I am getting ready to rebuild a 1975 model 830 that my uncle left us. Can't think of a better way to honor a man that lived his life to farm, and to have it working his farm.

I really enjoyed this. Reminds me of my younger years when I tackled such projects all the time. Too old now to do much more than watch others. Nicely done, I hope you enjoy many years of using that rig.

That was a great job. I like how you bagged and tagged the hardware instead of tossing it on the floor or on various ledges. Good tips.

Solid work man. Thanks for chronicling the whole thing. Working up the courage to do a rebuild on my 310D TLB, and this helps immensely!

very good rebuild, goes the same as my Massey Ferguson 1080, with 1085 block, Perkins A4.318 rebuild, no smoke, started first go, no leaks, runs like a clock.

I have just watched your John Deere 2030 rebuild. What fantastic memories it brought back to me. Having started work as 16 year old school leaver in the late 1960s at a John Deere franchise in the UK I worked on and rebuilt many 1020s 2020s 3120s 4010s 4020s and the big 5010/20 series. Now in my late 60s and 47 years on and living in France I am looking to buy and renovate an old tractor. What I would give for it to be a John Deere . Thanks again.

@@sunrise7ranch85 Well tractors are really expensive here in Chile. I should have brought one with me. So I am looking for a JD that needs repair and would like to fix it myself back to new. Thanks. Jim in Chile

I have a 1975 2030 that needs the exact same things done for the same reasons. 41 years and 5400 hours isn't too bad. Mine lopes the same as yours when you first start it. This is a very powerful and excellent sized tractor. I used mine to hay and pull a 6 row no till planter up until a couple of years ago. I am going to fix it as I can't bring myself to replace it and for the money, it is well worth it IMHO.

Definitely. These are great utility tractors. Good luck with the rebuild and let me know if you have any questions and I will help any way I can. Thanks for watching and subscribing.

+Josh_Outdoors I have done this kind of stuff for 45 years, starting at age 11. I have a Grandson going to school to learn more about diesels and get a diploma or certificate. He is going to do this one for me and I shared this with him. Thanks for the offer. I will go direct to A&I though.

I have a JD 2140 which I believe is a turbocharged version of yours. It needs a refreshing and your work is inspiring me to look at ordering parts. Its my front end loader tractor so it can't be down for more than a couple of days.

For the restart, do you have to do anything to get fuel into the fuel bowl? Or will the pump just fill it up when you start cranking?
@sunrise7ranch85
@sunrise7ranch85 8 лет назад
You have a manual pump handle on the mechanical lift pump. Loosen the purge screw on the top of the fuel filter and pump until it fills and starts to flow out of the top of the fuel filter. After that you are ready for the second step which is to leave the fittings loose on the fuel lines where they connect to the injectors. Turn the key until you get solid fuel leaking out instead of foam. Tighten them done and you are good to go

Thanks, the journal and balance saft wobbled out and spit out 2 of 3 bearings and spun the rod bearing on #1, i poured babbit to repair the block and am wondering how to make sure the oil gantries are open, trying to do an inframe rebuild.
@sunrise7ranch85
@sunrise7ranch85 7 лет назад
To remove the balancing shaft & crankshaft you would have to split the tractor mostly likely. I don't know the exact engine config but I am thinking tractor split is in order. I have never heard of pouring babbit for anything other than a bearing so not sure what you did on the block repair.

Did you have a good service manual to follow? I have a JD 4129 DT in a clark forklift and their service manual is lacking.
@sunrise7ranch85
@sunrise7ranch85 7 лет назад
I just used the A&I manual for torque specs/clearances etc. Its not complicated at all if you have basic mechanical skills. You can find videos about installing sleeves/piston liners etc on other engines on youtube. Basic principles apply.

What do you have to do to bleed out the high pressure fuel lines?
