I own a Kubota B2650 (now LX2601) with the BH77 backhoe and the hardest part is definitely getting everything lined up to get started. Anyone that owns their own backhoe should make little wheeled cart to unload and store the BH. All i have to do is roll the BH out of the garage and rolll it into place and the correct position before i even hook up the hydraulics. That simple little cart makes it so much easier. Especially for moving a 900 lb piece of equipment.

In 2014 when I bought my 1024, John Deere thought it was more important to get me a pink hat than have video instructions on how to load and unload this backhoe. This subcompact tractor is mainly meant for acreage owners who may not have any idea of how to drive a tractor or what an fel is or other shortened lingo that John Deere has in their manuals. I had great difficulty attaching this backhoe. Other things that complicated matters include that I did not know how to depressurize hydraulic hoses that increase in Pressure when you leave machinery in the sun and then try to hook it up… So many hours and tears of frustration. Many years later I still dread hooking up the backhoe but I love using it. Thank you for the videos !

Thanks, Courtney, for the helpful video as always - one word of caution to others doing this for the first time: when removing the backhoe, IGNORE STEP 3 of the sticker instructions telling you to Lift Backhoe Seat UP to clear the tractor. If you’re really starting this process with the backhoe seat still deployed, you must be a magician to have driven the tractor to where you wanted to remove the backhoe, or you might be tricked into doing something stupid by your own understanding of the difference between UP and DOWN, and move the backhoe seat into digging position against all other instinct and the process you clearly showed here. As you can imagine, I got out there with my wife after reading the manual, watching this video like five times, and using the checklist, and when I got to that step, right in front of me pasted to the backhoe in black and white, naturally the backhoe seat was folded Down, out of the position it’s in when in use, which I have to argue should be called the Down position, and it was right in my face. “I guess I’d better follow that step and lift it UP out of the way,” I thought, so I moved the yellow seat UP, then lifted the black backhoe seat UP and out of the way, and all went well until we tried to lift the backhoe off the hooks. I gently applied pressure and nothing happened until - BANG! - the neck holding the backhoe seat to the backhoe snapped in half. Needless to say, my wife and I were both as shocked and horrified as Luke and Leia were when they found out they were brother and sister in Star Wars, but we continued to remove the backhoe and found your guidance invaluable as we successfully attached the 3-point gear and the Speeco e-hitch along with a box blade I’d been dying to use since I got the Speeco from you a few weeks ago. Anyway, not the first expensive learning experience that I should have avoided by trusting my memory that never in your video did you lift the backhoe seat up into operating position, and probably not my last - but fortunately it’s a simple bolt-on part that I hope I can find for a reasonable price somewhere and fix myself. Anyway, just a word of caution to other newbies out there who attempt this for the first time: as Obi-wan Kenobi said to Luke: “Trust your feelings”, follow these steps in this video, and don’t let a sticker convince you that down is up.

You need to do more of installing the front and backhoe because I’am a newbie as well.😅

Am I the only one that’s watching this and doesn’t own a tractor that can have a backhoe.

Two things, one over time the hydraulics will bleed off and the backhoe becomes unstable in it's position. Two, if you use the Imatch system you have to remove it to re-attach the backhoe! Now if you could come up with a way to use the Imatch with the backhoe you'd be on to something!

RAISE THE BACK HOE SEAT OR IT WILL GET DESTROYED, Man I wished some one had stressed the importance of and what will happen if you dont do this. Im a newby and on my very first day I destroyed the arm mounted with four bolts to the loader that the seat mounts to, while disconnecting the back hoe for the first time! Raise the seat should be stressed to the max when delivering this to the customer especially the first time tractor owner. Thought Id share. Glad no one got hurt.

Hi Cory. I've been a subscriber for many years. Thanks for sharing your insights. Here's one for your record books. I have a collapsed backhoe. I forgot to lock down the side-to-side movement when removing the backhoe from my JD 2025R (260B backhoe) onto an Bxpanded dolly. Of course, the backhoe collapsed when detached from the tractor. Any insights you might have on how to recover is appreciated.

Guys skip all this and order a stump-wrecker from good works tractor, so useful!!!!!

The absolute hardest part of this is getting the tractor lined up to reinstall the backhoe. I still struggle with that part, but it can be done! Eventually :)

Just a suggestion for minor improvement. At 2:45 to raise the backhoe off the pins, the best way is to further deploy the stabilizers, not the boom. The reason the backhoe sortof "jumped" off the tractor was the boom was lowered instead of using the stabilizers.

So many demos get to the point of taking the BH off then without unhitching the hydraulic feeds and driving away, they say, "Now we'll reattach the unit." I want to see it from point A to B.

Mine is the older model, but, takes me longer, like 10-15 minutes to hook up. Maybe model or maybe me? I love my backhoe!
