I love a plant based diet, but get off the organic BS. There’s tons of evidence on the benefits of eating vegetables and almost none supporting the idea those veggies should be organic.
So many judgmental comments on here. Man has overcome incredible odds in his life and raced nearly ten ironmans yet people will still find negative stuff to say smh just keep an open mind and if you don't agree then that's fine. Keep it respectful
Ufh oes You have to admit that trolls can be funny. Not always though. Despite what Joe Rogan fan boys think, the comments are not a place for intellectual debate. It is for people who have too much time on their hands like myself. If I want to read smart opinions the last place I would look is Joe Rogan comment section. I just like to laugh at the stupidity.
Ufh oes John also used to be a junky as well .. I have a lot of respect for John .. I am personally not a vegan by any means but also I believe we should all be able to do and eat what we want
that doesn't mean he should get a free pass for disseminating bullshit on every show he appears on. i don't care about the vegan thing but the guy is batshit
T Eye lmao. Dr greger looks an unhealthy 60 and is 45. Vegan diet is a joke. It STEADILY weakens you over time. You NEED to eat dead animals to survive. Sorry. Complain to god not me
Jake Dean, he can't just sit there citing all the books and people he's been learning from for 40 years during an interview. If you want the same information just watch, What the Health or Food choices. Both on Netflix
jjbrown16 right! Like since when was reading seen as bad thing? That's how you learn. Here's the thing, some people like to throw around "parroting" as an insult or to degrade what someone is saying. Yes, some people do just parrot what they have read but, the difference is that those people don't understand what they have read, and just believe it without proof.
Don’t know if this was already addressed in the comments but the vast majority of fruits and vegetables we get from the grocery store are not GMO’s. They are hybridized through cross pollination, which is a completely natural process.
Wonderful guy and a legitimate steadfast athlete. We went to the same Crunch gym on Lafayette, Street. He worked out harder than anyone else there. Took part in many Ironman competitions and has kept his body and mind healthy over the years. Not easy for someone in the music industry. I remember he told me that he rode his bike to Montauk from Manhattan, just for the day out.
John is such a cool guy! I'm vegan of 5 years and will never be going back to exploiting animals, ever! love you guys both but John especially such an inspiration! he is such a kind, caring, strong, inspiring man!

This is a great discussion, well done to Joe for having a vegan tri athlete on the show and being so open and down to Earth. Really nice to see John Joseph again and very healthy, great guy. I remember watching his vegan lasagna recipe video and it's got some wicked humour in it like the one about the nut cheese... Cheese that's nut based not when you don't wash your nuts for ages 😋
jjbrown16 I haven’t taken a single supplement. Been vegan for years now and I’ve been competing in long distance running events. Please tell me what I’ve been doing wrong with all of your undeniable wisdom.
That would actually challenge Joe’s ideas so I don’t think he’ll have him on. He’ll have on Dr Baker but not legit science based doctors who are healing people prescribing plant based diets.
J S I mean evidence for his steroid use. Do they test in his sport? How many times has he tested positive? Or are you just leveling an accusation because your point of view is challenged by a vegan strong man? If you provide evidence then I’ll adjust my opinion. Also, if everyone in his sport dopes then your point is also moot, I’m sure you would agree on that.
John naaz Who was I waterboarding? Bad ad hominem. And most people talk about there diet, food shows are huge now and most of them sport, you guessed it, meat. Even Epic Meal Time, which is fun to watch, is based around bacon. You have a lot of anger in you.
Jack Skeletor that’s great that it works for you (assuming your 100% free of chronic/degenerative disease). If you ever get chronic health problems, be sure you can fix it by changing your diet 😉
John Loki I'm actually very healthy, besides cluster headaches which would get worse with eating dairy and processed meats. And most of the time people are suggested to eat less meat and dairy to fix health issues so you can use that incase you need too.
Stop hating on Joe Rogan. He is the only person giving vegans, carnivores, and all diets a place to speak their mind. I don't with agree with almost anything Rogan says, but he is undoubtedly one of the most influencial people talking about diets to a non-mainstream cable television audience. Joe has a point of view different than any vegan! He has so much potential for bringing healthy lifestyles to the masses. For the sake of us all Do NOT push him away from vegans!
He is biased and he's even a hunter, usually when he bring carnists like Shawn Baker in his podcast he never even mention their bloodwoork (Shawn Baker is prediabetic for example and in the video they talk about bad sides like testosterone and that's it)
I love that they can find common ground and have a civil discussion. If we could all do that (vegans and non vegans) the world would be a better place.
Alfie Armstrong as a Vegan I agree, but that’s not the point I was making. YT is rife with carnist vs vegan arguments that amount to nothing but shouting matches and a battle of egos. This discussion in the video however amounted to something more than that.
Promoting Healthy Lifestyles doesn't know the full name of the man he is getting his f****** food from that's food for thought face value it's kind of funny but John Joseph mad respect
I’ve been following Rich Roll and John Joseph recently. Although I don’t go whole food plant based yet, I appreciate their philosophy-not just about nutrition, but about life. Joseph’s life story is truly remarkable as well.
Been eating meat hardcore my whole life. Not sure if I’m just going to go cold turkey or what, but I know I’ll be vegetarian or vegan within the next 1-3 years. Technically could tomorrow though.
This nutrient obsession is misplaced. 1) Organically-grown plants are more nutritionally dense because the bacteria in organic matter dissolves nutrients in soil and makes them bio-available. We do not have a lack of "nutrients in soil." Nutrients are trapped in rock powder. We have a lack of topsoil due to erosion, annual planting, and clearing fields of organic debris, and a lack of microbial activity, both of which can be overcome fairly quickly, at least on a small scale (ie backyard garden). 2) The more important issue is calories and macronutrients. Indians and Chinese have been healthy and slim for thousands of years eating a shitload of rice. Starches have enough calories, and the correct fat/protein/carb ratio for the human body. Vegetables are of secondary importance. You can literally live on nothing but potatoes, but you can not live on nutritionally perfect broccoli. Rogan is inventing an excuse for why eating like a carnivorous cat makes sense for an animal built like a small gorilla. Watch "the starch solution" vid by Dr. John McDougall.
I'm skeptical of the soil depletion thing. The studies I have seen don't support any drastic drop in minerals or vitamins. And yeah, vegetables in my opinion are almost like vitamins. Get what you need but there is no point in eating 1500 calories of kale and carrots.
Yeah, topsoil depletion and soil erosion are real issues - that's what led to the dustbowl. Cheap land, low grain prices, and people strip-mined the land for too many years. It's not a problem that can be fixed overnight, but it can be fixed with better farming methods. Basically, we should be composting on an industrial scale, growing less corn & soy and more food, encouraging smaller, more diverse farms via price protections, etc. The problem has never been "mineral depletion". The minerals go from the surface down to the magma. We just need a healthy layer of living, organic matter at the top to turn the minerals into natural plant food.

In my 20s i got sprayed with straight roundup by accident a person thought it was a water sprayer and i didnt notice then but later that night next day i asked the home owner what it was an for week or 2 i had huge blisters all over my torso then histamines built up and i broke out in rash on my hands an ankles, it was awfull, so that shit is nasty!
Yeah dude if you get that shit on your skin like anything the skin drinks it so to speak and that stuff is toxic af. Just like all the chemicals in shampoos, toothpaste, hair gels, make ups, Cologne, and al the other stuff we put on our skin.
TheObserverGuy nah hes talking about a plant that litetally consumes rats and stuff its real theres a video of it i think they cut it out for relevance and time
Naw, itt didn't fuck me, and it's been 6 years. It didn't fuck millions (MILLIONS) of other people either. Maybe you just did what everyone else does, ate too few calories and then blamed veganism for your own failures, which worked for you since you secretly wanted an excuse to go back to eating animals anyway. James Purcell no b12 , D3, creatine , Cholesterol, dha ,carnosine heme iron . + plants are rich in antinutrients. Im not eating carnivore diet but i bet its healthier than vegan.
@@banginj you don't need heme iron. B12 is a microbe animals are many time supplementing with it. It's extremely easy to get by taking a simple pill once a week. Yo.... Just grab some whole grain bread slices, each slice is 5gram protein or more... Grab some jars of natural organic peanut butter... Make a sandwich with 5tbsp peanut butter, 20 gram protein from peanut butter, 2 whole grain slices, that's 10 gram protein, that's a total of 30 gram protein per sandwich. Eat 6 of them a day, 180gram of super super super fucking high quality protein, as good as milk and soy in amino acid profile. Bombass shit man. Or make some red lentil hummus with no tahini or oil, and spice that shit and eat that, it tastes fucking delicious and super high in protein in low in fat. I personally make myself hummus from 300gram red lentils, that's 72gram protein and 1000kcals, for breakfast, and then I go and eat four peanut butter sandwiches during noon and afternoon, that's 120grams of protein and 1700kcal of protein, and the dinner is usually rice with some type of beautiful chickpea curry and some type of leafy green, that's fucking 1200kcals... And another 40 gram protein. And when I need to gain weight, I just add some oil to my hummus and dinner menu. Easy 500kcals that way. So I have that dinner at around 8pm, then it's some whiskey or beer and cigarette time. So in a nutshell, 4000kcals of high carb low fat foods and 232 grams of protein, this fits perfectly with my daily 10 mile run(or an hour of shadowboxing or sparring), followed by 3 hours of barbell overhead pressing, deadlifting, and finally 300 push ups, 150-200 pull ups and 300 squats done in a circuit fashion for wrapping things up. Got a 300lbs strict press at 220lbs bodyweight, 650lbs conventional deadlift, 19inch arms, and 100 push ups in a row and 50 pull ups in a row.

"what is going on with your nutrient levels" he asks while he only consumes dead animals. Joe Rogan should go completely plant based for 30 days, he's always talking shit about it but has no idea the benefits a plant based diet has on health, performance, longevity, inflammation, etcetera.
@@Robert-rl7rd People claiming they're no longer vegan were never one in the first place. You switch off a temporary diet, you don't ever turn your back on the animals.

The problem with spraying animal waste on crops the bacteria load is causing a problem where you’re getting food poisoning outbreaks from contamination.
If someone made a video with a bunch of different diet practicioners talking about WHAT THEY ALL AGREE IS WRONG WITH THE STANDARD AMERICAN DIET AND THE FOOD SUPPLY ISSUES, PLUS HOW TO EXERCISE BETTER, that would be way more beneficial for the general public.

Although this talk is interesting - a bit speculative - but interesting regardless, this topic should not be the focus if you want to understand how a vegan diet can be healthy and how you can make it work. It's great that Joe is bringing up this discussion of which diet might be the closest to optimal for humans and John's lifestyle is great example of a diet that clearly works - at least for him. However if Joe, after understanding in depth this lifestyle, finds it optimal or not doesn't invalidate veganism altogether. Just as there are many variations to a "conventional", "herbivore" diet or however you want to call it, there are many ways to approach a vegan diet.

Very interesting. I know the strawberry industry, have modified some of their products. Not all of them. But , Botanist and bio engineer’s have a found , that if you include a sequence of Alaskan crabs in a strawberry , the berry DNA. It will develop mechanism , to fight against cold. So you have a stronger strawberry and your crops , can fight against colder seasons and colder soils. It’s hard to understands and hard to explain. But it’s a reality.
Both good guys however ...." Non GMO ,organic, etc. "Sounds great but different story for some people depending on your finances and where you live. I live on the West Coast of Canada. Organic fruits and vegetables are ridiculously expensive. You go to a Health Food Store or a Farmers Market and the prices are insane and a lot of it looks exactly the same as conventional fruits and Vegetables . I don't mind paying 20 or 30 per cent more for Organic but double or triple? Come on. Not realistic to get organic all the time if you are on a budget or have a Family. There are a lot of people taking advantage in the Health Food industry as well. Everyone is after that paper.
Veganism is not for everybody, some people will thrive some will suffer. I am an ex vegan who suffered for 6 months doing everything right, no junk or fake meat. Coming from a healthy stage I decided to go vegan to better my health, it was the worst decision of my life. I felt bloated, had diarrhea, would go to the bathroom 3 times a day, felt joint pain, had a terrible rash, had no energy and 3 infections in this period. I will say it again I was really healthy before I started, no junk food whatsoever and thought I would get better after a month or two but it only got worst. There’s no way I was detoxing because this is not normal to have a detox last 6 months. Never again!! As soon as I decided to go back to eating meat and eggs, more like a keto carnivore everything went away like magic.
Everyone’s different and has their opinions. For me, personally, beef isn’t really needed. I can go out and hunt deer and waterfowl and pheasant. The majority of my diet is 90% plant based. It makes me feel better and more energized. I do still eat meat but not much. I would say whatever works for you and makes you feel healthiest do it.
