Today Riley and I install a new step and tie down hooks for the John Deere 1025R from MuddsCustoms. This new step bolts to the loader mount in less than 10 minutes! The 6" drop reduces the first step height which makes it easier to climb up.
This is the 6" drop that is for the cab tractor. It's longer than normal version.

Hey Brad, Welcome back.. That’s great you made one for your dad. 👍🏼 Sounds like he’s very active, to wear the original and the replacement out. 😁 He should be the test pilot for the company that makes them. If he can wear one out it’s back to the drawing board.. LOL Take Care buddy.

Nice job, I really like your helper Riley. My 2025R gen2 came with a nice LH step. My RH step just arrived from Mudds. I plan to tighten the frame bolts when I have the loader off for the first time. Snap-on and Milwaukee are 2 of my favorite brands.

Hey BG, welcome to the channel and thanks for stopping by.. Oh yes, Riley is my big helper in the garage. 😁 The 2025R is a very nice tractor.. Those steps are handy when you’re climbing on and off all day working on a project. I agree.. Milwaukee and snap-on are my two favorites as well. Very nice tools. Take Care 👍🏼

@@SometimeIsNow Youre welcome sir. Thankya for sharing your video. I wannuh do all kinds of "upgrades" to my little Johnny. The only thing ive actually done so far is extend my throttle lever, my 3-point hitch lever, my 4WD lever, & my PTO engagement lever with a red tipped indicator rod. Still need to do the one below my seat for the back n forth adjustment & also the differential lock pedal on the rear of the floor. I would love to add the chain/strap tiedown hooks & things like that. I enjoy your videos & love your dog. i have a pitbull who absolutely LOVES to ride on my tractor with me. If he dont get to ride on the tractor for whatever "No" reason, then he acts like a little girl, lol. Take care.

@@SometimeIsNow Thankya sir. Ive never had a rottie. Yes ole "Bart" is purty dog gone loyal for sure. He loves people but he absolutely hates other dogs & he just goes freakin PTSD nuts!!! Bart actually belongs to a friend of mine who has been in Albuquerque,NM under the care of the Albuquerque V.A. system. He asked me to promise to take care of Bart if anything bad happened to him(John had a stroke & heart attack). John rescued Bart from a shelter down there. We believe that he was abused & used as bait in dog fighting from his previous owners. Well thats the short story of Bart. But like i said earlier, he loves to ride on my Johnny. He loves his "tractor theropy" just as much as me, lol! I have to lock him down to the tractor though for fear of him bailing off the floorboard & chasing after other dogs, which has happened hence the reason to locking him down. John Deere made to short of movable levers on these little tractors so thats why i extended mine so they would all be within easy, better, reach for me. I would love to add a canvas cab of somekind during the cold winter season. Look forward to more upgrade videos from ya. Tractor safe Sometimes Now.🚜

Why is it necessary to remove the loader before installing the step? Doesn't seem like the step interferes with installation,
@SometimeIsNow
@SometimeIsNow Год назад
Hey Lobster Lou, Thanks for stopping to check out the video. There isn’t a need to remove the loader to install the step. I just did it to take the weight of the loader off the mounting bolts when removing them for the step. You can do what you want, if taking your loader off is a hassle and you feel it’s unnecessary then leave it on. 👍🏼 Take Care and THINK JD GREEN 😁

Hey Rederick, Thanks for stopping by the channel.. The Mudds website muddscustoms.com/products/john-deere-compact-tractor-120-loader-8-step?variant=30313715630216 states the 8” step will not fit if you have a Mid mount mower. Hope this helps. Take care.

How many inches down below the actual platform step where your feet rest on, is the difference in height? If it's only a inch or two from the platform from what it looks like in video, then the mud custom steps wouldn't be worth the price. Great video. Thanks.

Hey NRFA, Thanks for stopping by the channel to check out the video. It’s greatly appreciated. @@NRFA21309 Just a FYI, if you dont have a belly mower on your tractor Mudds offers even lower steps that 5 inch. 👍🏼 5 Inch is as low as they recommend with a mower. I don’t have a belly mower for my tractor but I bought the 5” step because it was in the clearance section marked as blemish. Although I can’t see anything wrong with the paint. 🤷🏼‍♂ Take Care ..

Nice video. One question, where did you get the 223 ft-lb torque spec?
@SometimeIsNow
@SometimeIsNow Год назад
Hey Greg, Thanks for stopping to watch the video. I got the Torque spec from the installation Instructions for the single point bracket which called for 223ft lbs. I installed the single point connection bracket which in the directions called for 223ft lbs so thats what I chose to used for these bolts. All the M16 x 90 loader bolts call for 229ft lbs if you want to go by the loader installation booklet. Here’s a link to the green tractor talk forum and someone posted a copy of the loader directions for the 120 loader. I downloaded it and it’s the same as the paper directions I have. Hope this helps. Hey Tim, Thanks for stopping by the channel to check out the videos. It’s greatly appreciated. Wow.. 45 yrs.. Thats awesome !!! You have a lot of snap-on tools? I have been wrenching for over 36 yrs and I just retired last week. I have worked and supervised in the industrial maintenance field my whole life wrenching on high speed manufacturing equipment. Snap-on tools have served me well over the years, along with Starrett. High speed equipment doesn’t last long if you don’t have attention to detail and the correct tools to maintain it. I don’t buy everything snap-on but I like their digital torque wrenches, torque screwdrivers, soft grip screwdrivers and ratchets. Take Care Tim and stop back.. 👍🏼

Is the LocktiteI just installed the short steps, not long one as yours, and I used Permatex 80632, hope it will do as good as the locktite that you used. Hold on bracket is next.
@SometimeIsNow
@SometimeIsNow 2 месяца назад
Hey PoisonShot, Thank you for stopping to watch the video. So you mentioned the Permatex 80632. This isn’t a threadlocker for securing bolts but a thread sealant for pipe fittings use. There’s no thread locking capabilities with using that type of permatex you used. Look into Permatex Blue Medium Thread Sealant - 24200 www.oreillyauto.com/detail/c/permatex/oil--chemicals---fluids/adhesives---sealants/threadlockers--sealants---compounds/5ff93c9f059a/permatex-6ml-blue-medium-thread-sealant/per0/24200?q=threadlockers%2C+sealants+%26+compounds&pos=0 or Loctite 243 Blue Medium Threadlocker. www.oreillyauto.com/detail/c/loctite/oil--chemicals---fluids/adhesives---sealants/threadlockers--sealants---compounds/5ff93c9f059a/loctite-243-6ml-blue-medium-threadlocker/lct0/1330799?q=threadlockers%2C+sealants+%26+compounds&pos=1 if you want those bolts to stay in place over time. Take Care 👍🏼

@@SometimeIsNow I was skeptical about buying it, but the guy at Autozone insist that it would do the job. I want to buy the locktite, he said that it would make harder for me to remove the boukt in future need. Should've stuck with my guts, not ask and get what I thought was right! So you think I should removed the bolts and cleaned the Permatex and use the locktite or equivalent? Thank you! Happy Mother's day to your mother, and wife, if you have one and kids!
@SometimeIsNow
@SometimeIsNow 2 месяца назад
@@PoisonShot20 Due to the bolts holding the step is the bolts that mount the loader on the tractor, If it were me I would remove one bolt at a time, wipe the bolt off and spray some type of cleaner inside the threads to remove the sealant then apply loctite to each bolt so those bolts don’t come loose. The last thing you need is to have the bolts come loose and you not notice and with a full load have the bolts snap off.. It’s better to be safe than sorry down the road. Thanks, You too. I have both 😀 👍🏼

Click that and you’ll see a drop down window with all the various size steps available. Make sure you read the various step length notes as the bigger steps won’t work if you have a belly mower. (Meaning a 8” drop will hit the mower when its raised. Just watch the description for exact fitment of each size step. Hope this helps. Take care 🤙🏼
