The story behind ‘Changes'
'Changes' is a particularly special song to me. I wrote this one on the evening our twins were born. Due to the COVID restrictions, I was unable to stay at the hospital, I spent a rare night alone reflecting on the miracle that i'd just experienced. Little did I know that was my last full night of sleep lol.
Throughout the pregnancy and leading up to our decision to have children I was petrified. I had no experience of parenting, I worried about the things that could go wrong and I desperately tried to make everything perfect for their arrival. My fears intensified as we got closer to the day and as we walked down to the operating theatre in our surgical gowns, I didn't feel ready.
The delivery was textbook. I was handed the responsibility i'd spent so long fretting about and all my negative thoughts were pushed out, as if there was no space left. I was completely filled with love.
I wanted to make the production fit the sentiment; I used the heartbeat from our ultrasound as the foundations of the song and the backing vocals are done by my wife. It's a real family effort and one i'll always treasure.
We've taken you 'Behind Closed Doors' to record this video of a day in our lives as parents. I think it really captures the beautiful moments of joy and of course the tired eyes.

About me - John Adams
I was born in Aberdare (Wales, United Kingdom), I started life as a Math’s Teacher but took a leap of faith in 2016 to pursue music full time. I busked around the cities of the UK and performed over 150 gigs a year to make the gamble pay off.
