@@hemam.3451 ofc one can say lol. Cause while he is a confident person if you will he is not stupid. He doesn't know what the 2 last questions will be. Why do you think did he do that last show when it was the question. I mean I get that you simply made a joke hinting on what he did last show and I took it literally pointing out that one would ofc not expect him to do that cause there r obvious reasons why he would never do it (and even less when its charity). But that you actually argue in all seriousness now that one couldn't tell is ridiculous lol. Think a bit
@Medellinish
@Medellinish 3 года назад
@@hemam.3451 appearently you are not really aware that "arguing" doesn't necessary mean "to fight", "to quarrel" etc. It means making an ARGUment for a point, arguing in favor of something based on arguments. You said it yourself- "putting your point" - so that's where I said you are arguing that one could have expected that. I simply said no to that lol cause its obvious that he would never have done that. That's all, and I even acknowledged that I took your original comment very literally since ofc I simply saw it as a joking hint to his phone call of the first show. But after you seemed to also argue your point in seriousness I simply expressed my view on that there is no good argument to even think he would have done that and that it was ofc obvious that he didn't do it. And what does my use of the acronym "lol" have to do with any of this? Such a childish way of arguing (I hope you know what is meant by now with that word). How you artificially want to pass the role of the fed up, not-chilled guy to me is also funny.

Yeah, he first won the million without much effort, but the next time, he backed off when he knew he was beat, instead of trying to go any further. In fact, it was even the correct decision, since he didn't trust his brother's answer enough to go for it. If he didn't back off, he would have lost a lot.
@juniormatsuda5116
@juniormatsuda5116 8 лет назад
It is not that he didn't trust his brother's answer, his brother said I would guess Jackie just because who he is, but I wouldn't risk my money on it, so his brother was just guessing, and he was guessing on Lou Gehrig, who, as it was in the video, was the 1st player on a wheaties box. And he said, in the end, that if it was his money he was "stupid enough" to take the chance, but, as it was for charity, he wouldn't do it and he walked away, what was the correct thing to do. It simply amazes me how smart and intelligent this person is. He does it the first time with ease, walks right in and walking right out with 1 million dollar more. Then he comes back and gets up to the last questions again, all for the sake of charity and helping other people. In the end he showed how smart he really was, by knowing when he was beat and backs off. 250k for people in need. That´s stunning. If more people were like this guy, we would have a better world. One of smartest moves I've ever seen. There are couple of reasons that he chose to walked away: 1. He didn't has Lifelines anymore. 2. He thought it's okay to just get $250,000 (half for charity) than he risked it for more (could possibly just won $32,000 if he chose incorrect answer) 3. His brother wasn't sure enough with the answers. 4. He knew Jackie Robinson was the most possible right answer but he said Lou Gehrig to avoid people thinking he shouldn't walked away for more charity rewards. *sorry for my bad english I'm just amaze with his decisions

It's too bad we didn't get to see him take a shot at winning a second million. He and his brother were both leaning toward Jackie Robinson, but then again since there was charity involved as well, I suppose it's understandable if he wasn't sure enough. Losing $109,000 of your own money is one thing, but losing that much for a charity as well would not be good at all.
@TheRealEmLp4ever
@TheRealEmLp4ever 8 лет назад
What do you mean loosing $109 000
@MetalSmasherGaming
@MetalSmasherGaming 8 лет назад
TheRealEmLp4ever He would have lost $218,000 on the $500,000 question if he went for it and got it wrong. But since the champions donated half of their winnings to charity, that means he only got $125,000 of that $250,000, while the other $125,000 went to his charity. So that means of the $218,000 he would have lost, he would have lost $109,000 for himself and $109,000 for his charity.

I remember screaming at the TV Jackie Robinson. Then his brother said Robinson too, and I shouted your brother is right. I wanted Carpenter to win a second million. I only knew it because I'm a big sports fanatic. None the less incredible achievement to win a million then come back and win $250,000. I remember watching two other million dollar winners leave with a $1,000 on the Champions edition so this guy is an absolute beast at trivia. Thank you for the memories John.

Nomater what he played and won to help people through charity. That's really great side of him. This is the era where there was no Google available or any social media. So this man is purely genius. The fact that his brother said the right answer, made it so good, and even worth the walk away. Not everyone can walk away, That was respectable, especially when it's not even his money, Which is the easiest temptation to gamble with someone else's money.
@CST1992
@CST1992 2 года назад
In most cases when it's someone else's money you just don't give a shit and squander it all, but in this case he actually cared about the people getting the money more than himself. If he were the one getting the money he was willing to take the chance, but not if it was them instead. That's the real meaning of family. Not just being born in a particular household or with a particular name.

If playing the call on a good speaker, you could actually set up a direct voice search. So the second he's on the line, he just says clearly "First baseballer on postage stamp", and the answer is there in two seconds. Doesn't work equally well for all kinds of questions though, as some questions aren't as easy to tailor for a google search, but really effective. :)
