What is like to drive the 300 hp JOHN DEERE 830 Special Tractor built by Don Dufner? This tractor was built by combining three JOHN DEERE 830 Diesel tractors together. Viewers will follow this big tractor teamed up with a 12 bottom JOHN DEERE 3700 plow at the 100 Years of Horse Power event hosted by Renner Stock Farms. I've actually gotten to see,touch, and sit in this beautiful rig, we farm up here in North Dakota and when i was younger this was sitting in at our local John Deere dealer and we had to stop by and see it. Younger me absolutely loved this beast, and while Dad and Don were talking he let me crawl up in the cab and look around

I had the pleasure of meeting Don & Sylvia 25 years ago, even got to tour around their farm. Great people! Don built some incredible stuff, certainly a collection I’ll never forget.

I farmed many years with 2 cylinder John deeres I had a collection of 30 at 1 time now still have 6 left I'm 84 years-old so have seen a lot. Love the 3 830s Beautiful 😍

I loved the 720 diesel that I got to run on the farm near my childhood home. 4 bottom mounted plow or 14 ft harrow gator. It would run all day never missed a beat.

The farmer opposite my husbands family farm in the Eastern wheatbelt of Western Australia hooked up An International WD 9, AW7 and 554. Apparently the gearing was very close and he used to pull 2 18 disc Chamberlain stump jump ploughs at 5mph back in the 1960s

Two tractors coupled together? Very fascinating. Imagine if John Deere actually made a twin engine tractor using those 2-cylinder JD engines. It would have given even the most powerful tractor at the time a run for their money.

Our family had a 630, 730D, and grandpa had an 830. Grandpa always thought that a pair of 830 tractors joined together would be more economical (read more fuel efficient) than a comparable modern single tractor of comparable size.

Jason, I haven’t seen anything from Renners on their channel since the show hope everything thing is okay love your videos my grandpa was born in 1902 and would tell me about he and his dad farmed with horses and then when he and grandma farmed they retired in 1972 was to young to work but a lot of hours riding with him

I ran an 830 one summer for a farmer. I noticed the front two were smoking more and appear to be working harder than the back tractor do you know why that is?

At the beginning of this video, the front tractor is 'cookin' nicely 😊, while the center tractor is obviously in a higher gear and lugging profusely, hence the coal black smoke and slower individual puffs🤔. The rear most tractor must be pulling its share as the smoke doesn't indicate lugging🧐🤷🏻‍♂️🙋🏻‍♂️ I recorded Don driving this triple 830 at Dalton a few years back pulling two 6 bottom plows, and it performed similar to this video🤷🏻‍♂️

My dad had three 830ies, he bought a tandem hitch to hook two of them together. You drove the back tractor and had a ram on each side of the tractor hitch to maneuver the tractor left or right. It articulated between the two tractors. You could rev up the engine and engage the clutch from the back tractor, but had to change the transmission gears individually.

Those threw tractors running together only consume 20 gals of diesel apiece in 12 to 14 hrs. Very economical over any simular horsepower of today.

Interesting tractor build Does he use it for plowing pasture land . All the tractors I've seen are at demo days of farm machinery . I'd like to see if they actually use them in something other than already worked ground and plowing deeper with the first couple of bottoms. Reason why I'm asking so many questions is that the farmer I worked for started at 6" deep and if the customer wanted it plowed it deeper we just changed the settings . I begin farming in my teens a few decades ago . Thanks for your great videos they're always interesting and I even learn about some equipment I've never heard of or seen before . Sorry for the paragraph
