Dave Chappelle came to Portland Oregon to do one of the free stand-up comedy routines in the middle of downtown Portland and so many people showed up that he couldn't even make one joke he had to tell everybody to go home because the police in Riot Patrol wouldn't allow it. Which made a huge Riot happen in downtown Portland Oregon because it wouldn't let Dave Chappelle do his stand-up for everybody. I got trapped in that riot and got my arm broken because of so many people mad because of no stand up. ... Crazy shit..
i saw Dave when he did a random pop-up set in Portland OR like 5 yeaRS ago or whatever, my friend texted me and i lived only 6-7 blocks away so i walked down, and there he was with hundreds of people around him at like 10pm on a weekday
That was exactly what I did when I went to Mexico and was on a tourism tour I broke away with my weed pen in hand dabbing it out while I was next to A temple. It was an awesome and fun experience with people need to understand is when your tolerance is high with weed you can take 20 hits of a strong Vape pen and it will not affect you like it would to someone who is not physically used to it.
a-tribe-called-conquest are you kidding me dude? He's done full blown interviews and open discussions with sway and ebro. AND he's done a podcast on Q-Tip's abstract radio - Which by the way, is probably the best podcast of the decade that no one heard of lol, it had Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, Leonardo Dicaprio and Q-tip talking shit for like an hour.
Dave Chappelle shows us all that you don't have to sell your soul to gain the respect of fans. When the man speaks you listen he is right up there with George Carlin
The comparison with George carlin is a very good one, only Chapelle does not have the bitterness and anger the Carlin had and I think it makes him a little funnier
Rick James and Prince... both those skits had me crying, they were so funny! Rick James actually, in the skit himself... very cool! Sadly, none of them are with us any longer. R.I.P.
Yeah I'm pretty sure Dave just uses that vape pen in venues where he is not allowed to smoke cigs. You see in the other specials he is smoking cigs and there is no vape pen in sight.
How does a guy be like that? Easy. Dont let money control you. Dave stuck to what he loves even when it was free. Money is how they keep you in check. You get used to the fancy lifestyle and you get scared of going back to the way things were. But get rid of the fear then all you have ahead of you is life.
And that's why Dave has my upmost respect. He didn't let fame kill his humbleness and heart. That's why everyone was making up bullshit stories like he was on drugs, or went crazy. They weren't used to seeing a celebrity choose integrity over money.
His father was a wise man and told him before he got into showbusiness he had to “name his price” unfortunately for Comedy Central they asked for too much.
That's easy to say, but how many people are capable of that if you put 50 million(and that was in 2006 money) in front of them? Very, very few. I think you're pretty much born like that.
So in a nutshell, Dave Chapelle went into the hyperbolic time chamber and came out as someone who has surpassed the the status of a Super Comedian? An ascended Comedian? Or a Super Comedian 2?
I think he might have absorbed comedian God ki into his base form, so now he just walks around like a low key comedian God that has the power to destroy the universe with a punch.. Metaphorically speaking ofc
The "I'm Rick James bitch" had to be fucking annoying. I wad annoyed by it before the next episode even aired. Couldnt imagine how he felt about it. He had waaaaaay better sketchs with better lines. The fact that the sketch he became most known for wasnt even really a sketch that came from his brain. Had to bother him
Here comes the Joe "im really original cause I'm doing exactly what everyone else is doing just so i can het some likes" Rogan. Come up with something new shit's getting old
Imagine walking through a big ass city and running into Dave Chappelle wearing a fake moustache and holding a box of ribbons. How tripped out would you be?
Jake Shattuck I like spears but he lost my respect he got offended at a White comic's "All Lives Matter" joke calling it "Hate speech" and then went on vlad TV talking about people being offended about everything... When a stand up comic supports any form of censorship then they have lost my respect just a personal philosophy...
As a black man you gotta love Joe, he talks about Dave like he’s really his friend and you can tell it’s genuine! The way he supports him just gives me hope that we can end racism because any white man that can show a black man this much love then we can definitely unite
Rocky Dollaz you’re surprised their friends simply because they are different races? And you are worried about racism in others? May want to look in the mirror chief. This isn’t 1950. The only people I know who make a big deal about a white and black guy being friends are extremely racist whites and extremely racist blacks.
There are a lot of people who just figure out very early that money does not buy happiness. Chappelle was one of them. Once you get ´comfortable´ money, there just is no reason to push and push and do things you hate just for more money.
Dave's vape pen wasn't for cannabis. It was an e-cigarette that kept him from needing to light up a smoke. That venue wasn't ok with cigarettes being smoked on stage like some other ones are. Joe assuming it is for cannabis because Dave is a stoner, but forgets that he is a smoker as well.
Exactly, Joe is so ignorant when it comes to weed but he wants to believe he's an expert. Dave is a heavy cigarette smoker. Most venues will not allow you to smoke a cigarette on stage. Dave was just getting his nicotine fix. Smoking weed on-stage is something an "edgy 420 bro" like Joe would do, not 44 year old Chappelle.
Agreed The Chappelle Show was & is the greatest comedy show to ever exist hard to believe there was only 28 episodes, Each one have iconic sketches, There wasn't one episode that went by the didn't leave me in tears of laughter. Dave is a true genius & one of the few comics unafraid to make offensive comedy
I thought he walked away because of a skit he did where someone laughed at him in a way that he could tell was racist and he thought he was contributing to the racism problem in America. I don’t know he said something like that on Oprah back in the day lol
When comedy central had Dave Chappelle's show on it was when that channel was at it's best. Gone done hill ever since they fucked Dave over on that money.
Matthew Spaghetti they didn’t f Dave over. They poisoned the relationship between Dave and Neal so they wouldn’t have to pay Neal. It backfired and everyone lost
Obviously you have not heard his first two albums..he talks about serous issues in the 00s and before that. Kanye is great with his lyrics don't let his new shit fool you
xHaloxReviewerx117x lmao I have both the college dropout and late registration. I was jus sayin to OP that he isn’t known for his lyrics, but mostly his sampling and production. I didn’t say his lyrics were bad. Early Kanye had great lyrics. Also serious issues doesn’t mean a good lyricist imo.
K OS true you have a point he even says it himself and idk in my opinion he was just using his voice to inform the public something that was not as easy back in the days. But we all get our own opinion
Kanye could actually rap if he wanted to (ex. he outrapped Kendrick Lamar on No Parties in LA), but lyrics are secondary to him and he focuses more on the music
Dave is one of my all time favorite comedians. I have yet to get to see his new special but rhe way that people attacked such an open minded person who has such pure comedy I want to see it that much more.
joe rogan is one genuine and loyal friend. He always has the biggest smile on his face talking about dave Chapelle and never shuts up when he’s brought up lol. i need more friends who talk about me the same way lol
Tirso Martinez. He's addicted to cigarettes, and it makes more sense for him to be getting a nicotine fix during his set than to be secretly smoking weed. If he was getting high, he'd most likely tell the crowd about it/joke about it.
Triscuit H I get that. But considering he smokes regular cigarettes all the time during his sets and that's his preferred way of smoking. Matter of fact he was smoking his cigs in one of the other specials. Normally people smoke one or the other. Not both. Now yeah, people will vape if theyre not allowed to smoke in certain places. But also they put in some dude asking to get a hit. No one asks for a hit of a cigarette. Only weed. And I don't recall the city he was in. Nor the laws on weed, but if its illegal, people will "stealth vape" to hide that they're smoking weed. Regardless, I was only trying to say that its equally possible to be either or but id lean more towards weed. jmo tho.
san eee I think he means good. like genius level. Charlie Parker was a musical genius, one of a kind. Dave's Netflix specials are going to be revered as fucking classics.
Yes, he's gone above and beyond even the best of his peers and has arguably gone beyond the genre of "comedy". More like a Socrates or Nietzsche than a Pryor or Murphy.
na it was because he started feeling like one of the main producers/good friend and other ppl behind the scenes that the sketches was more like they was laughing at him and not with him at alot of the racial stuff he was doing
Dave got away with more than other shows could. Not many sketch shows drop N bombs like dave did. But thats what made it so amazing. Dave needs to be dave.
When you smoke alot of weed you dont gat high like that first hit, every time i smoke after a long break im like a freaking jedi for the first couple hours like iv just witnessed the big bang, but if i smoke the same amount the next day im just chill its a huge difference nothing can compare to a bong with no tolerance but from that point you have to wait a couple days before you hit that revelation high.
Tbh I just assumed Dave's vape pen was a nicotine replacement for all the cigs he used to smoke on stage. I'd feel better if I knew for sure it was weed/wax/extracts/concentrates etc in there instead.
00:44 I ran into Bobcat Goldthwait on a diveboat (SCUBA) that was taking us out a wreck (SS Cormoran II) off the Island of Guam. He was dating Nikki Cox at the time (1999).
