Exactly why I like it. I’m not a Rogan simp, I’m a people watcher. Since I was young I’ve always loved autobiographies, and non fiction. So a show like this is great, basically just people watching, but with their minds. Plus I love comedy. But I will say, I’m beginning to get a bit tired of Joe’s default mindset of, the world is going to end, doomsday, etc. and that’s even coming from a prepper, so that’s saying something lol. But like Sam morril nailed it when he was on. Basically talking about someone else while also describing Joe. About the trauma bonding, and that’s how he results to relating to people he doesn’t have a whole lot of common in. Idk but I’m torn on it. Cause ultimately i agree with his belief and mindset. But there is only so Much I wanna hear it repeated over and over. Like everyone sees how messed up everything is, and the constant impending doom. We get it. The only ones that don’t see it are completely ignoring it. Only those two options lol

On the contrary, I do think his jokes are good "whales make that sound" " maybe they are fat mermaids" that was so good. But tbh, I think joe has to let some of them slide because if they just stay stuck on doing jokes, there will talk about nothing. Kinda the same with Mark Normand. Mark always makes the best jokes and so many times, but if they just start laughing and making more jokes, the podcast will go nowhere.

On the pig evolution / morphing topic at 43 minutes or so: I raise purebred Berkshire pigs and have absolutely noticed changes in my animals when I release them from an indoor stage, where they're food is supplied exclusively by me, and outdoor, where they're able to forage a bit more freely in a large yard (supplemented by me). I've kept boars (males), and sows (females) back indoor for whatever reasons, but let their siblings out, and within a week, sometimes it's hard to believe they're related at all , let alone from the same lit. Their attitudes change as well. I move fairly comfortably within the indoor pigs to clean up after them, pet them, do vet care or whatever they need, even when they are expectant mothers about to give birth (they're obviously instinctively a little protective at that time). After that week outdoors... I wouldn't say I'm not comfortable, but there are a few over the years who i make sure I know where they are at all times and I do my best to not turn my back on any of them.

It's crazy that I was watching Matt Rife perform in comedy clubs with crowds of less than 100 just a couple years ago, just seeing clips at first, then watching his RU-vid specials. Now I saw he is performing at Bridgestone in Nashville in like October. Going from around 60 people to 60,000 in a couple of years is mind blowing. Wanted to get a ticket in the front section, 400-600 I think it was. Dude blew up faster than any comedian I know of. It's cool seeing him just talk about how he misses performing in those small clubs though, can't really do crowd work as easily when there are 60k people in front of you and the closest person isn't even within earshot.

I know that some 22-ish years ago, my wife and I lived in our apartment where she found it so very hard to sleep, because she always felt like someone was watching over her; an old man. Even when she was awake, she could sense an old man being in the room with her. Whenever she contacted the office, she found out that, in fact, an old man had died in his sleep in the master bedroom of our apartment. I went through the apartment with my Bible, preaching with the gospel and preaching to the man and letting him know that he had, in fact, passed away and he needed to go on and leave this world and go onto his afterlife. After that, my wife never had any other bad feelings and slept great from that point on the entire rest of the year that we lived in that apartment. I do believe that spirits hang around some places where they do not know that they are passed away yet.

It's interesting to hear Matt talking about insomnia at the start of the video. I've suffered with insomnia for 16 straight years, and I can tell you first hand that it controls your life. It's shaped my whole adult life. I'm a very capable guy, I'm 32 years old, and I left school with ambitions of being phenomenal at whatever I decided to do. I had the natural ability to do anything, physically or mentally. I'm physically very gifted, and academically could pass anything I put my mind to. Now I'm not here to brag about how good I am, but more to explain how insomnia can make all of that invalid. So I've gone down many paths in my life, career wise. Every career path I enter, I was told that I have the ability to go right to the top of the industry. The issue is, I simply CAN'T be reliable. I try my absolute hardest not to let people down, I try to fight my body and just fight through bouts of insomnia day by day, making it through the work day like a zombie for weeks at a time, until my body collapses and I can't take it any more. I need days off to recover. Essentially, inevitably, I end up being too unreliable because of my sleep issues, that I can't be trusted to have good attendance. This has ended EVERY single job I've had. I haven't ever left a job for any other reason. They've all been mutual, and we've agreed that I'm no longer capable of being reliable and on time. The biggest issue is that because I don't sleep, I'll fall asleep at say 4am when I'm starting at 6am. Because I'm absolutely zombied, I end up sleeping in and being late. This is a vicious cycle that's repeated for 16 years. I can NOT stop it. I've tried every single thing possible. There is nothing I haven't tried. So I'll paint a picture of a week in my life, last week, this was my sleep times: Sunday - 0 hrs Mon- 3 hrs Tues - 5 hrs Wed- 0 hrs Thur - 4 hrs Fri - 0 hrs Sat - 5 hrs The week before: Mon - 3 hrs Tues - 2 hrs Wed- 3 hrs Thur - 0 hrs Fri - 6 hrs Sat - 14 hrs Sun - 0 hrs Now, that is a typical fortnight for the last 16 years of my life. This has destroyed my career, broken relationships, broken my confidence, my pride, my name, and my reputation in EVERY walk of life. I'm known as the guy who's full of ability, smart, naturally talented, but "lazy." I can't even begin to explain how much that word gets to me. Whether it's at a sports club, workplace, or family meetings, everyone sees me as lazy and unreliable. This is because when I finally manage to sleep, it's usually at 7 am till maybe 11am/12am, so people think I just sleep all day. As well as obliterating my confidence, it's destroyed any type of ambition I have. I used to be the most ambitious kid you'd ever meet. I was relentless! I would set my mind on something and not stop until I was the best at it. Now, I just tell myself "ahh it's pointless. No matter how good you become at it, you'll ruin it anyway by being late and having days off." I can't go into anything with confidence. I fully believe that everyone else can and will be better than me, because I'll f*ck it up eventually. The worst part is, if you didn't beat yourself up enough already, everyone around you reminds you EVERY single day of what you don't do. They get so frustrated at you (rightly so) for ruining things all the time that they start to become resentful towards you. Digging it into your brain relentlessly that "you're always late, you never get up early to do this, you never do that, I can't rely on you" Even worse, are the comments that are driven into your brain like "your sleeping isn't normal" or "yeah if you done things like a normal person" or "yeah normal people would but you don't." It's like, yeah, I get it love, I'm not normal. I'm shit. I'm useless. Im not a proper man. I'm unreliable. Do you want me to open up my skull so you can sculpt it into my brain? Well.. anyway, my main point was to say, after insatiably studying sleep issues my whole life, it's very apparent that a massive percentage of them were born in our childhoods. Mines was born when I was a kid, 1 of 5 kids, the only one who had a different father. I lived with my mum and step dad, and I was the odd one out with a different dad. Daytime was tough, but I got through it. I managed. At night, however, I went to bed, and I became hyper awake. I was lying in my bed, every night between 7 years old and 14 years old, waiting for the 5th or 6th drink to go down and the violence starting. I'd hear the voices change, and I'd sit there, terrified the next stop was my room. I was terrified for myself, but more terrified for my mum, so every night, I'd prepare myself. I knew it was coming. I knew what was happening, but I had to do it. If the noise of pain wasn't too bad, I'd leave it, I'd stay in my bed hoping that he'd fallen asleep. Nope, it starts again, this time louder, mum pain audibly louder and worse. I had to do something. Could I leave it and hope it stops? No, he's at it again. He might kill her I need to help. So, even terrified for my own safety, I'd have no option but to save her and redirect the attention to myself. So I'd run through and shout, scream, plead, and ultimately get attacked myself. When I finally found the bravery to stop him, I had to endure hours of his rage and attacks. This scenario replayed almost every night for 7 or 8 years. When I went to bed, I got ready for battle. I didn't go to bed to sleep, I went to bed to listen and figure out when I had to save her. So, I left home at 14 years old because of this, and moved around from friend to friends house, grandmother, etc.. and that's where it all started. I realise I went a tad deep there, but it's just to give some type of understanding as to what people with insomnia go through, and why they are the way they are. Fast forward to now, 32 years old, and I still go to bed waiting. I'm listening for people outside, listening to make sure the neighbours are all ok, listening for anyone coming to break in and attack my girlfriend or dog. I lay in bed, eyes pinged open, on high alert, waiting for the inevitable danger. It took me a long time to figure out why I was this way. I went a decade thinking I just preferred nighttime😂 it wasn't until I spoke to a psychologist that they dug a bit deeper and got to the route cause. Anyway, if you've made it this far, I suspect you have insomnia too, and my story is relatable to you. If so, you're not alone, my friend. I understand what you're going through.

@@stuart_edward Thanks, i posted, albeit, a shorter version of what you wrote, having chronic insomnia my whole life. Starting with childhood traumas, where i had recurring nightmares for years and years. I was afraid to even close my eyes. That only got worse (just no more nightmares) over the decades. I have a list of 40 meds that i have tried. I am also in a field of work where i deal a lot with those kind of problems with my clients. I know pharmacology and biochemistry quite well. I have an unfinished degree in psychiatry. I can solve pretty much every case (often with supplements, not even resorting to pharmaceuticals). Just not my own. And I'm in my 40s. No amount of healthy living, drug combos, therapy can solve it. Working out just makes it worse. Kicks my nervous system into overdrive. All those things mentioned in original post might work for mild cases. I just ask people not be ignorant that there's solution to everything or there.
@mikerodotoff5141

@@stuart_edward I lost pretty much every job because of it, where i had to be on time. I would toss and turn for most of the night then my circadian rhytms let me get a good cycle of sleep from 7:30 to 9:00. So i was always late no matter what. Fun fact: a cup of coffee in the morning will completely obliterate my sleep the following night, but if i get up around 4 am (which is down to a minute when i awake most of the times. Even if i went to sleep at 3 am), do my chores, some work, eat breakfast and have a cup of coffee - i can still get to sleep in that timeframe from 7 to 9 and get a good cycle of sleep. Took me decades to figure out that i can't fight my circadian rhytms. Can only adjust around them. Polyphasic sleep was once a solution but not easy to maintain. Also one thing that does work for me in short-term is skipping a night of sleep. I'd just go to a party, dance my ass off for whole night straight, get back home and crash for a few hours. Next 2 nights i sleep like a baby. Research shows that it does wonders for depression (which I don't really have) and energy levels in general. Just staying up one night without sleep would leave me completely wrecked but partying, dancing (and I'd burn around 3000 Kcal during a full night of such activities. I also do it completely sober, not even energy drinks, i stopped drinking years ago because of it's detrimental effects on sleep, never looked back) just makes me feel wonderfull for a few days and lets me sleep.

On the ghost thing. Call me a liar. I am born Romanian. Never spent much time in my own country, due to being dragged to portugal as I was 5. Came back to motherland with my older brothers, we went to visit this castle. Pretty big castle. Walked around it for like 2 and a half hours, and it was fun, getting the story of it and what not, cool place, until, i got to this high tower, my eldest got in first and I was probably, 8 steps behind him. As I put my foot in, just, massive chill down my spine and just overwhelming feeling of, death... i couldnt speak, got icy cold, but my soul took me to this little window, no glass, just missing the Stones to make it like a window, and as soon as I looked throught it, I felt like a undescribable painfull feeling in my eye, brain, and back of the head? So I felt like an arrow had hit me in the eye, and I had died there in a previous life? No bs I was white pale ( after being sunburned for 2 weeks, nicely tanned) my brother asked me, like what you on? You good? All I said was, " kind of, but I died here before" .... I don't know what how to explain it more. But it just... there is definitely a ... sense to the madness?
