.
@@Theanomaly369 lol please...first of all khabibs from russia, not wales. So the whole 'fucking goats' thing makes no sense as a pathetic racist insult. Secondly, what's Conor going to do in a rematch? He won't suddenly become an elite grappler. Khabib took his ass down with ease. Conor showed no resistance. No uppercut, no knees, no nothing. His best strike was an illegal knee on the ground. He got outstruck by Khabib. Sit the fuck down.
whats wales got to do with it? and for the record its sheep not goats you fucking idiot if you are going to insult a country at least know what you are talking about you absolute fool, its not racist its discrimination and labeling. Racism is to do with race last time i checked russian is a nationality not a race.
MunchingPickle Yeh I think Connor was feeling high in a pedestal because he was really winning in UFC so maybe he thought Khabib would be easy work and well, it turned out to be other story...
no he wasnt . paulie was a world class boxer. he had to be because he makes floyd look like mike tyson. thats how little power paulie has. yet he was a two time world champion i believe
This guy is one of the coolest people ever. He is also really smart and calculated. He went around most of the questions about Connor and Paul's fight, giving enough answers to make us wanna listen but nothing to suggest his guy mopped the floor with Paul. A sensible classy dude!
Mayweather just stood their and allow him to do what he wanted because he didn't respect his skill or power. when have you ever seen mayweather fight like that.
@Backcountry Enthusiast No...... the OP is correct. He is also forgetting that was Mayweather first half.of.his career. Maywdtaher lit dudes up first half and didnt use philly shell. People not understanding what happened with Floyds style dont understand boxing. Floyd used Philly Shell...... him walking forward was purposeful. It eliminates Conors ability to control the distance. And it is a mental game with Conor. That tick tock tick tock im still here. Tick tock tick tock. O your queit. Tick tock tick tock. O your tired now. Tick tock. Pop tick pop. Pop pop pop. It screws with your head and especially as you get tired.
You’re right I have never seen Floyd turn his back on and opponent intentionally, duck forward put his gloves against both sides of his head and push his ass out into his opponents hip , He took advantage of McGregor’s lack of experience with boxing it was an ingenious strategy but I found it gross and ugly. If that was a seasoned box or he would’ve tore his body apart but McGregor naturally saw his opponents back and instantly clenched and tried to hammer fist and then after getting a warning clenched and tried to spin him around which completely tired him out. And if you mean stood there, no he didn’t I have never seen Floyd use the complete orthodox turtle shield arms to the temple elbows in, usually he has one hand up one hand down that’s when he fights actual boxers and he continuously circles the ring, so yes he wanted to exchange and make the flight exciting and put on a performance against an amateur in boxing but fact is he used the most defensive guard that he never uses, that guard is specifically to absorb powers shots so with all due respect you don’t know what you’re talking about. Connor was overzealous and beaten by the greatest boxer of our era arguably of all time, but the people that think he was carried is completely ludicrous. Because in order for a fighter to carry his opponent that means that he can end the fight whenever he wants, ergo if he wanted to he could knock him out in the first round (there is a reason that he completely turtles, utilized a guard he never uses forsix rounds and over three rounds only threw six punches)… No it is incontrovertible that Mayweather had to utilize a tactic, tire McGregor out and then take him apart and even when McGregor couldn’t even bring his arms up he was so tired and Mayweather teed off on him for a solid 30 seconds he didn’t come anywhere near dropping, and in the post fight interview right in the ring his words were enunciated properly he was not concussed He was not wobbling he was exhausted but he was not concussed in anyway shape or form. Finally what makes this incontrovertible is Mayweather has stated in an interview on ESPN the reason that he is better than all of the other greats in boxing, is because he does not get hit… Look it up. There is no way shape or form that he intentionally allowed an amateur to hit him that is just delusional ignorance. And most importantly Mayweather is a businessman, understand that a nine figure paycheque is beautiful but more popularity more renown leads to an athlete being a better market worth: long-term that leads to much more money even when you are completely retired and in old age. If Mayweather were to have knocked McGregor out cold in the first or second round his market worse as a commercial entity would have gone to unprecedented levels, there would be no one comparable, Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, etc. but that was not a physical possibility karma which is why we saw him utilize a extremely defensive tactic which is incontrovertibly not what a fighter that carries his opponent does, and then start to open up once McGregor was completely exhausted and still he could not put him out cold if the rest let it keep going it is highly probable that McGregor would have hit the canvas and got a 10 second countdown, like he wanted, which he was able to enunciate clearly right after he was “TKO’d”. Look at flyers that are hurt from head trauma whether it’s boxing or MMA, but in particular boxing because head trauma is even more prevalent in boxing actually, they wobble, they cannot talk clearly if at all and when they are in the middle of being hit brought to that point their head is pushed down towards the canvas by the punches because their neck and core goes Limp due to trauma, with McGregor his head kept coming back up and never went down low towards the canvas you can go back and watch it.
@Backcountry Enthusiast ahhh my bad. I see what your saying know. I thought you were someone saying it was all fixed. My bad man. Someone in either this thread or one i read under this vid elsewhere was talking about the ref being paid off, i thought thats what u were getting at initially
Crazy respect to Conor for doing 10 weeks of training and fighting the best to do it! That’s crazy if you think about it. That’s like me going and golfing for 10 weeks and going head to head with Tiger
Yes and No. Sure he trash talked Khabib ahead of time but Khabib was the one who acted like a gangster after because his feelings got hurt. Both camps have their faults, Conor with the bus incident and Khabib after he won.
a big thing that a lot of people overlook also is yes artem did pretty much start it with the trash talk but khabib did corner him with like 8 other guys
Conor would have had to fight him regardless, conor was looking to transition to that weight indefinitely..fk it tho shit happens they'll have rematch in russia next year n connor will knock him out lol he cant perform any worse than Saturday in next fight
@Shawn Lattimore Naww, Connor did boxing before MMA. But keep sippin' that cool aid, even Khabib knocked him down standing. Floyd is 40 yrs old with nothing to prove and he's never claimed he could beat mma fighters.
@UCqJupSf1_DI4nu4FYk6yofA Pertaining to what me, my statement or are you asking to make a pass in which case no im straight. If you're just confused this was posted about the Connor vs Floyd fight.
Really comes across as a decent down to earth guy. Doing us Irish proud! Very enjoyable podcast and you can see it's a really effortless interview for Joe like he has known him for years!
Only 10 weeks to train, promotions felt like it was months especially due to it being a media world tour. The genius of Mayweather, Leonard and Sr to Not let Connor train too long and get well adapted, still do the media circus and in less than 75 days make 300 Mil plus.
Sean Riley Conor could of had 20 weeks. He still would of lost. Idiot. Floyd has been boxing since he was a kid. Conor can’t throw a punch like a boxer. You don’t learn that sweet technique in weeks... same as a Muay Thai fighter learning how to eat/check leg kicks. It takes time
@Simba Simba I Not Making excuses Floyd belongs on Boxing’s Mount Rushmore. He will always be in the convo for best ever and yes I saw Conor got KOd tonight lol
Respect to Kavanagh. It takes a level headed guy to tone down a reckless one - Such a weird clash of personalities. Like he said himself, it's a 'weird dynamic'.
Conor said he was boxing and training for Mayweather long before the fight was actually announced. There's video's of Conor boxing saying he wanted Mayweather and training for boxing for Mayweather months before that. So to be fair, Conor was working on boxing well before this 10 week period.
Of course not. Which is exactly why Conor had no place in the ring with him. It was a money grab, but Conor never had a chance. It wouldn't have even gone as long as it did if Mayweather didn't string him along so people at least got some of their money's worth. Conor could train for two years and he still would have been beat badly.
Makers Mike straight up they did not belong in there with Floyd. His coach sounds like he was star struck and that means they didn’t come to win they came for a payday and for the hell of it
Like Floyd Mayweather said, "once i beat a fighter, mentally, he is never the same." it's been a spiraling downfall from the bus incident to the khabib fight, ever since.
I doubt that happened because Conor knew he''ll lose against Floyd. All the bus and other shit related to Khabib are just his idiotic childish way of trying to get as more attention as possible so the payday would be bigger.
Thats not it at all. Connor started going off the deep end from money and not too mention he has his own whiskey to stand behind which means lots of partying. Hes not hungry like he use to be and it shows. This is off topic but the connor that fought in the 2nd nate diaz fight would drop khabib. Focused and a bit humbled is the trick.
@@justinadams583 his name is Conor McGregor. He gets to chose u moron. Just like he already made it known. He wants a rematch and he'll get the immediate rematch. Just like he just chose. NOW who's the casual?
He's not getting a re-match. He'll be lucky if he gets to fight Tony and after another loss he'll have to take what they give him. Wake up, Conor isn't the champ.
It honestly sounds like Conor looked only half-decent at best against Paulie and the footage was very unflattering. They've been keeping the footage concealed for more than a year for a reason. McGregor is a master self-promoter. He knows what he's doing.
Great personal tip... I had numbness in my left hand and a pinched nerve in my bicep and shoulder for 7 yrs!! It hurt my neck as well. To fix it I took a long broom handle and put it between my legs and crossed them while standing. Then I put my bicep 💪🏽 on top and pulled it down with my other arm. Digs super deep in the muscle and fixed my pinched nerve. Even put it under your arm pit and do acupressure. It's a life saver. No other method will apply that type of force or angle.
I think Conor might have had a chuckle himself, millions and millions of dollars for approximately a half an hours work with practicality zero chance of any real damage. Conor knew he wasn't gonna win but he done an excellent job hyping the fight and actually convinced millions of people that he could win.
Yeah it’s complete madness never seen Floyd smiling and joking with his corner between rounds so much if you couldn’t tell Floyd carried him to let the public think they got there money’s worth , he could have ended it any time from the first round , don’t be stupid people it was chalk and cheese
Yeah people that have never boxed think the boxer will just stand there and get kicked , trust me in the street or anywhere a good boxer would maim someone that punches from stupid angles with no real power , watch the way a boxer punches its totally different to someone that rolls around on the ground like a drunk outside a pub
@@leonidastsouris2557, fairly sure conor would finish Floyd in 30 to 40 seconds, maybe less. Why do you think the fight was boxing and not mma? You are aware a kick is more than 5 times the power of a punch.
The walrus was Paul o you idiots gotta stop talking to me the reason it was boxing is because nobody would be making the hundreds of millions on Ppv to watch to people rolling on the floor like two drunks outside a pub , face it mma does not attract the money of boxing don’t be a moron and argue that point .
I can't wait to see Conor back to his former glory. You could see that something wasn't the way it should have been with working up to, and getting into the fight with Khabib. There was hesitation, and it didn't feel as if he was as sure of himself as he was earlier. He looked tired. I hate saying that, but he did look tired. I love him though, still. I just wish he could put himself into it 110% again. But it's hard being a father, all of a sudden you have things to worry about a lot more.
Love how he continues to try and cut off Conner in order to get him to go enjoy life with his wife and kids In aother interview he talks about how he told Connor "I won't work with you unless you give me a good reason too" Beautiful respect for the craft, his fighter and his family
Yes, but....in the end he still took the job and cashed that check. It was all talk. Money is all that matters. And if Conor told him he was doing a naked death match knife fight in Manilla for 150 million dollars Kavanagh would be there with bells on to watch Conor die in the rings.
8:36 Don't you think the "pace yourself" conversation would have been a foundational one at the very beginning of that paltry 10 weeks? Regardless, though, I think endurance is McGregor's Achille's heel. He still put on a great show!
